Beware, all those who would seek solace from justice in the shadows. Sylvie Noiret is here, and she will bring your misdeeds to light! Especially if the perpetrator is one of those uppity Wildwoods.

Appearance

Sylvie Noiret does not look vastly different from your typical Duskwight. White hair, dark colorless skin. Even her clothing is fairly typical for someone who is learned in the traditional martial disciplines of the Elezen. She comes from a noble Duskwight family, and it shows in her graceful movements. The only two odd things about her would be her long pigtails, going right down to her bottom. Still, they are perfectly stylized as any haircut on a noble ought to be.

The most intriguing part of her appearance would have to be what she had personally dubbed the Tears of Azeyma. Her family, having mostly survived in the East Shroud, descended of Duskwight nobility, having kept the spirit of said nobility if not the title, often carry familial traditions that go beyond the rational. Such were how the Tears of Azeyma born - red streaks covering both the eyes of Sylvie, a sign of one who carries the sorrow of inquiry and the burden of truth.

History

The Noirets used to be Duskwight nobility. Paragons of Elezen elegance and grace, granting both to all - be they pauper or prince.

This was a long time ago, when Gelmorra was still a city.

As many abandoned the underground to live in harmony with the Elementals, the prestige and influence of the Noirets waned and ultimately vanished, erasing their name from history. They, however, did not lament their loss - that the people could live in the Shroud without being harassed by those pesky Elementals was none of their concern. They enjoyed the underground, and would keep striving within it as much as possible.

They went overground in less than five years, their own numbers decimated by a plague of unknown origins.

Few families remain of the Noirets, and most have lost sight of their lofty ideals. Still, they told the stories of the time where all would admire them for their noble qualities and endeavored to keep those alive within the progeny as much as possible. However, as they never became proper Gridanian citizens, nor were they covered by the Pact, they soon found themselves hunted down as poachers or more.

It is in the East Shroud, where the Sylphs reside, that Sylvie was born. Keeping far from Hawthorne Hut and the Coeurlclaw poachers, the Noirets would often find themselves trying to uphold their antiquated ideals in a land seeking to eradicate them, and an incident in Sylvie's youth would show this. Fleeing from a battle between the Wood Wailers and the Coeurlclaw, Sylvie's father tripped and inadvertantly dropped her in front of an ochu, who certainly would not pass up such a wonderful meal.

It is by the grace of the Sylphs that Sylvie was saved - they pulled one of their infamous pranks on the ochu, and saved her from certain death. In reward, both family members decided that on a name that honored those who saved their daughter. Often, they received alms in exchange for helping out at the Sanctum of the Twelve, the only place in the East Shroud next to Little Solace where they would not be considered pariahs or worse, killed.

Living in such a hostile environment often made Sylvie lash out against it, which was severely reprimanded by her parents. Lashing out was not the noble way of the Noirets, and they would remind her at all times. During training, she soon found she had an affinity for the lance, and sought to become competent at it beyond all other weapons. The religious education she obtained at the Sanctum of the Twelve also helped her in understanding her own family's traditions, and more importantly, why she chose to bear the Tears of Azeyma and the burden it means - To pursue the truth, no matter how sorrowful.

Personality

Like many Duskwights, Sylvie Noiret carries a deep grudge against the Wildwood Elezen for obvious racism, and let it be said that she carries the same ugly seeds inside her demeanor. That she has to live in a society shaped by their contributions makes her a bit sour, but she dreams of the day that she will be able to expose their ugliness to the world.

Outside of this grudge, however, she is a very pleasant young lady. Driven to the truth and curious like none other. She is not one prone to outbursts, but she certainly would be unable to contain herself were she to find a clue in an investigation, or some juicy information.
