Those who make the mistake of doing so eventually experience the far reach of her ire, intellect, and long-game cunning. Naturally, Kaj is slightly dysfunctional when it comes to building relationships, tending to keep most individuals at arms-length, and only shows her more warm nature behind closed doors or confined to private conversation with those close to her. One of the more notable reasons for her rather prickly behavior is her lack of trust in others. She expects most people to be using her to further their own needs or seek to cause harm. Because of this, as well as her own strong social anxiety, she rarely allows herself get close to anyone. It generally isn't an issue since her overall demeanor tends to repel most that cross her path.  Although the small Miqo'te woman can seem callous, she is truly a kind person to those who manage to win her loyalty.  Those that can weather and meet her aggression long enough to gain her trust discover themselves in the company of a very trustworthy and thoroughly loyal ally.  While she still has the tendency to joke around and provoke her friends, she will be far more willing to deny herself such manipulation or harassment and become much more nurturing to those who cope with her fickle ways.

For one week each year, gorgeous purple flowers bloom in only a few places around the Eorzea. What remains of K'ajias tribe wade into the purple seas to harvest the blooms by hand and then pick their stamens to sell as saffron. The harvest process is tedious, but these high-maintenance flowers are also very selective about the climates that they grow in and the yields are very hit or miss. Each flower - or saffron crocus - produces about three stamens, which must be picked by hand. About 150 flowers are needed to produce a gram of saffron and saffron can sell for between 2,000 to 10,000 Gil per pound. K'ajia assists in the sale as well as transport and collection of the Saffron, allowing herself and those involved to reap the rewards.

While Saffron can be a risky trade depending on one short week a year of harvest, Sotol as well as the Desert Spoon itself has become a more steady trade option to fill in the gaps near year-round in the Hipparion tribes . Sotol is a distilled spirit made from the Dasylirion wheeleri, Asparagaceae (commonly known as Desert Spoon), a plant that grows through Eastern and Southern Thanalan. It is known as the regional drink and popularized among the common-folk. There are few commercial examples available; a large amount of current stock within the great city of Uld'ah having passed through the hands of the Hipparion tribe and/or the Refugees of Little Ala Mhigo they have allied themselves with. The flowering stem of Sotol is one of the best materials for making a friction fire, as it is straight, light in weight, and strong. As it is straight, the stem requiring little to no straightening prior to use, it is still commonly used as a lance and spear among her tribe, the latter with an attached stone or metal point. The base of a cooked Sotol stem may be eaten rather like an artichoke leaf (by scraping across the front teeth). This remnant, called a "quid", resembles a spoon and can be used as one.

Daily rough housing with siblings and children her age seemed nothing more than a daily game, but the lessons she learned now would soon grow to be a pivotal part of her life. More than anything else, young K'ajia looked forward to her play-time in the savannah.</div>

This year marked a time of grooming into the natural role a woman took in the tribe of Aezyma. K'ajia received training from her mother, aunt, and wise-women on a multitude of subjects ranging from more domestic topics to the art of entertainment. While the woman struggled to keep K'ajias attention focused and calm, the young Catte excelled when lessons were offered in private; away from the distraction and goading of her young tribe-mates.  Due to constant teasing and resorted-to seclusion, quite a few of her talents still remain undisclosed and personal to her.</div>

The fire of her competitive nature and accumulative frustration was well exerted during these sessions-- channeling herself into more athletic goals. Among all the children she grew to enjoy the company of one particular male her age named K'esifir. The two had their own reasons for standing out among the many. While K'ajia had been the obvious runt of the tribe, K'esifir  was the last born male to her tribe for nearly two decades. As time passed, the two youngsters velcroed to each other and became inseparable friends.

: 1765 Sixth Astral Era: Caravans and travelers moving through Thanalan often sought assistance from the local tribe for guidance and safe passage. Those unwise enough to travel alone and without solid baring of the land often found themselves robbed blind, lost, or ambushed by the Amal'jaa. Among the remains of a ransacked merchants cart, K'ajia discovered another companion of the four-legged species-- a small Coeurl cub. While discouraged by her kin to keep the beast,  K'ajia refused to cull the sharp-clawed creature and kept it for herself. {To be named}</div>

With an adventurous heart and wild passion for life, it would seem as nothing could stop her.  Ne're a laugh stifled or a beat missed, the small girl had the world at her feet and not a thing of real consequence seemed to dull her vibrant feisty luster. This year marks the dawning of loss for the young Daughter of Aezyma. An Amal'jaa ambush occurs upon the Saffron field during the week of harvest resulting in the death of K'ajias mother.</div>

She resorts to traveling alone outside the common reach of the Hipparion Tribe. During this time she meets with an Ala Mhigan adventurer who tells her about the many wild thing they had once witnessed as well as making mention of the strength of those that walked the path of the Fist of Rhalgr. While inspired and curious about the tales of such people as well as distant places, K'ajia remained coaxed from her people and the land they set root in. </div>

: <div style="font-family:Georgia;"><font style="color:#585350;" size="2">■</font>1772 Calamity Event - The first signs of the coming of the Seventh Umbral Era came in the form of a sudden change in monsters' behavior and size with Dalamud itself becoming considerably brighter in the night sky. The Hipparion tribe was forced into the safety of the twisting caverns and ragged cliffs the Burning Wall provided; barricading themselves from the rampaging creatures of the land. As Dalamud grew closer to hover above them, a brave few tribe members, including K'ajia, made a foolhardy journey to pray at the Shrine of Nald in desperation for salvation from the fiery red moon. The rough dozen that had ventured out to the shrine were spared from the absolute destruction by placing themselves within the shrine as Dalamud crashed down upon her home. The event left nothing but pure desolation in it's wake. In her mind, Nald'thal had chosen to spare so few while claiming the land and the mass of her people to his ruling. Without a Nhun and without any guidance, the small group of women found themselves held together by mutual heart ache, fear, and painful memories.</div>

After roaming Thanalan for quite some time, the small remainder of the tribe settle into the refuge of Little Ala Mhigo.  K'ajia occupies herself with escorting refugees to and from Uld'ah as well as those who "somehow" discover themselves lost or stranded among the unforgiving terrain of Southern Thanalan. During this time, K'ajia meets an Ala Mhigan refugee and skilled Rogue by the name of Baez Vidal, who manages to gain K'ajias hard earned trust through his forward effort to help her. Over the next few years, Baez assists K'ajia grow in martial prowess as well as becomes the Clyde to her Bonnie in their line of work.</div>

Sotol and Saffron now bloom and bring a new spring of wealth to her and her people.

: Year 4 of the Seventh Umbral Era:  Baez has well established himself in K'ajia's life as her partner in crime and constant motivator. Both challenge each other in a Myriad of ways, feeding off each others passionate will and unwavering taste for daring. The strong support they shared for one another's people made respecting each other near effortless. In the end, regardless of how much loyalty they had for their own cultures, ideas of travel and adventure outside the bubble of Thanalan began to cross their mind. While the intimacy the two of them shared brought each other strength during times of struggle, both had become each other's Achilles heel. It was this year that marked yet another season of loss for the Miqo'te woman. Tragedy strikes when Baez contracts Red Throat, squelching any of their aspirations to venture past the sands and savannah they both knew so well. The mans fight to survive was horrific and long-drawn, leaving K'ajia worn and soul hardened. In the end, all was for not. Baez Vadal was pronounced dead eight months later, leaving K'ajia with nothing more than the ghosts of her former life.</div>

: <div style="font-family:Georgia;"><font style="color:#585350;" size="2">■</font>Year 5 of the Seventh Umbral Era, 1577:  Twenty-One years old. This marks her age and the time when the word of the Primals and the Garleans movement spreads across Eorzea. K'ajia, unwilling to dwell in Little Ala Mhigo after the death of her partner, finds herself taking rest between a small residence in Uld'ah and the small farming camp of elder tribes woman that remain in Southern Thanalan. While taking odd-and-end contracts from small free companies, K'ajia involved herself in the Pugilist Guild. Any chance or moment of time was spent training and channeling her ire into the few things that she considered her passions. At this point the woman's taste for social bonding had been nearly shattered, while her moral compass continued to turn further into the realm of selfish indifference.</div>

: <div style="font-family:Georgia;"><font style="color:#585350;" size="2">■</font>Year 1 of the Seventh Astral Era, 1578: K'ajia finds herself in a lull. While taking small contracts, training, and selling Saffron/Desert Spoon to merchants within Ul'dah, K'ajia still found little distraction from the void she felt in her life. For a period of time she struggled with the idea of her tribes efforts to rebuild and establish a new Nhun and the new-found enjoyment if her own freedom from any sort of maternal commitment. Wanting to give her attention fully to her people in an attempt to reconnect, K'ajia returned to dwell solely in Southern Thanalan, thrusting herself into the spice trade and the people she fought so passionately for. It should be noted, while her attention to the Hipparion had been a renewed interest, K'ajia did not entirely abandon her focus in her other lines of work or athletic endeavors.</div>

: <div style="font-family:Georgia;"><font style="color:#585350;" size="2">■</font>Year 1 of the Seventh Astral Era, 1578 Patch 2.3 and Beyond: At this point, K'ajia realizes the intention her tribe has of bringing in a new Nhun was not something she could currently entertain. As confusing as it was, she still encouraged the plans of her people so that their culture would not disappear into obscurity. With no promise of her ability to continue the life she carved out for herself, K'ajia's commitment to live and dwell solely within her Southern Thanalan began to dwindle. During this time, K'ajia returned to her travels, spice trade, and contracts which eventually lead her to Revenant's Toll in Mor Dohna. Upon passing through the small town, K'ajia was able to connect with a man by the name of Galmr-- a student of Widargelt. She quickly took to his words of strength and sought to further her understand the ways of Rhalgr. It would be in this period K'ajia would learn to harness Aether in a new aspect; unlocking seats of power inside her that she had once never been aware of. </div>

Feisty. Irascible. Aloof. K'ajia has a hot-and-cold personality and is acutely aware of her small stature when compared to those around her-- deeply despising being under estimated.

L I K E S

Growth. The Miqo'te woman is constantly moving and pushing herself. Be it training for combat or simply working on some sort of personal skill or project-- she never allows herself to sit still for too long.
Gossip & Secrets. She loves knowing other peoples business and making it into a business of her own. The more personal and detailed the better. This goes hand-in-hand with her hobby of people-watching.
Sotol & Saffron. Sotol is a distilled spirit made from the Dasylirion wheeleri while the Saffron flower is a herb gathered and used for cooking and trade in Thanalan. Both were the main trade-good for her tribe and hold a very strong sentimental value. Can be found through North and South Eastern Thanalan.
Tribe. K’ajia holds her people and their way of life close to her heart. There is not a day that passes where she doesn’t miss how simple things used to be during her childhood. Regardless of her slowly transitioning life away from the people she has bonded herself to, K’ajia still sees herself very much a part of them-- refusing to sever her connection to what little left of them she has.

D I S L I K E S

Wimps or Knuckle Draggers. Individuals who can’t function on their own or over zealous lug-head types that beat their chest and roar.
Losing. Competitive to a fault.
Braggarts & Boasters. She cannot stand people with their noses held-high in the air and refuses to hold her tongue around this type of individual. She will not hesitate to swiftly bring them right back down to Hydaelyn or simply remove herself from their presence.
Stature. Her own. While her size comes with a myriad of perks that she enjoys, K’aja can not stand moments when her stature limits her. With the tallest female Miqo’te usually stand at 5’3, she could be considered the smallest at a whopping 4”11’ to 4”12’-- the top of her head reaching the armpit of a 6 foot tall man or woman.

S T R E N G T H S

Determination & Quick to learn. Once she sets her mind on a goal or ideal, she will not stop until she reaches it.
Combat & Espionage. Her her center, K’ajia is an athlete at her core. Her lifetime of training as a Rogue and Pugilist and new found passion for the teachings of Rhalgr have left her capable of numerous complex maneuvers and feats.
Practical skills. K’ajia is familiar with hunting, basic sewing, basket weaving, and is a skilled herbalist and enthusiast for tribal cooking… though she doesn’t cook often.
Visual and Musical Arts. She is a skilled dancer-- something she doesn't disclose often or practice unless for physical training. Also, her skill at the Sitar is lovely, yet she only performs in private moments of calm. Sharing these skills with others openly would be out of her character or incredibly rare.

F A U L T S

Selfish. K'ajia can be self-serving and often puts herself first before others.
The Chill. If something frustrates her and she can't fight it or fix it, she will quickly turn to seclusion or evading situations or individuals that make her uncomfortable rather than face them until she can find her footing again.
Violent Adrenaline Seeker. K'ajia is a violent woman by nature and lives for the thrill. She has been known to get physical quickly with even her closest friends and is incredibly critical of anyone she meets. It is not beyond her to act out of character just to get a rise out of people or dismantle their assumptions to watch them struggle to cope.

Q U I R K S

Alone in a crowd. She hates large gatherings of people where she is required to interact or finds herself being chatted up by some stranger. On the other hand, tucking herself away in a corner to watch passers by is one of her favorite hobbies. She will often risk more busy environments simply to enjoy the sounds and interactions of others about her.
Touch. Unwarranted physical contact can make her quite uncomfortable, sometimes even instinctively violent or incredibly uneasy.
Hot Water Bottle.During times of sleep, K’ajia enters a state of total rest and meditation. If left soundly to recuperate after a fight, her body temperature rises and a soft glow deep within her core,-- below layers of muscle, flesh, and bone,-- emits faintly. The Aether within her circulating through the seats of power she recently opened. Resting next to her would be akin to using a heating blanket in the middle of summer.

W E A L T H

Saffron & Sotol. The original meat and potatoes of K'ajias income.

The Desert Spoon takes approximately 15 years to mature and yields only one bottle of Sotol per plant, which means the requirement of multiple harvest plants turning over and maturing in a staggered fashion in order to be reliable. The lost of one harvest can be detrimental-- something her tribe is all too familiar with and accounts for with large underground root cellars. Desert Spoon typically grows on rocky slopes. Unlike agave, which flowers only once in its lifetime, Desert Spoon produces a single flower stalk every few years. Once the plant matures, it is harvested. The outer leaves are removed to reveal the center core, which is taken back or sold to a distillery or processed in small batches. The core can then be cooked and/or steamed, shredded, fermented, and distilled.

Sotol Age Classifications:
Plata Un-aged, straight from distillation to the bottle.
Reposado (rested) Aged several months to a year.
Añejo Aged for at least one year.
Private Label:
Sagolii Saffron, other wise known as {S.S.}, is 100% wild harvested Desert Spoon, processed and infused with basil and natural Saffron flavors. Directly behind the Desert Spoon feild is a grove sheltering Saffron Blossoms in the fall which are harvested for use in this and other products. {S.S.} is a handcrafted, small-batch distilled, and highly unusual Sotol. Unlike traditional Sotol, coriander, lemon, orange peel , angelica, iris, and fennel are all present and accounted for while the exotic aroma and flavor of saffron remain the forefront. Though rooted in history, this is an innovative and compelling spirit with a mouthwateringly mellifluous profile. Enjoy straight, on the rocks, or served with a slice of orange in a Sotol and tonic.

A P P E A R A N C E

As a fully blooded Seeker woman, K'ajia possesses a coffee skin tone and thick, silky hair the color of Indian-ink. From her mother, she received her small stature, plush square lips, and small rounded nose; while father blessed her with well shaped brows, long lashes, and gilded eyes. Her shoulders are narrow but toned. Breasts are modestly yet full. Her abdomen is long, lean, and narrow before blossoming outwards to her wide-set hips and shapely legs to reveal her as a very pear shaped woman.
She is most often seen in garments of Miqo'te/Ul'dan design, though she occasionally wears mixed culture fashions, or even melds the two together in an odd, exotic fusion. Common elements of dress include rich colors, brocades, beaded or jeweled collars and bracelet cuffs, bangles, bells, tassels, henna, headscarves, hip scarves, saris, sashes, harem pants, midriff blouses and jackets, and other ornate jewelry-- although all worn in a simplistic fashion and never gaudy.

Family Involved Romantic Platonic Physical Friend Acquaintance $ Business Deceased Positive Negative Neutral ( ) Unsure

Alothia Starkwood ( ) - The Close Friend
Alothia managed to befriend K'ajia under business circumstances. The two, regardless of affection for each other, harshly tested and harassed one another relentlessly.... but nothing done could have ever truly sent them in different directions. Not until recently. The pink-haired Miqo'te has become quite busy caring for her new husband and child so the two friends only cross paths from time to time. Life has seemed to come between them, but the care they have for one another has not been lost.

Khale Embrise ( ) - The Friends Husband
In her mind, Khale and Alothia were one in the same. Regardless of her reservations of how quickly the two bonded, K'ajia resigned to her place as supportive friend to Alothia and quickly warmed to the man in her own way-- of course after a few "rough" spots. Khale, while not always making the best impression, seemed to understand the strong bond between the two Miqo'te and weathered K'ajias rather harsh nature with a sort of balancing act that she had not witnessed in others prior. The passion between Khale and Alothia allowed her to trust someone much quicker than in other circumstances and now considers him a friend... though the two bicker quite often.

Personal RP Limits
Do: Mature content and themes (violence, sexuality, drug / alcohol use, etc.) as logical in a plot-driven encounter. Coarse and excessive language. Temporary injury and incapacitation. Temporary captivity or imprisonment.
Ask: Long-term and/or permanent injury and disfigurement. Long-term captivity or imprisonment.
Don't: Permanent character death. Mature themes that are not related to plots or character development. (That means you, creepy individuals who send unwarranted ass-grabbing tells.)

Combat Systems
Roll: This simple battle system is something I grew up using and enjoy thoroughly. I tend to use detailed paragraphs (I don't expect 4+ paragraphs) to explain actions that are being placed in combat. It uses a roll system which the person playing the attack will roll and the defender will need to roll higher to defend.(using ingame /random rolls)
Designated Personal Systems: Everyone has their own system for group combat RP which they themselves made or they made for their Free Company. I am open to discovering, learning, and uses all kinds!
Freeform/Honor System: I will only acknowledge the honor system with people I trust or know won't be literal jerks in RP. I will often request the basic roll system (See t1) for fights with people I do not truly know but am willing to Freeform/Honor system it if you can prove you are not going to just Naruto/Bleach up the fight as well as avoid EVERYTHING thrown at you, even within less then an inch of the attack.

OOC/IC Separation
Note: I have a very clear distinction when it comes to OOC/IC. They must remain separate at all times if we are to RP together, especially on an extended basis and I reserve the right to end interactions should this be impeded upon. If my character dislikes yours that does not mean I hold the same sentiment. If my character loves yours that does not translate to me feeling the same for you, though I might feel a platonic equivalent. I am not my characters and they are not me. Respect this and we shall get along famously.
