Sonya Young, born to Adamas Young and Juliana Young née Glass, is a precocious and strong-willed young woman, and hailing from Limsa Lominsa, grew up privileged in a way that most people don't get the option on. Her father, a self made man -- both by legitimate trade and some under the table deals -- doted on his daughter, especially after the passing of his wife. Sonya, prone to getting her way (and surprisingly not a fan of the lack of fight she received from most people) started to act out.
Her father, the man of means he was, sent his daughter to learn the art of an Arcanist, hoping she would find her path and further her own star in a respectable way, though his daughter had other ideas. She began to revel in the slight of hand she could manage after only a little practice and found that she was much more happy when she was toying with the livelihood of others. Though she wasn't exactly keen on stealing from those who didn't deserve it, she did sometimes take a coin purse just to return it later as if they had dropped it. Once or twice, people would call her on her nonsense, but rarely did they find much way to fight as she had returned it unmolested and with a smile that was well-practiced.
It's how the story started, how it blossomed into what it would become, but was nowhere near the end, and even those details seem scant to describe someone who seemed both tempered by fire and delicate as glass.
Sonya is adept at many things, but tends to take great pleasure in certain skills and abilities, displaying and deploying them at regular intervals seemingly.

Though petite, it's still hard for a girl with a shock of white hair to really be 'stealthy', though she manages it fairly well considering her innate ability to not only blend into a crowd -- whether on purpose or just by coincidence -- and her ability to step lightly.

Cloud-walking plays into this, and is a term Sonya thought of to describe the way she glides when she's attempting a stealth job. It's less of a foot fall and more of a delicate placement, almost as if one were bounding across clouds silently, yet quickly.

She learned early on that the magic she was being taught as an Arcanist could easily be applied to the act of conjuring not only beings but also objects and specifics persons if they spell-work were done right, and has since then refined this skill through magicked objects that she uses to swindle would-be swindlers and the like.

Magic Gold is by far her favourite, because she uses it often to free enslaved persons by buying them out; though she could easily afford this, she takes offense to the act of slavery and refuses to pay someone for another's freedom and let them profit from it -- hence magicked gold which is returned to her upon completion of purchase and enough real money spent into finding that person a new home and life.

● Rori Vetinivi - The relationship between these two is complicated on its best day. Sonya takes great pleasure in snaking jobs and marks from Rori and he has said on more than one occasion that he would love nothing more than to put her flat on her ass for doing so; it's likely to end in violence, yet on some level they seem to have a sort of connection and understanding of the other.
