Albant Verrilaux
[edit]
Albant and his sister Adalie held their breathes. Within the cramped, dirty confines of their home, the pair hid. Creaking across the rotted wooden floor, the labored breathing of their mother broke the silence. The woman was sick - even at Albant's tender age, he knew something was wrong. Ever since their father had left to fight in the Dragonsong war, their mother had become increasingly withdrawn and erratic. Sometimes she wouldn't speak for days, muttering to herself and glancing to her two children as if trying to remember who they were. Other nights - like tonight - she was wild, prattling, crazed. Albant's nightmares differed little from nights like these. The two hunkered down behind a smashed cabinet, peering out into the dimly lit room. Their mother, clad in her dirtied night gown, swung a candle around wildly, as if trying to drive off some unknown terror hiding in her periphery vision. Out, damn you, she'd yell. Albant remembered it well - her voice raspy and desperate, a far cry from the gentle, soft sound he remembered from his early childhood.
Albant has a moody appearance about himself, more often than not. His dark hair and fair skin lend him a vaguely sickly appearance, yet his eyes are alert and almost piercing in their depth. As an Elezen, he's quite tall and though he's seen his fair share of physical activity his body is more toned than musclebound. His hair is often slicked back for the sake of neatness though sometimes he'll simply tie it up in a ponytail. His face is gaunt - thin lips, pointed nose, shallow facial features. His gaze is sharp and surprisingly keen, as are his movements. His gait is calm and smooth when at rest and precise and accurate when not - every movement he makes is distinct in one way or another.
Noticeable Features:
Albant is a rather serious individual. When discussing business or important topics, he keeps things simple and succinct - though he may use flowery words in his speech, he keeps things blunt, preferring to discuss problems out in the open. He's the type of individual to bide his time, butting in when he has something of value to contribute. His patient and cautious nature are a boon to his work and sometimes a liability, depending on the job.
