However it should be noted that he does not display traditional traits of albinism. Closer to leucism, if you require real-world reference. He towers, a pale stretch of strength built for use, not show. ❝ I am not so strange, unless you name me so. ❞ Appearance Eyes Hair Skin Build Voice Pale Grey White White skin, white-and-black scales.. Mesomorphic Bass-Baritone Bearing Laterality Scars Markings Style Relaxed Left Left brow, knuckles, shoulderblades and back-scales Small inked lotus on left wrist Ascetic, Simple Hair & Eyes Shorn, parted on one side, clean. He keeps his hair shorter than the average Au Ra, lacking adornments or coverings. Physique & Markings Obvious laborer, lean and broad-shouldered with a tucked waist as is his somatype. Some evidence may be seen of a more violent prior vocation in his arms, hands, legs, and feet. The inked lotus on the underside of his left wrist is simple, facing his palm. Many of the scales on his back feature nicks, or scarring, and several more are starkly white. His palms, fingers, and the soles of his feet are well-calloused. Hygiene & Attire Typically decently clean. May occasionally smell of timber, oils, and animal fats. Personality Psychological Profile Chagatai's default intense expression and quiet nature belie a warmth and mildness. He plays easily the part of simple carpenter, but is oh-so much more. Thoughtful and intuitive, passionate yet even-tempered, self-sufficient and of paternal mind. These are the simplest manners by which to describe him. Voice With minor rises into tenor uncommon, the bass-baritone of Chagatai's voice is best describe as sonorous, or perhaps modulated, if you prefer. It is rare to be above an unobtrusive volume, but he naturally projects, leading to a strict control over just how loud he is. Even with his build he has little to fear in being dropped unceremoniously into rough surf. Time with the Ejinn fostered a trained lung capacity and complete lack of fear of being submerged. In short, Chagatai is as much at home in the water as he is on land. ● Carving: Though he hardly speaks of it, Chagatai has an eye for creating works both functional and not out of wood. Marquetry, relief-carving, and root-carving are his favored practices. Rarely does he carry his own works with him, however. In structures, he often uses relief-carving or marquetry to make his 'signature' as it were, a lotus in the beak of a slender bird. ● Hand-Language: It should be noted that this refers not only to the Moks' form of communication, but also that which may be used by the deaf and/or mute. Combat Abilities ● Joint-lock: You will likely never witness this. However, Chagatai does possess a certain knowlege of how to temporarily and harmlessly cripple others in the form of joint-locks. He's most proficient in leg and small-joint manipulations. ● Shrug-it-Off: Built for punishment, he doesn't go down easily and often seems entirely unaware of his own wounds. His tenacity to outlast opponents can be both a boon and serious hindrance. OOC Note I prefer to talk it out either during or prior to a fight scene. I am open, fair, and want to give people their time to shine while not compromising the integrity of anyone's character in strength or weakness.

History . Disclaimer: History should typically be an Icly-discovered set of details, but for sake of argument I'll say this: Chagatai is not especially forthcoming about his history. In addition, I am more-than-open about forging potential synchronizations in backstories if you talk it out with me. Sixth Astral Era Childhood A child of a Moks mother within the Qalli tribe, Chagatai has always known the idea of impermenance and independance. He has wandered and wormed his way into a small number of tribes through guile, deception, and usefulness. From the Qalli he learned the value of emotion and how it might be feigned by his mother and older brother. From the Khatayin he learned how to hunt in unforgiving landscapes, how to survive and plan for the future. From the Ejinn he learned where his home was: in the water. Suffice to say that this is the sparknotes version. Seventh Umbral Era Adulthood While the details are few and far-between, what is known is this: Chagatai sired two children, is a widower, and said deceased partner was the mother of neither child. In addition, some number of years prior to the flight to Eorzea were spent in the company of Raen, not Xaela. In Recent Times Moving Forward Thanalan was where Chagatai found himself first, as a refugee and with little to offer in the city of Ul'dah but his skills in deception, and his fists. Months, a year, perhaps two, passed with his head barely held above death in fighting rings. Such a life however wears on the mind and body, and the already-aging Chagatai had little to give. With the last of his coin he purchased needed tools and a ferry ticket away from the desert. Since then he's wandered and taken up temporary-residences in locales where he can find work framing buildings, fitting furniture, and repairing wood-based weaponry. If he yet fights, it is not witnessed by many.

Though they've historically been amicable, tensions between them springing from a difference in philosophy has left the true nature of their relationship uncertain. Shar Noykin (Daughter) - ● Like her elder brother Ulagin, Shar spent just enough time with her father amongst the Khatayin before moving onward to find her own life amongst the Noykin. The difference between them lies in the strength of the bond between Shar and Chagatai, one the latter was loathe to lose. However, Shar was firm about her independence and the abrupt cutting of the cord, as it were, left a strained note on their relationship. While there is no ill-will between either of them, there is an awkwardness.
