Gender Female Race Hyur Clan Highlander Citizenship Ul'dah Age 28 Occupation Freelancer Orientation Heteromantic Bisexual Alignment Chaotic Good Affiliation Jutat De Jobs DRK/DRG/MNK GENERAL INFORMATION Lyse Crofte (Pronunciation: Lease Crawft), a woman given to fits of pique and random mood swings, but generally fully capable of sticking to her own moral compass, and a survivor of the battle of Carteneau, was born Lyse Hilde Marke, daughter of a fairly well-known member of the still fighting Ala Mhigan Resistance. Upon coming of age, she chose a name at random and tacked it onto the end of her own to form herself into a new person, instead of being either burdened or gifted by the name her mother had made for their family. She even went so far as to put most of the money her mother had given her to get a start into a fund that she rarely draws from. APPEARANCE Tall and sturdy, Lyse stands fairly tall, but on the short end of average for a Highlander female, and though her body is lithe and muscled, there is a definite curve near her hips and bust that overlay that muscle. Red hair and pale skin make it seem unlikely she grew up in the desert, and her eyes are a pale shade of gray that borders on white. Scars cover most of her body when visible, a plethora of wounds marked forever on her flesh; from Lichtenberg figures from hands-on lightning magic usage, to slash and puncture scars from various edged weapons, and even a few bite marks, from beast and man alike. In that, she is somehow the epitome of a juxtaposition between feminine and strength that is often off-set by the fact that her eyes -- framed as they may be by dark lashes -- often seem hard and unapologetic, and her face is generally blank when left to her own devices. PERSONALITY Sassy. Strong. Survivor. Bull-headed would be the best way to describe Lyse on any given day, as she is a woman who will argue her point -- especially if it is something she believes strongly in -- until the other party tires of hearing her and leaves. She refuses to give an inch and will often take a front-line position in any fight to keep others safe, even those she knows are fully capable of taking care of themselves; often volunteering to guard any sort of medic or healer, it isn't for the sake of glory but for the sake of the safety of those she loves and is going to battle with that Lyse offers herself up so often. Though perfectly capable of being serious should the situation call for it, Lyse much prefers a sort of detached coolness to most situations, preferring to adapt as needed over being serious at all times. This is especially true around members of Jutat De -- mostly Tayn -- and prior to her involvement with that group she seemed more likely to keep silent and to herself rather than engaging in a conversation without being provoked first. Lyse is, above all else, a survivor. She will not settle and be content with anything but what she wants; she will fight for it and die for it if she must, but the latter will not come without a fight and a lot of bloodshed on both sides. In the past this has led to some pretty standard black-outs -- considered berserker rage by story-telling -- and not remembering exactly what happened when she wakes in a mass of bodies and blood, but lately she seems to have gained control over that to some degree; this is likely a symptom of her attachment to her friends and family. Believed to be a distant relative of the Manderville's, Lyse also displays some of Godbert's disregard for the idea of cold temperatures and the ability to disrobe at leisure. LIKES White Haired Men. She's had a crush on several, dated one, and will always have this like. Weapons. She has a small collection currently, but is looking to expand. Storms. It's the electricity in the air or the sound of the rain. Fighting. You don't get that many scars if you don't like a good fight. DISLIKES Magic. She has grown to accept it more in recent history, but still strongly dislikes it. Overly Sweet Foods. Some desserts are fine, but she hates the overly complicated and saccharine ones. Unsolicited Physical Contact. You don't survive that many scars without being cautious. Garlemald. Like any good daughter of Ala Mhigo should. STRENGTHS Loyalty. She'll fight tooth and nail for the things she's devoted to. Flexibility. Lyse could give most dancers and acrobats a run for their money. Legs. Helps with the jumping, climbing, nice ass, etc. She never skips leg day. Adaptability. Rarely does she find herself good and well stuck; she can find a way out always. WEAKNESSES Temper. Though generally cool-headed, when her temper gets the better of her it REALLY gets the better of her. Love. For family, friends, or otherwise; she will likely put herself and everything on the line if someone she loves is in danger. Magic. She is not more susceptible but she is a magnetic force for aether -- in a dangerous way -- so she tries to avoid magic as much as possible. Self-sacrifice. In truly annoying fashion, Lyse attempts to present herself to death before anyone else. CURRENT INVENTORY This is a list of the items that Lyse generally has on her person. "Blutrünstigkeit": A large, two-handed sword crafted for her by Lily, and affectionately named "Bloodlust," it is the favoured weapon in her arsenal. Goobbue Earrings: A gift from Tayn, she is rarely without them somewhere on her person. "Goobs": Having been present at more than one of her battles, Goobs -- a goobbue with an eating habit -- often tries to stow away in Lyse's bag and eat whatever he can get to. If he's not trotting behind her he's likely somewhere nearby.. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION Face Claim: Iga Wyrwal. Body Claim: Fanart of Korra. Voice Claim: Eva Green (general cadence and tone, not accent). COMBAT & WEAPONRY Though Lyse is known to go without weapons at all, she does have an arsenal that she goes for when the fight calls for it. This can include blunt and edged weapons alike, and sometimes it's just slight additions to her bare fists or feet that serve as her weapons for any given battle. The favoured, however, are as follows: Blutrünstigkeit The heavy, two-handed sword crafted for her by Lily, Blutrünstigkeit has become her go-to weapon for anything involving heavier combat. When Lyse takes a front-line position she tends to reach for Blutrünstigkeit, as it was crafted specifically for her to bring attention to herself and parry with relative ease, considering its size; the blade is also fairly adpatable to Lyse's on aether-bleed, serving as a good point for her to channel what aether has built in her to strengthen her attacks. It is Lyse's favourite. Punch Gloves A pair of supple leather gloves with reinforced brass across the knuckles that Lyse sometimes slips on when she's attempting something that needs a little more than a bare-fisted punch. They have often fallen in as part of her general attire so that Lyse never feels as if she's unarmed in any situation and serve to get her out of situations that would otherwise have proven... prickly. A woman who loves to throw a punch as much as anything, these have become a staple of Lyse's armory. Worn Lance With a few reforging-attempts and several battles seen, Lyse's worn lance from when she was first learning to fight still remains in her arsenal to this day. Though it isn't reached for as much as others, it is still a key point for when she does wish to delve into the realm of distance fighting, and is often favoured over the more flashy, newer forged things that might be lying around; the familiarity is comfortable. Lens & Break - Helping Garrett with the Lens and his crusade to save his mentor left Lyse and her comrades in various states of disrepair; Lyse was revealed to have magical capability upon redirecting a fireball from an Amal'jaa and in the explosion of the Lens it made the issue that forced her to stop using magic in the first place exacerbated; Jutat De and the family go through trials and Lyse seeks a way to fix herself before she... explodes, so to speak."Against Magic" Aether Bleed & Absence - Lyse has recently been on a sabbatical of sorts trying to sort out her necessity to absorb and bleed aether in order to not overload; after several weeks she's returned with some knowledge on how to make it a steady 'bleed' and use it for the better of her skills; she seems a bit more stable but has more or less given up on other forms of bladed combat in favour of the two-handed swords. A woman who, in her youth, was the spitting image of Lyse only blonde, she fights to this day to save Ala Mhigo and is fairly well known within the resistance. Offering correspondence with her daughter at least once a month, she is involved in her daughter's life but also knows well enough her daughter's want to make her own way to never make herself a burden. On the rare occasion she is forced to take a sabbatical from her work as a general and comes to visit her daughter, their visits are often reclusive. It isn't that Lyse is ashamed of her mother, more that she still wishes to avoid association for gain or loss either way. Grayson Marke, father. ( ● 🔃 ) Lyse's Thoughts: "It shouldn't take near-death to bring someone back." Having been presumed dead for a long time, Lyse's father made a reappearance in her life a while back, having found her wounded near Limsa and taken her in. Fortuitous as it may have been -- and as grateful as she was to be saved -- Lyse feels that her father could have let her know much sooner that he was alive. Having lied to her and her mother, and gotten himself a new wife and a gaggle of kids in the interim, Lyse's relationship with her father is strained at best; it doesn't help that he keeps trying to marry her off when she has told him she's already spoken for. Lyse has punched her father several times over this. ( ♥ ♥ 🔒 ✔ ) "I try to picture me without you but I can't." Tayn started as her friend, then they become lovers, and now in some ways they've moved even beyond that. Partners in every right, Lyse and Tayn work together almost as well as Lily and Tayn do, and there're times when they don't need to say anything to communicate complicated thoughts to one another. Intense eye-contact is more than just a passing thing, and often they do not realise how they are acting around others until it's pointed out. Extensions of one another's best points, they're comrades and partners on every level. They're on pretty good terms, considering. "1""2""3""4""5" "6" Khyros Oroban, heroic presence. ( ♥ ♥ 🔒 ✔ ) "I love the way that your heart breaks, with every injustice and deadly fate." Even when Lyse and Khyros are apart they look out for one another, and have become more like family than she had ever anticipated. He is as much the hero she wishes she could be but knows she can't succumb to and for that she'll always protect his best interest. Often being forced to check up on him and make sure he is eating and/or sleeping, their relationship is affectionate if not overtly so; one would die for the other. Though they are not one would consider the type of girlfriends to run around and speak of boys at length, they are well aware of how the other will react to almost any situation and are stalwart friends, whether they choose to show it or not; Lyse will easily rise to Lily's own formidable skill in battle and stand beside her through it all. There are few women in Lyse's life who have come as far as Lily has and even fewer she'd openly express an attraction to. Lily is likely among her best friends and closer to her than most of her family. "1" "2" "3""4" "5" Trisselle Ganathain, lady of darkness. ( ♥ 🔒 ✔ ) "Caress me with pain." Trepidation met Trisselle (and in that, mirrored back at her from Triselle) when they first met, and yet over the course of their time together Lyse has taken to the Duskwight much more easily than she would have anticipated at the start. Lyse is protective, but still playful, with Triss and the leggy woman has learned to respond somewhat in kind when Lyse does not go overboard; she's family. "1" "2" Aurelia Aerowind, capricious kouhai. ( ♥ 🔒 ✔ ) "The world is a stage of complete chaos" If ever there was a person to be the song to Lyse's back-beat, it would be Aurelia. Spunky and tenacious, they share qualities though Aurelia maintains a sort of effervescence that Lyse can never hope to accomplish; often hiding a deep sadness, Aurelia's perky, take no prisoner attitude makes Lyse extremely happy and protective of the girl who has more or less become like her little sister. "1" "2""3" Lecede Aerowind, taciturn & stoic. ( ♥ ♥ 🔒 ✔ ) "I will fall and rise again." Time changed Lecede in a way that Lyse hadn't anticipated, and through the year since they met he's evolved into something stoic and guarded, and yet still she seeks to help him. A consummate protector, Lecede has risen from a young man with little direction to following in the footsteps of 'the best' in taking a charge and keeping them safe. As much as Aurelia is her little sister, Lecede is her brother and she'll stop at nothing to see them both safe. "1" "2""3" Aerius Destroven, smoke & mirrors. ( ● ) "There wasn't a wrong or right he could choose." Aerius and Lyse have never quite seen eye to eye, and this leaves their relationship, as a whole, fractured and a bit distant. Though she -- if reluctantly -- still cares about Aerius, their relationship is, at best, stalled. Friends, but distant ones. "1" Garrett Sancsaron, double edged blade. ( ● ) "It's so loud inside my head with words that I should've said." Lyse has bled for Garrett more than her fair share, and has spent countless hours trying to implore upon him the importance of cherishing the lives around him rather than throwing himself at a lost cause; he has repeatedly and vehemently ignored her warnings and even ignored her asking him not to use magic on her. They were friends who are now something entirely different and Lyse isn't sure where they stand; distant at best. "1" Alothia Starkwood, den mother. ( 🔒 ✔ ) "My life it seems is a world of dreams." Easily one of the most considerate people Lyse has ever met, Alothia goes out of her way to make people feel comfortable and at home, sort of adopting herself into the role of the doting mother even when she herself could use the doting. A kind heart and a quick wit help count her among one of Lyse's new favourite people. "1" Khale Embrise, ass in class. ( 🔒 ✔ ) "When the lights go out." Khale is a stalwart man, even if he -- much like Tayn -- understands that everything is not always as serious as it seems to be. Knowing when to buckle down and get serious and equally understanding the love of letting loose, Khale has found a way into Lyse's list of friends with ease. "1" Nylesa Tou, sister from another mister. ( 🔒 ✔ ) "I'm tired of breaking" Nyles is a bit of a mystery to Lyse even to this day; when she returned from time with her father she found Nyles in her life and seemingly a perfect fit... but after the events of the Lens and some asshole being an asshole, she seems a bit lost and distant. In Nylesa, Lyse sees a kindred spirit, but also someone who might not wish to be seen as such. "1" Aramis Dumas, ishgardian stranger. ( 🔃 ✔ ) "I'll find my own way down." Though their meeting was relatively brief, this Knight of Ishgard is a point of curiousity for Lyse, as they seem to have similar ideals but different ways of going about them. She's curious about him, to say the least, and hopes to some day find out if their conversations can blossom into something akin to friendship. We can discuss if you want to play a sibling older than Lyse that she had no knowledge of, but it'll take some doing and planning.. "Suitors": Her father is determined to marry her off, so to speak, and continues to send men her way that he feels are suitable. This role will not mean you date Lyse, as she is spoken for, but it's a door into her life and to possible friendship. Rival: Something I've always desired is a sort of rival for my character that doesn't fall under the 'just an asshole for the sake of it' or 'trying to kill each other at every turn' idea. Long-term role with someone who wants to upstage Lyse and she might reciprocate in kind; will definitely be confrontational. Client: Jutat De is almost always seeking clients for investigative services and if you feel you have a plot we'd be useful in (and actually be able to participate in properly) don't hesitate to contact me on this. ABOUT THE PLAYER I'm a 33 year old woman with several disorders and a penchant for thinking I'm somehow in the wrong and that people hate me. I try to be open-minded and kind to the people I RP with and have fun, but in general it's better if we show each other mutual respect and try to go from there. I'm not against most things as far as RP goes, and I'm actually semi-okay at being uh... awesome, once you get in there, but I have pretty poor self-esteem at times and might gravitate towards self-deprecation. Call me out on it, I need to be, but this is just a blanket warning. I will RP mature themes with some caveats, which are mentioned well below, and am generally easy to get along with as long as you don't try to freak me out or accost me weirdly. <3 THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND... I'm probably not ignoring you. If I don't respond right away or seem to be a bit distant it's unlikely that it's because I'm mad at or ignoring you; I'll tell you if I am. I might just be having a moment related to my attention or memory, or something akin to that. I have ADD and Anxiety. in relation to the above, I have severe ADD and Anxiety (social and general) and sometimes react poorly to things in thinking that someone is mad at me or avoiding situations because of embarrassment or just plain forgetting. Don't let me 'get away with it' but do please try to be gentle when you call me out. I have several untreated types of badness and while that's not your business to attend to I'd appreciate if you call me out? But don't break me in the process, please! GUIDELINES Overall, I'm pretty chill. I have a few things that I consider a bit too far as things go, but in some cases I'm fine with things others might not be, so here's some clarification: I WILL NOT... Entertain rape RP If you think that makes me a non-mature RPer in some regard, that's fine. I won't entertain it. If it's a semi-unspoken part of an RP background, fine, but trying to do that sort of thing with Lyse will end in me ignoring you. I won't tolerate it. Entertain Pedophilia. Don't mention it to me, don't tell me about your tragic child-whored past, I understand it's legitimate RP for some but I really would rather not hear about it. I am not a place to get e-boned. I have zero issue with ERP as a whole, but if your entire purpose of approaching me is to get laid, I really would rather you seek elsewhere. Lyse is taken, I'm not interested, and honestly pure sex RP leads nowhere good. This isn't to say you can't have a crush or hit on her, but don't come at me just for sex. I WILL... Take hits. If our characters fight, even if we decide not to roll, unless your character is supposed to be unable to land a hit on someone, you will get hits on Lyse; I RP her as fairly adept but I'm not an idiot to think she's a god. She has the scars she has for several reasons, one of which she isn't infallible. Consider Maiming and Perma-injury. Giving her more scars is always fine with me, as indicated above, but I'll also consider more in-depth wounds and injuries (blindness, loss of a limb, that sort of thing) for either temporary or permanent, within reason. You don't just get to cut her arm off and we'll discuss it OOCly and see if it fits any current storyline. Entertain violence. As long as it isn't against kids or animals, Lyse is fine with violence, as am I.
