Nalli Blythe (pronounced NAL-lee blaɪθ) (21st Sun of the 4th Astral Moon (July 21^st)) is a first-generation Eorzean-born Xaela Au Ra that has grown up most of her life in Coerthas Central Highlands, estranged from most others of her kind. Her travels and curiosity have taken her through several parts of Eorzea, primarily Limsa Lominsa, where her fascination of books led her to take up study within the arcanist's guild. Currently, she is back in Coerthas studying things she has still yet to understand and document them. Where she goes next, it's any ones guess.

Appearance & Personality

Personality: Whether she knows someone or not, her first impression she gives off is outgoing and curious. Every word you say, Nalli will be attentive and listen. But don't think she won't ask you questions afterwards. Most of the time, she won't be nosy, just wondering or perhaps clarifying something you said. But she'll wait for questions right back, for it is only fair for her to do the same. Once you get to know her, she'll do her best to make sure that anyone she knows is kept safe. While she might not be the best physical fighter, Nalli's loquacious nature can win battles more intellectual. Perhaps she doesn't sound like most war-mongering Xaela Au Ra, even she herself knows that. But don't let it fool you that she does not have a tendency to lash out. Nalli has a higher tolerance level, but once someone breaks that threshold, she won't be afraid to send a dagger straight to the throat.

Appearance: When not covering herself up, Nalli has a distinct look amongst those in Eorzea. For starters, her complexion is a mixture of a purplish or bluish hue. Surrounding her face and on the bridge of her nose, one can clearly see her lustrous, black scales that identify her as a Xaela Au Ra. Her platinum blonde hair is short with slightly longer bangs in the front. While her large horns can be rather distinguishable, she has two tiny ones on the side of her bangs. Aside from her facial features, Nalli is one of the taller females of the Au Ra. She is also notably lethe, noting small breasts that don't get in the way when she is fighting.

Clothing wise, Nalli tends to wear robes with a sash that holds her potions. Furthermore, she prefers wearing some kind of tights or pants under her robe in order for more flexibility.

Biography

Sometimes to know a person, it doesn't matter only about his/her past that reflects on who they are, but also his/her family. For Nalli Blythe, that is no different.

Before her birth, both her maternal and paternal Xaelan tribes were allied within Othard steppes. While one would think their lives would be filled with triumphant victories against the other tribes that ought to do them harm. But that isn't always the case. Headed by her grandmother, the tribe her mother hailed from was much more aggressive and ready for a fight than that of her paternal side's. A plan had been set up to overtake a tribe that had settled no more than 300 yalms from the tribes current location. The other Xaela tribe was hesitant, feeling something was amiss. But several men and women offered their services - in order to keep the alliance from being broken.

A battle ensued. Many lives were lost. The tribe that had seemed nothing more than a sitting duck had been waiting for an ambush, being highly prepared. Bottle-necking the two allied tribes, several ran, regardless of their honor to fight until the very end. One such person was her paternal grandfather, who was more solemn in nature. He had thought the plan that was put in place was not thought out and would have lead to disaster. Unlike him, the maternal grandfather, the matriarch's husband and life long mate, was slain in battle before being dumped into a near by river.

The losses were devastating. From her maternal side, her grandmother and mother were among the remaining 7 survivors of the group. Nalli's paternal side fared better with 19 members, including both grandparents and her father. (Granted, her grandpapa, as Nalli calls him, suffered a missing eye. But that was a small price to pay for his life.) A decision had to be made with these lower numbers. With leaders from both tribes, they came to a final decision in order to secure a future for everyone. It was to leave the steppes of Othard. To leave a home they had known their entire life. And it was that push that would lead them to Eorzea.

Both tribes had travelled to Doma. While there was a natural clash of ideals with the Raen that had already settled there, their time there was not long. From what Nalli hears, her tribe lived there for no more than two months before sailing to Eorzea, landing in Vesper Bay. The citizens whispered things about the 'dragon-looking' people that had arrived. While the matriarch could have asked for refuge within the halls of Ul'dah, Xaela tradition and ways run deep. She chose for the remnants of both tribes to find home in an area that was like Othard. For most, including her parents, they found refugee in Eastern Thanalan - having enough places for hunt and shelter.

Between both tribes, they would live harmoniously for many years. Eventually, Nalli's parents had the same sappy love story and finally wed each other at a much later age than everyone thought.

Childhood

Nalli was born somewhere within Coerthas Central Highlands, close to Camp Dragonhead. A few months before her birth, her mother and father decided it would best best to change their surname to something that would allow their child and themselves to travel slightly more freely instead. (Assimilating into a culture other than their own had many benefits.) During her first few years of life, it was easy for her parents to cover her horns and allow her to travel freely within the camps while they still kept their faces hidden under robes. Her horns were not fully grown, scales not covering part of her face. For now, she could pass as a young elezen or miqo'te (with a hat). But even a small fix could only last so long.
