She led what some would call an average childhood for the first few years, learning and studying under the tutelage of her parents and family. She spent time conversing with the Elementals and wildlife, and growing as most children do: quickly. When she was barely half a decade old, she lost her mother, Selaine, to a wasting sickness whose origin is still unknown. After the loss of her mother, and a promise given at the dying woman's bedside, Meallaire began focusing herself into Conjury, with the intention of making sure that should sickness ever to threaten to take her father from her, she would be able to heal him.

What should have been study to better herself and aid others instead became a form of obsession in the young woman, devoting all of herself to the study of conjury, how it affected the body, and more importantly, to the body itself, and how it could be advanced and manipulated with the healing magic. Despite her single-minded obsession with conjury as a way to save a life, she did learn how to heal not only the body, but the mind, and the world around her; her magic a way to support the growth of everything she touched. While her studies never led her to find a way to cure the disease that afflicted her mother, it led her down other paths.

Among those other paths, she was led straight into the arms of a woman who went by the name Malena. Malena was a Hyuran witch who took her under her wing, teaching and training her. Eventually, Malena offered her a drought which would 'aid her'. Intelligent, but still a child, Meallaire took her offer, imbibing the drought. After a night of wracking pain and her aether going out of control, the results became clear - a monstrous strength that was dangerous, both to her and to those around her. Her father, desperate to pull her mind from her quest into magic, and to find a way to help his daughter control her new-found strength, traveled from Gridania to Ul’dah, to seek assistance from the smiths and magi of the city, hoping that they might fashion an item to control the aether generated by her, and purpose it in a way that it would no longer make her own body beyond her control.

Though the journey took him at least a moon, her father returned with an armlet with a glowing symbol on the side, and a warning: that artifact was designed with great care, and should it ever be lost, a second would be impossible to create. For a brief time, she secluded herself away from all but her father and aunt, as she struggled to get her strength under control, her body slowly adjusting, and the very young woman herself adjusting to the changes necessary to reign herself in. Though she did eventually manage to get herself under control, she found that her strength was often overwhelming. Rather than others, however, she most often injured herself. And so began her delving into Conjury and earliest Arcanima to reinforce her physical form to handle the aetherical abundance that most often caused her injury as her body struggled to keep up with the power she bore.

While her tale should have grown happier at this point, getting herself under control and things going well, instead, her father was lost to a skirmish with "forces unknown" in the Twelveswood. Meallaire, not yet an adult, was assigned to her aunt Cirenelle as her charge. She fell into a deep depression that lasted until her nineteenth summer. No sooner had her nameday passed, before she packed up her meager belongings and what small fortune she and her father had amassed from the alchemical potions she had sold, and she departed Gridania, headed for Limsa Lominsa. She chose the first boat for parts unknown, and ended up across the sea, in Othard.

Meallaire's arrival in Othard was fairly uneventful. The woman traded and bartered her services as an alchemist for a place to stay in a small village, eventually ending up using her strength to help provide for the village by tending to heavy work, her life of conjury and magic traded for the rough working of the land. As she had with conjury, she ended up devoting herself to the study of the local culture. Within a few short years, she’d grown fluent with the language and as familiar with the culture as if she’d been born to it. Her acceptance within the village was a turning point in her life, allowing her to put the pain of the loss of her parents behind her.

During this time, she met Cai Wararm, a Highlander with a zest for life that she enjoyed. He would become her first lover, her first love, and eventually, the father of her first child. Cai encouraged her to learn to fight during their time together, but she resisted, having had taken a vow to be a pacifist, swearing that she would never raise her hands in anger or combat due to her raw strength. She would later come to regret that vow. But the happiness she had found with Cai wasn't meant to last, and after barely two years with him, he was lost in a series of raids on the villages by a group of bandits. Less than three days after Cai's death, the child that would have been their son was stillborn. She named him Cailean, and buried the both of them, burning her home down as she left. For the second time in her life, started moving again, running to escape her past.

She traveled up and down the coast of Othard, eventually settling into a larger city, and this time, without any desire to really motivate her, she took up training as a courtesan. First working as a healer, curing sickness that might crop up in the girls, and then as a proper courtesan herself, training in everything from formal ceremony to physical companionship, music, art, culture, and everything in-between. She was taken in by an older woman who would become her sponsor and mentor, teaching her everything from the culture she desperately needed to know to survive, to martial arts best suited to take advantage of her monstrous strength without hurting others. When the Hyurian woman passed away years later, Meallaire was pained by her loss, but instead of running, as she had always done before, she remained, working her way through the 'ranks', as it were, until she was one of the higher paid courtesans in the teahouse that had become her home.

Life is often funny, and it was working as a courtesan that she met one of the only other Elezen males she had seen frequent the house; a Wildwood going by the name of Jeulerant. After a surprise visit by the man found her literally falling through a bit of flooring and onto his lap, she decided to take the hint from the Spinner, and accepted his advances. She refused to stop working, however, and the two courted while she continued her occupation. Jeulerant could of course raise no objections given how they met, instead becoming her paid sponsor, giving her the greater freedom to pick and choose her clientele. This continued on for seven years, with Jeulerant asking for her hand every year on the same day. Finally, in the seventh year, Meallaire agreed. She finally stepped down from her position in the teahouse, and the two were wed according to Othardian customs. They spent the next thirty-two years moving all around Othard, until Meallaire became pregnant with their first son, Valistaux.

Meallaire and Jeulerant finally settled down after the birth of their first son, and the two lived in relative harmony with a local village, extending their protection to the villagers while Meallaire trained with several locals in martial arts styles, and medicine. The most notable of whom was an Elezen woman who went by the name Argenia. She would become Meallaire's first formal teacher in years, and indeed, she considers her to be her first true teacher, as the events with Malena were less than savory. It was from them that she learned most of her non-conjury healing from, as well as anatomy, and other practical medicines and much of her alchemy. During this time that she began to perfect the alchemical formula that would extend the lifespan of herself, her husband, and her children.

When Valistaux was twelve years of age, Meallaire and Jeulerant took the boy on a trip along the coastline near their home, where they encountered a slaver ship, offloading their cargo. A duskwight girl caught their attention, and while the pair would have liked to have freed everyone on the ship that day, discretion was the better part of valor and they instead purchased the duskwight girl, whose name was Esirelle. The pair adopted the girl, with Valistaux gaining a playmate and a 'sibling', of sorts. She stepped in as Meallaire's assistant for a time, learning alchemy from the woman, and displaying some small measure of control over conjury.

The four had a fairly happy home life for a number of years, with Meallaire and Jeulerant selling a variety of services from their home, gathering funds in preparation for the future, and raising their two children. When the pair began to display greater affection for one another, no one was surprised, and when they both reached their twentieth summer, Meallaire and Jeulerant granted the pair permission to wed. As they weren't blood siblings, there was no taboo broken, and so the pair were wed happily to one another. For the next seventeen years, the four of them worked as a unit, taking care of things around their homeland, and working together to expand their skills and develop their talents. Not long after the thirty-seventh nameday of their son, Meallaire and Jeulerant decided it was, once again, time to travel.

From 1470 until 1532, Meallaire and Jeulerant traveled all across the world, experiencing new cultures, learning new magic, taking in knowledge, contributing what they could to whatever location they stayed in for any period of time, and generally enjoying their time and life together. Sometime in 1508, Meallaire gave birth to twin sons, Vaelenant and Aeldenoix. But all things must come to an end, and after the pair shared a startling vision of the future, they traversed back across the ocean, ending up in Eorzea, their original home.

The return home brought with it a kind of bittersweet reunion, with Meallaire showing Jeulerant the graves of her parents, her childhood home, and the two seeking some resolve for the visions they had begun receiving. Taking back up the paths of conjury and alchemy, she began experimenting and working with manipulating the body, supplementing her work with arcanima. The pair settled into a steady life in Gridania, each of them offering their respective services to the City. Their lives progressed on a steady course until the Garleans began pushing at the boundaries of the Twelveswood. When the Adders put out a call for bodies, they answered the that call.

At the fields of Carteneau Flats, the Alliance met the Empire head-on, with Meallaire and Jeulerant on the front lines. When Dalamud fell, and the forces of the respective armies scattered, the duo did very much the same. They quit the field, and rather than returning home to Gridania, they traveled to Ul’dah, to rejoin their sons. They changed their names that day, Meallaire becoming Glioca, and Jeulerant becoming A’rklonn. They took his family name, of Sargonnai, and worked to make a life in the City-State.

With a flood of refugees in the wake of the Calamity, Glioca opened a small shop in Ul'dah, offering her services as a conjurer and barber-surgeon for those who had been injured by the disaster. While her services were appreciated by some, they were viewed with suspicion by others. Why would an Elezen conjurer lend her aid to those that the citizens of Ul'dah turned a blind eye to? After her clinic was ransacked by Brass Blades, Glioca was forced to shut her doors, and began traveling further and further from Ul'dah, she and A'rklonn settling in a small shack around the edges where the Twelveswood met Thanalan.

Not long after this, she took up swordplay with the Gladiator's guild in Ul'dah, utilizing what she'd learned in Othard and with her husband, fighting under the moniker 'The Silver Eclipse'. She often fought while masked, and donated any winnings she received to the refugees outside the gates, providing what food and medicine she could. A particularly nasty match left one man dead however, and Glioca ended up quitting the guild and laying down her arms and armor.

Following the death in the circle, and with ever-growing unrest in Ul'dah, Glioca, A'rklonn, and their third at the time, opted to move on to Gridania. While there, she briefly sought out what remained of her family, getting back in touch with the last of her kin, their twin boys finally returning to the fold with a group with them. They also got back in touch with Anthya, who would become one of their adopted daughters. Committed to a course, the group never settled into Gridania proper, instead traveling around in the Twelveswood like nomads, until eventually ending up at the Oak Inn.
| ||
