Feisty. Irascible. Aloof. K'ajia has a hot-and-cold personality and is acutely aware of her small stature when compared to those around her-- deeply despising being under estimated. Those who make the mistake of doing so eventually experience the far reach of her ire, intellect, and long-game cunning. Naturally, Kaj is slightly dysfunctional when it comes to building relationships, tending to keep most individuals at arms-length, and only shows her more warm nature behind closed doors or confined to private conversation with those close to her. One of the more notable reasons for her rather prickly behavior is her lack of trust in others. She expects most people to be using her to further their own needs or seek to cause harm. Because of this, as well as her own strong social anxiety, she rarely allows herself get close to anyone. It generally isn't an issue since her overall demeanor tends to repel most that cross her path. Although the small Miqo'te woman can seem callous, she is truly a kind person to those who manage to win her loyalty. Those that can weather and meet her aggression long enough to gain her trust discover themselves in the company of a very trustworthy and thoroughly loyal ally. While she still has the tendency to joke around and provoke her friends, she will be far more willing to deny herself such manipulation or harassment and become much more nurturing to those who cope with her fickle ways.

L I K E S

Gossip & Secrets. She loves knowing other peoples business and making it into a business of her own. The more personal and detailed the better. This goes hand-in-hand with her hobby of people-watching.
Sotol & Saffron. Sotol is a distilled spirit made from the Dasylirion wheeleri while the Saffron flower is a herb gathered and used for cooking and trade in Thanalan. Both were the main trade-good for her tribe and hold a very strong sentimental value. Can be found through North and South Eastern Thanalan.
Reading. Not only does she love to read about the Flora & Fauna of Eorzia, but she also genuinely enjoys poetry and lengthy novels of all kinds.

D I S L I K E S

The Ul'dan Syndicate. See Timeline.
Losing. Competitive to a fault.
Braggarts & Boasters. She cannot stand people with their noses held-high in the air and refuses to hold her tongue around this type of individual. She will not hesitate to swiftly bring them right back down to Hydaelyn.

S T R E N G T H S

Determination & Quick to learn. Once she sets her mind on a goal or ideal, she will not stop.
Martial Arts. Due to her upbringing, K'ajia is a skilled mixed martial artist.
Practical skills. She can hunt and is a skilled herbalist and fondly familiar of traditional tribal cooking.
Visual and Musical Arts. She has training in dance, something she doesn't disclose often or practice unless for martial training, as well as playing the Sitar which she does in private moments of calm. Sharing these skills with others openly would be out of her character or incredibly rare.

F A U L T S

Selfish. K'ajia can be self-serving and often puts herself first before others.
The Chill. If something frustrates her or bothers her and she can't fight it or fix it, she will quickly turn to seclusion or evading situations or individuals that make her uncomfortable rather than face them.
Violent Adrenaline Seeker. K'ajia is a violent woman by nature and lives for the thrill. She has been known to get physical quickly with even her closest friends and is incredibly critical of anyone she meets. It is not beyond her to act out of character just to get a rise out of people or dismantle their assumptions to watch them struggle to cope.

Q U I R K S

Animated. K'ajia is quite the animated Catte. Her expressions and reactions can be quite vivid!
Alone in a crowd. She hates large gatherings of people where she is required to interact. On the other hand, tucking herself away in a corner to watch passers by is one of her favorite hobbies.
Touch. Unwarranted physical contact can make her quite uncomfortable, sometimes even instinctively violent or incredibly uneasy.

W E A L T H

Saffron. Sotol. Secrets. The three "S"s of K'ajias income. For one week each year, gorgeous purple flowers bloom in only a few places around the Eorzea. What remains of K'ajias tribe wade into the purple seas to harvest the blooms by hand and then pick their stamens to sell as saffron. The harvest process is tedious, but these high-maintenance flowers are also very selective about the climates that they grow in and the yields are very hit or miss. Each flower - or saffron crocus - produces about three stamens, which must be picked by hand. About 150 flowers are needed to produce a gram of saffron and saffron can sell for between 2,000 to 10,000 Gil per pound. K'ajia assists in the sale as well as transport and collection of the Saffron, allowing herself and those involved to reap the rewards.

While Saffron can be a risky trade depending on one short week a year of harvest, Sotol as well as the Desert Spoon itself has become a more steady trade option to fill in the gaps near year-round in the Hipparion tribes . Sotol is a distilled spirit made from the Dasylirion wheeleri, Asparagaceae (commonly known as Desert Spoon), a plant that grows through North and South Eastern Thanalan. It is known as the regional drink and popularized among the common-folk. There are few commercial examples available; a large amount of current stock within the great city of Uld'ah having passed through the hands of the Hipparion tribe and/or the Refugees of Little Ala Mhigo they have allied themselves with. The flowering stem of Sotol is one of the best materials for making a friction fire, as it is straight, light in weight, and strong. As it is straight, the stem requiring little to no straightening prior to use, it is still commonly used as a lance and spear among her tribe, the latter with an attached stone or metal point. The base of a cooked Sotol stem may be eaten rather like an artichoke leaf (by scraping across the front teeth). This remnant, called a "quid", resembles a spoon and can be used as one.

The Desert Spoon takes approximately 15 years to mature and yields only one bottle of Sotol per plant, which means the requirement of multiple harvest plants turning over and maturing in a staggered fashion in order to be reliable. The lost of one harvest can be detrimental-- something the Hipparion tribe is all too familiar with and accounts for with large underground root cellars. Desert Spoon typically grows on rocky slopes. Unlike agave, which flowers only once in its lifetime, Desert Spoon produces a single flower stalk every few years. Once the plant matures, it is harvested. The outer leaves are removed to reveal the center core, which is taken back or sold to a distillery. The core can then be cooked and/or steamed, shredded, fermented, and distilled.

Sotol Age Classifications:
Plata Un-aged, straight from distillation to the bottle.
Reposado (rested) Aged several months to a year.
Añejo Aged for at least one year.

As a fully blooded Seeker woman, K'ajia possesses a coffee skin tone and thick, silky hair the color of Indian-ink. From her mother, she got a golden-colored gaze and plush lips. From her father, she received dark, framing brows, long lashes, and a slim nose. She is athletic physique with a slight pear-shaped build toned by her lifelong martial training and active lifestyle.
She is most often seen in garments of Miqo'te/Ul'dan design, though she occasionally wears mixed culture fashions, or even melds the two together in an odd, exotic fusion. Common elements of dress include rich colors, brocades, beaded or jeweled collars and bracelet cuffs, bangles, bells, tassels, henna, headscarves, hip scarves, saris, sashes, harem pants, midriff blouses and jackets, and other ornate jewelry-- although all worn in a simplistic fashion and never gaudy.

K'ajia was raised in Southern Thanalan within a deeply tribal Seeker clan amongst the sharp cliffs and unforgiving sands that her tribe has called their home for many generations. The small tribe is well known in the region for their martial prowess. The difficult environment and constant sabotage from not only the Amal'jaa, but also the Uldan Syndicate, persuaded the small Hipparion Tribe to strongly ally itself with their close neighbors, refugees of Little Ala Mhigo, and the U tribe located in the Sagolii. Thus, she was raised with extensive training in various martial skills, both for hunting and subsisting in an often barren and harsh arid environment and for striking down her enemies without prejudice nor hesitation. While she doesn't typically appear to be a woman of great bestial strength, she is certainly more than capable of flooring a full-grown Roegadyn man twice her size. The laid-back Miqo'te woman holds an almost eerie sort of focus and drive, and she can be downright merciless when pushed.
In terms of combat style, K'ajia is more reliant upon her natural agility than any sort of brute strength or force. True to her race, she is sure-footed and precise, and an early lifetime spent in Broken Water brought with it a sense of comfort and familiarity in uneven terrain and high-up vantage points. She prefers to fight at close range and, if she can help it, by taking her opponent unawares.

M E L E E

Hand-to-hand combat is K'ajias most preferred style of combat and with equal or greater statured opponents. While she is proficient in both stealth and open-combat, she tends to favor the former because of its relative convenience, quietness, and practicality in hunting.

B L A D E S

More often than not, K'ajia keeps an ivory-handled hunting knife, crafted from Hipparion bone, tucked away securely on her person - in a boot, at her hip, or under her shirt. Other times she can be found with more than one-blade. Most of the time, she uses the small dagger for its intended use of hunting and gathering. However, it also serves as a last resort defense should she need it. The other pair of blades she possesses are only used when fighting more intelligent and formidable prey. Given her length of time and degree of familiarity with this type of weapon, she is very skilled in its use.

S T E A L T H

K'ajia received training and experience in battle by conducting raids on Amal'jaa camps in the jagged terrain of Broken Water and the Sagolii. Likewise, she also participated in reconnaissance and refugee smuggling on occasion. Thus she developed a more stealth-oriented combat skill set, learning the best ways to hide, see without being seen, and hear without being heard.

T R A C K I N G

This skill developed from her more tribal origins and racial advantage. A keen sense of hearing and smell lend itself to being able to track down her quarry over an impressive distance. Aside from physical capabilities that allow this, she also possesses the requisite knowledge and sense of logic to make her quite efficient at this.

H Y P O A L G E S I A

K'ajias tolerance for pain grows every passing day. While she still experiences it physically, she is able to separate it and withdraw from the psychological sensation of pain to a certain extent. This defense mechanism allows her to keep going even when injured for longer than the average person. However, it also makes her far less aware of her limits, making it possible for her to unknowingly push herself too far into the realm of serious injury.

T I M E L I N E

Youth
1549 6AE... K'ajia Ahadi is born to K'ahadi Nunh and K'sita Irwani in the isolated Hipparion tribe residing in the rugged sandstone and cliff-covered regions of Southern Thanalan.
1552 6AE...Theoderic, the King of Ruin, fought to wipe out the Fist of Rhalgr, the Monks of Ala Mhigo.
1554 6AE... K'ajia visits the inner-depths of the Red Labyrinth to pray at the Shrine of Nald-- a yearly tribal tradition in which all families go to pray for favorable trade and safe passage routes for that next year.
1555 6AE... At six cycles-old, K'ajia lost her mother to the Amalj'aa while she was on her way to the Drake Tribe. This was the last time the Hipparion tribe would attempt trade with the Drake Tribe, seeing her rather horrific death as a sign that Nalds blessings for their long-term trade-relationship had run dry.
1557 6AE... K'ajia turned eight cycles-old. At this age, the children of the tribe would be sent off to begin their training in the ways of hunting and survival. From age eight to fourteen her mentors and sire would instruct her in the essentials: martial arts, riding, herbalism and hunting. Meanwhile, the retired women of the tribe would make their worth known by teaching the youth in traditional arts: music, dance, and miscellaneous skills such as tapestry or cooking.
1558 6AE... K'ajia was paired with her first Chocobo, Rajnish, who is her riding companion to this day.
1559 6AE... K'ajia discovered her first childhood friend, K'raj, who was the only male-born Miqo'te of her age. The two had been fierce sparing partners and after nearly killing each other, K'raj immediately warmed and attached himself to her as a friend-- regardless of K'ajia's initial resentment of him. The Miqo'te boy quickly overcame her callous outer-shell with his over-abundant charm, kindness, and friendly enthusiasm.
1563 6AE... At the age of fourteen-cycles, known as the age of adulthood for their tribe, K'ajia had proven herself not only a capable hunter, but also a sure-footed out-rider. While attempting to hunt a Rockskin Peiste she managed to cross paths with an Amalj'aa scout-- deterring the beast-man from his path long enough that he tired and, while he took a moments rest, she managed to loop around and cut the scouts neck-artery. She received markings around her eyes denoting her very keen sense of observation and cunning. She is now allowed to embark on scouting and raiding missions on Amalj'aa forces-- passing through Zanarak.

Young Adult
1566 6AE... After years of interference from outside forces, the small tribe had taken arms with the refugees against the Uldan Syndicate and the Amalj'aa. Only aiding in their fight with the Garlians through supporting the Refugees who managed to find shelter in Southern Thanalan. Over the course of three years of successful in-field experience, K'ajia is chosen for her skills to assume a new, important role to aid the refugees of Little Ala Mhigo-- the Hipparion tribes largest trade-partner-- smuggling supplies from Uldah to Little Ala Mhigo and assisting in the fight against the Uldan Syndicate.
1569 6AE... A sudden sickness strikes the small Hipparion tribe. A supply of rye flour imported from Uldah was found to be tampered with, causing a sickness called Saint Allene's Flux. Not only did it kill off Sultana-loyal Brass Blades in Drybone, but also successfully killed one-third of the small Hipparion tribe as well as a few Ala Mhigan Refugees. One could only assume the Uldan Syndicate was to blame. The tribe is now without any Nhun or leader-- leaving behind a small group of young or retired women. K'ajia's loses both her Sire, K'ahadi, and childhood friend, K'raj.
(( Drybone(Saint Allene's Fire Quest): "After eating bread made from rye flour kept in the camp's storage tents, one of the Drybone's Brass Blades came down with a severe case of Saint Allene's Fire, only to pass away several days later. Though the tainted flour only came from a single sack, Camp Drybone was loath to take any chances and proceeded to dispose of their entire flour supply, and all the items stored with it. To help see those Brass Blades still stricken with the sickness return to health, Quartermaster Mimina has placed an order for a shipment of curative potions with the Jolly Raptor. The trading company seeks alchemists trained in mixing medicines to assist in not only the production of the item, but also the delivery."))
1570-1571 6AE... Was a time of hardship and struggle for the women that remained in the Hipparion tribe. Many find themselves torn between their own culture and the need to live a better life. After many of the young and able women left to assimilate to other larger branches within the Hipparion tribe in different regions/locations, K'ajia encourage the elders to take shelter within Little Ala Mhigo. At first the idea was struck down, but with time the older-women agreed. While most still remain within the tribes original camp, refugees and miqote can be seen co-mingling in both locations-- supporting each other and encouraging trade in Saffron and Sotol.
0001 7AE... With the disposal of Teledji Adeledji from the Syndicate, a rumor emerged-- that due to his regret for his part for the troubles in Ul'Dah, Lord Lolorito Nanarito surrendered Teledji's assets and half of his own personal wealth to the crown, to which Nanamo agreed. Whether this implies true remorse or a ploy is left unknown. In the meanwhile, the interference in trade between Ul'Dah and Little Ala Mhigo and the remaining Hipparion tribe has slowly diminished, allowing the people to maintain a small yet sustainable trickle of wealth through trade routes such as The Red Labyrinth. It would seem as if Nalds blessing has returned... for now. K'ajia, hesitant but eager to carve her own path, has begun to slowly adventure outside the reach of Ul'dah. Not wishing to forsake her own roots, she maintains a healthy relationship with the Hipparion tribe, as a while and all of its multiple sub-tribes, and the people of Little Ala Mhigo.

Alothia Starkwood ( ) - The Close Friend
Alothia managed to befriend K'ajia under business circumstances. The two, regardless of affection for each other, harshly tested and harassed one another relentlessly.... but nothing done could have ever truly sent them in different directions. Not until recently. The pink-haired Miqo'te has become quite busy caring for her new husband and child so the two friends only cross paths from time to time. Life has seemed to come between them, but the care they have for one another has not been lost.

Khale Embrise ( ) - The Friends Husband
In her mind, Khale and Alothia were one in the same. Regardless of her reservations of how quickly the two bonded, K'ajia resigned to her place as supportive friend to Alothia and quickly warmed to the man in her own way-- of course after a few "rough" spots. Khale, while not always making the best impression, seemed to understand the strong bond between the two Miqo'te and weathered K'ajias rather harsh nature with a sort of balancing act that she had not witnessed in others prior. The passion between Khale and Alothia allowed her to trust someone much quicker than in other circumstances and now considers him a friend... though the two bicker quite often.

Template | Profile adapted from Bancroft Gairn, with edits by Xheja Rajhera | N'hadiya Khei | K'ajia. Please do not copy current version.
Personal RP Limits
Do: Mature content and themes (violence, sexuality, drug / alcohol use, etc.) as logical in a plot-driven encounter. Coarse and excessive language. Temporary injury and incapacitation. Temporary captivity or imprisonment.
Ask: Long-term and/or permanent injury and disfigurement. Long-term captivity or imprisonment.
Don't: Permanent character death. Mature themes that are not related to plots or character development. (That means you, creepy individuals who send unwarranted ass-grabbing tells.)

Combat Systems
Teir 1 Combat: An old Tier combat system from Cheetah/Yahoo Chat days. This system is something I grew up using and enjoy thoroughly. This system uses detailed paragraphs (I don't expect 4+ paragraphs) to explain actions that are being placed in combat. It uses a roll system which the person playing the attack will roll and the defender will need to roll higher to defend. Critical hits are welcomed in this system and often are considered if the difference between rolls are over 700 (using ingame /random rolls)
Designated Personal Systems: Everyone has their own system for group combat RP which they themselves made or they made for their Free Company. I am open to discovering, learning, and uses all kinds!
Freeform/Honor System: I will only acknowledge the honor system with people I trust or know won't be literal jerks in RP. I will often request the basic roll system (See t1) for fights with people I do not truly know but am willing to Freeform/Honor system it if you can prove you are not going to just Naruto/Bleach up the fight as well as avoid EVERYTHING thrown at you, even within less then an inch of the attack.

OOC/IC Separation
Note: I have a very clear distinction when it comes to OOC/IC. They must remain separate at all times if we are to RP together, especially on an extended basis and I reserve the right to end interactions should this be impeded upon. If my character dislikes yours that does not mean I hold the same sentiment. If my character loves yours that does not translate to me feeling the same for you, though I might feel a platonic equivalent. I am not my characters and they are not me. Respect this and we shall get along famously.
