Character

Male Keeper, raised by Lohengarde most of his life near the volcanoes of Abalathia's Spine. His profession is a field doctor, using his magical prowess to help mend and aid the sick and injured. His favorite hobby when not on a job was to teach and educate youth's in his travels, teaching them how to avoid the dangers of the wild, or what herbs are best for healing or just safe to eat. When L'oki started going blind his focus fell quickly from his leisurely duties, turning instead towards a way to repent, and maybe repair his lost sight. Luck happened to place him in contact with a special individual, and has replaced his right eye with one made from a combination of Crystal Aether and Magitek. Using his newly restored vision, and destroying the source of the sickness, he was only barely able to cure his other eye. The experience leaving him immensely drained, since he's out of the catacombs of the Lost City, something is not quite right.

♦ Appearance

L'oki Wulfskar stands tall for a Miqo'te at 5'7", ears perked at a even 6'0". His body is athletic and lightly scarred from quick healing after various battles. He bears a deep scar up to his right eye, which now holds a new eye made from a combination of a unique Aether Crystal and Magitek, courtesy of A'quila Tsaka. His new eye looks normal far enough away, but taking closer inspection reveals an intricate pattern of machinery and artistry within the Golden color, contrasting his left sky blue 'original' eye. He has a strong, broad features for a Keeper, and a tuft of fur beginning to cover his chin and jaw. His skin is a blue shade of grey, keeping his natural camouflage best used at night underneath a full moon. His fur is ticked, showing mostly a dark blue with bits of red showing mostly around the face. L'oki always bears his favorite red face-paint, a horizontal stripe across the eyes, an homage to both his adopted family and his own kin.

♦ History

L'oki was very young when his tribe began venturing further and further from their lands, following prey that began migrating almost too far for them to follow. L'oki himself, unfamiliar to the newer surroundings, found himself surrounded by terrifying beasts. One night, while exploring the new territory, he wandered too far, and came across the path of three large creatures. By the time his clan found him, he had lost his right eye completely, laying in a stream with wild wolf fur clutched in his fingers. Bad luck seemed to follow the clan until their Matriarch began growing ill. At first it seemed a blessing when another tribe happened upon them, offering food and safety. It wasn't too long after the Matriarch passed away, that the clan began following the requests of these seemingly benevolent brethren. Eventually deciding to merge clans under the rule of their leader, a sweet looking old Keeper. The old, grey-haired woman seemed so kind and nurturing, no one even noticed the one or two cubs going missing. On one particular evening the Old Keeper smiled choosing young males from the tribe to be brought to a special place. The city was so large, covered thick in a odd mist, and the stench of stale spores in the air, the ruins of an great and lost city, Amdapor. Here no one from either clans objected as they tossed the young boys into the darkness of a old cathedral, no one flinched an inch at the cries of fear and pain. L'oki was weak, even for a sacrifice, but was swallowed by the thick dark shadow just as quick. L'oki Remembers waking to a terrifying sight, a terrifying devil looked down upon him with intrigue. A painfully cold voice filling his mind as the monstrous entity spoke, offering the weak keeper boy a deal. His life spared, his sight restored, and in return L'oki would become a tool, the eye outside the realm of this Dark King. L'oki hesitated for only a moment, fixated on a bubbling hatred, a rage he had never known before screaming for revenge.

When L'oki awoke, a new eye, glowing a deep purple, gazing upon a land full of fire and heat. Laying in the back of a cart headed straight for the volcanoes of Alabathia's Spine. A traveling Lohengarde(Hellsguard), mercenary had found L'oki on the road during his travels. Remembering the aid a keeper healer once gave his brethren. He took the young Miqo'te into his care, allowing the boy's affinity for the magical arts to grow on it's own. Never really feeling out of place amongst his adopted family, he found an odd sense of honor in his work as he often enjoyed the contracts his new family took. From putting some dead things back to rest, to hunting bandits, he enjoyed the work and that he felt useful. Growing fond of his new tribe, he became obsessed with study and practice to ensure he could keep them safe. They named him 'Wulfskar' for the obvious reason, and treated him like a fellow Hellsguard. Finding ways to add some barter to his clan's mercenary contracts, L'oki began snagging a book or two, teaching him more about the lands and cultures around him until he had attained his own personal library. Keeping his mind as trained as his body, he took it upon himself to teach his new brethren some useful tricks. Nothing fancy, just how to mend a wound, or protect from magic. Enjoying the experience of teaching others, he began educating the children, not just how to keep safe, but on all the various cultures, arts, and wonder he'd learned in his travels or from the literature he could scavenge. Life seemed well, full of entertainment and adventure, the only thing L'oki would worry about were the dreams.

A sight into lands far away, where his old clan now hunt. L'oki would dream and see them becoming twisted, corrupted by the darkness he had hoped never to know again. The visions intensified becoming too much to ignore, he knew he had to leave his new family, he had to go back. After years from his clans territory, he returned to the familiar forests and cliffs, tracking their movements, always a day behind, always finding a more gruesome scene in their wake. On a night that seemed too familiar for comfort, he finally caught up to them, watching them from atop a cliff, being very careful not to be seen. A Thunderous, cold voice filled his mind, and as he held his ears in pain, L'oki's eyes turned down to see a rage take over the Keeper's below. L'oki sat paralyzed, watching them ripping each other apart, tearing, clawing, eating... The voice eventually a roaring calamity in his mind, and he lost all sight, all senses before leaping down to the chaos below. When he awoke, his ears still ringing, he was completely soaked in blood. Family and kin in pieces and shreds all around him. Looking at his own claws stained red, he strained to see them fully, but before fully realizing his diminished sight, he notices someone nearby. The only other survivor, the old woman Keeper, a sickening smile on her face as he charged towards her. Before she could mutter whatever filth she had planned she was silenced, painfully, for everything she had done. Having finished off the last of ties to his birth clan, he left his territory behind, making his way as best he could as his vision would slowly begin to fail in both his eyes.

L'oki wandered Eorzea, taking whatever mindless tasks he can find to keep his mind busy. After some time trying to remedy his own malady, luck would happen him across the path of a young aspiring machinist known as A'quila. After some time he grew fond of the young inventor, and from random curiosity, asked if a new eye could be made from the kinds of machines and technology she was beginning to study. After some time and specific items were acquired, L'oki received a gift from A'quila. His appreciation for his replacement would come greatly when he gazed upon himself, being able to see and with such an amazing piece of craftsmanship. The orb held a glow to it, crafted from a specific aether crystal and risky forms of magitek. Golden in color and rich in it's intricacies, if you look close enough you may be able to see the machinery. Disregarding his own advice for at least an assistant for his experimental surgery, L'oki prepped his instruments and tools within a hut, deep inside outer La Noscea. There L'oki began the painstaking process of removing his right eye, cutting down the scar he always bore to better remove his useless orb. A pain more excruciating than he can ever recall, and being the only 'Mender' he knew he could trust, he powered through the pain without anything to dull the pain and affect his dexterity. Using his knowledge of mending, he began re-attaching certain nerves to the machinery of the new orb. Using his magic and 'questionably' sanitary instruments, the process took a couple of hours, and left him drained. Using his last bit of energy to heal himself as best he could, he began to make out silhouettes in the room, a smirk forming after hours of agony on his blood drenched face. Feeling his body slowly begin to accept the new orb as his eye, he found himself conflicted, his sight was returning, better than before, at least in his new eye, but the use of his original still eluded him.
Following his assault through the Lost City of Amdapor, he seems to have changed, a colder look in his eyes than before. The battle that was waged within the deepest part of the city had left him drained, and almost empty. As he stood victorious, a searing pain filled his left eye, as a voice called to him. A thundering roar fading away into the dark, it's last words leaving L'oki with a paralyzing dread as he collapsed to the ground. Awaking confused and and exhausted, he happened to glance down to see a baby bat. Thinking at first it's best to put it out of it's misery, he hesitates. Noticing his left eye was gaining it's sight back and feeling a sudden sense of pity, or maybe kinship towards the creature. L'oki picked up the small frail creature up and made his way out, leaving the city he feared all his life behind, those last words, stuck in his mind like a splinter. As he took one last look back towards the gates of the decrepit city, he saw the first of the hallucinations to come, something that truly and deeply disturbed him.

♦ Behavior

Usually well mannered, he used to enjoy the idea of being handy for folk. Inquisitive and well read, he loved helping any in the pursuit of education, taking about any chance he could get to play 'teacher' for a moment. Since his self inflicted surgery, however, he's feeling himself withdrawing, staving off a cold chill that's started to creep throughout his mind.

Hearing distant whispers in his sleep, and spotting 'shadows' from the corner of his eye are beginning to make him slip from sanity. Withdrawing into himself, he remains vigilant in his current duties, but wonders how much more he can take before he could snap again. His greatest fear and threat was dealt with, but it left a stain in him he can't seem to wash away. Debating leaving his current 'situation' out of fear of going mad around his acquaintances, and what the consequences of doing so may be.

Combat

  • Martial: Being Raised by Lohengarde so close to the dangers of ‘The Spine’, L’oki is familiar with a wide range of weaponry. Focusing on learning all forms of battle strategies from old texts or from the battles seen across the volcanic landscape. He putting some of his own plans into effect, successfully keeping his squad alive without casualty until his departure. Preferring his mind and magic however doesn’t mean he isn’t capable of getting a dagger past your defenses. Studying many forms simultaneously, he is not the most talented, but he is very well rounded.
  • Magic: Specializing in Healing and Black Magic, he's been furthering his understanding of the Arcane arts.
  • Other: Using his talents with a need or hammer, he's keen to make some quick gil either through healing, crafting, or if times are slow and gil short he'll fall into his hidden specialty as an 'Escort'.

★ Recent RP events ★

A'quila Tsaka has given him a new eye, owing her a massive debt he hopes he can someday have the chance to repay.
L'oki travelled deep into the Lost City, and since he's emerged, something has been off.
Starting to have audio/visual hallucinations, varying from barely noticeable to sometimes intensely graphic sights and sounds.

Tendencies

L'oki has tendencies to loose sight of his goals, or duties due to a pretty face. Strong dominant women tend to be his 'Achilles heel'. Lately however he's found himself stalking folk without a second thought to it. Feeling urges and dangerous thoughts starting to grip him, he's trying his best to keep his composure and control, with small bursts of growing insanity only barely touching the surface.
