Basic Info

Orako Echelon is an eccentric gambler, confidence man, and airship captain "Sky Pirate". He is an alcoholic, a smoker, and a roustabout. He is often friendly, but makes obvious his self serving agenda. he has a sharp wit but makes terrible decisions and causes havoc for himself and those around him. Many don't realize that he is a skilled fighter and excellent shot. His closest allies and himself were captured by Garleans during the Battle of Carteneau, but he has very little memory of the incident or his time spent in Garlemald custody as a research subject. He knows the event changed him physically and is constantly looking for aid among Alchemists, Thaumaturges, and Conjurers to solve the mystery of what happened to him and his colleagues.

Orako is a freelancer and a bard. He is always learning new skills for combat, scouting, and military strategies. He takes his work very seriously, but takes his time away from work just as seriously. He does very little in life in moderation, the very concept seems foreign to him.

History

Orako Vogue Echelon was born by another name to a family of explorers. They traveled the world and watched Garlean influence rapidly take root across vast territories. Orako spent most of his adolescent and early adult life as a privateer aboard both sea and air fairing ships. He has joined a multitude of small militias, security companies, and private armies for a range of jobs from protection, to smuggling, to assassination. Roughly two years before the Calamity, Orako first set foot on Eorzean soil. He was on the run from pirates, Garlean Military police, and various other grudge holding parties which Orako has crossed in his journeys. He has been over much of the world on an airship, and has set port at many harbors in his time at sea.However Orako Hasn't spent much time seeing the world while standing on it with his own two feet. Eorzea is a special place for Orako because of all of the places he has been, this is the only continent where he is actually familiar with the terrain. He came to Eorzea not only to escape his old life and join in the lifestyle of adventuring,but to also take his father's advice given to him long ago.

"My boy, we have been places, you, your mother, the crew and I, but of all the horizons which have been forever etched on my eyes, none compare to those of Eorzea. It's where we are from, son, and it has no equal. If ever you get the chance to see the home of your father, and his father before him, I recommend going there." Orako's Father when Orako was still a boy.

When the battle of Carteneau reached its peak, the Elder Primal Bahamut was released from his Allagan prison, Dalamud and wreaked havoc across the land. While many warriors of light were rescued, Orako and a small number of other soldiers were captured by Garleans. They were experimented on in order to study aetherial properties of people when exposed to aetherially irradiated fragments of Dalamud. These fragments were collected and studied by Garlean Magitechnicians as a part of their Weapon project. Many of the captured Eorzeans were altered if they were lucky enough to even survive the invasive experiments.
