If you roleplay with Sami Molkoh or W'khael Tia, there are spoilers below!!

Appearance

Aya holds the appearance of a Hyuran woman no older than perhaps her early twenties. Despite this fact, her hair is silver, typically kept either shoulder-length or long. Her eyes would be described as a stark magenta. She also bears pale skin, and black tribal-like markings on her shoulders, down her back, and down her sides. You know... when you can see those features, I guess.

History

The information in this section is currently a sensitive secret, knowledge of which could alter the behavior of players. It has been redacted and will be added as it is revealed during play.

Around two years after her arrival in Eorzea (eight years prior to the Calamity), Aya and her companion (a thaumaturge by the name of Agian) began making a name for themselves in some of the more hush hush knowledge circles around Eorzea. They sought knowledge of the realm, and were obviously not from Eorzea itself, though their accents weren't recognizable as some of the more common realms around Hydaelyn. This led quickly to rumors that they were Sharlayan scholars, which they never refuted nor supported.

Before long, the two silver-haired magic users found their way to the home of the S tribe. They surveyed the land on their own for a while, but before long, Aya decided to recruit another into their group, much to Agian's annoyance. So, knowing full well her story, Aya recruited the 'help' of the young Miqo'te S'ami. The peppy young girl was more than ecstatic to aid Aya's fieldwork, and not long after such fieldwork was completed, the young girl begged to be brought along. Agian was obviously displeased when Aya agreed to bring her along (but he's just an NPC, so he never gets his way). Regardless, he eventually agreed with reluctance, and so the trio continued their journeys. Both Aya and Agian helped the Miqo'te learn conjury, while Aya gave her a silk scarf bearing the soul of a White Mage to help her training along.

During the next year, Aya followed several aetheric traces, and soon found another Miqo'te to add to her collection, the young boy W'khael. Despite being of a different tribe, he bore a startling resemblance to S'ami, and the two quickly hit it off. Aya allowed him, too, into the group, and began training him as a rogue.

Spoiler notice: The following contains spoiler information about Sami/Khael's group, if you roleplay with either of them. Proceed at your own risk.

After the Calamity, Aya decided to let S'ami run until she got a hold of her own bearings; she knew that the Miqo'te was alive, and that being alone would greatly increase her powers in conjury, so the scholar turned her attention back to the two who yet stayed with her.

Not willing to tell the young W'khael what had actually happened with his friend, Aya told him that S'ami had disappeared, and that, while she didn't assume her to be dead, they couldn't assume that she was alive. Instead, she told him, it would be best for the three of them to figure out their own placement in this newly terraformed realm. Reluctantly, he agreed, which led them to continue travelling about, intertwining with several well-known NPCs.

Eventually, Aya enraptured more of a following. She made her presence known only in key places, and eventually made her way through the ranks of a scholar society known as the KLK. Before long, she had wormed her way to the top, with her two previous companions by her side, along with many new ones to support her. The group held an inconspicuous manor in The Goblet and traveled the realm, consolidating knowledge and keeping it close to their own chests. Aya made certain to keep the group rather hidden from outside sources, but their name bore tremendous weight whenever they wanted something.

((And then, uh... I transferred realms, and passed off fc-leadership, so...))

Due to the problems faced in Ishgard, Aya took Agian and W'khael, left leadership of the KLK to a trusted follower, and went to the snowy city that had finally opened its gates. Eventually, after hearing tell of S'ami's placement with a group of mercenaries, she sent W'khael after her, and it became just her and Agian again. While in Ishgard, Aya found practitioners of Sharlayan astrology, and although she'd long since favored more powerful magicks, her love of the stars eventually led to her re-studying the controversial techniques.

Recently, she's been devoting more and more of her Time to studying magic, enamored with how the work of Scholars and Astrologians can be used to heal and harm. Chances are, if you run into her, she'll be gazing up at the stars, with a book nearby...

Spoilers end here.

Personality

Aya is the opposite of many stoic-type archetypes, in that she's very - even overly - friendly with people she doesn't know. If it's your first Time meeting her, she'll either give off one or two auras: very withheld, or very peppy, to the point that every word is accompanied by a happy smile ((she's even been known to curl into a ball and roll down the staircase as a potato, before; no, they didn't kick me out, I was welcomed as I am)).

Lately, after devoting more Time to studying beneficial magicks instead of harmful ones, Aya has become much calmer and more thoughtful. If you leave her to herself, she'll end up in her own thoughts in seconds, either watching others, or watching the stars. She enjoys the cold and the night, and as such, you'll often find her lying out in a field on a quiet night.

  • (NPC) Agian: Agian is Aya's faithful follower, who is only very rarely not by her side ((otherwise known as my dutifully faithful retainer whom I've placed at my estate, you know)). He bears a somewhat similar silvery-white hair, but unlike Aya's magenta eyes, he sports icy blue ones. Agian would easily do anything to please his mistress, and would do anything to attain the information she requires... whatever that may be.

  • (PC) S'ami Malkoh: At the age of 10, Sami first met the magenta-eyed scholar Aya Numi. The two quickly became good friends - or at least, Sami thought so - as Sami helped Aya to better understand the layout of the land. Not long after this, Sami tagged along on Aya's adventures, following her all over Eorzea... until an unforseen circumstance led to the young Miqo'te fleeing her friend in fear. Since then, S'ami - now known as simply 'Sami' - has made her home in Drybone, continuing research on her own Time.

  • (PC) W'khael Tia: Khael joined Aya Numi's travelling research group not very long after Sami did. As he was the exact same age as her - and, not to mention, also a Miqo'te - the two became uncannily good friends. Aya and Agian trained him as a Machinist, and his abilities have only grown since the Calamity. He's very loyal to Aya, and now that he's aware S'ami is alive, he likely thinks that she abandoned them. Still, having been good friends with her, he doesn't want to believe this, so Aya has sent him to find out.

  • (PC) Lain Aubrey: Lain Aubrey is a young, feminine boy, who has been travelling with Aya for several years now. Aya, Agian, and W'khael stayed with his family not long after the Calamity, secretly doing research on a circus that the group ran. When they left, it wasn't long before Aya discovered young Lain hiding amongst their things. Rather than throwing him back, though, she took him with, and has been mentoring the young Hyur... while also proving on several occasions that she won't put up with his haughty attitude. She'll occasionally take him along on some of her solo missions, as his ability to masquerade as a pretty young girl has come in handy... numerous Times.

Other Notes

Religion

Aya does not display any obvious idea of religion, but treats the gods as though they certainly exist. However, instead of calling out any specific deity name, she'll either reference the 'Ellosyr' or just simply the 'gods'. Not being from Eorzea, chances are that her knowledge of the Eorzean deities is somewhat limited. Of the Twelve, though, she seems to honor the Fury most of all, likely thanks to her Time in Ishgard.

Quirks

  • She will occasionally potato down the stairs; it's best not to question it.
  • If she feels comfortable with you, chances are that she'll lob a few playfully jabbing comments at you; feel free to throw some back! She loves a good back-and-forth.
  • She will often spend entire sessions just watching other people's interactions. If this happens, don't assume that she's bored! In fact, it may be quite the opposite; she may just be so enamored with your conversation that she doesn't want to intrude.
  • She will, 93% of the Time, have her pet red panda with her.

Known Haunts

You might have run into or otherwise know Aya from:

  • The Quicksand
  • Any main city or town (Ishgard and Idyllshire are her most recently popular destinations!)
  • Walking around The Goblet and some of its own haunts
  • Random fields; you might just trip over her
