Character name: Haru Hattori

Race: Plainsfolk Lalafell

Gender: Female

Profession: Crafter, former adventurer

Appearance: Haru is short, even for a lalafell. So much so that you'd be hard-pressed to find a single person visibly smaller than her. Her skin is pale, and doesn't tan easily. Her eyes are amber. She often has red eye shadow, despite having been told it's gaudy in the past. Her hair is naturally red, and the style is subject to frequent change. Notable Features: Haru's skin is noticeably free of any unsightly blemishes. Even any scars she gets, she uses magic or makeup to hide.

Age: 19

Height: 2'10"

Garments/Armour: Haru values comfort and looks in her clothing. She never wears armor unless she expects to be in a combat situation, and wears either robes or armor as the situation demands. When wearing armor, she prefers medium armor like chainmail to either plate or leather.

Weapon of Choice: Magic and fists, or sword and shield.

Social

Personality: Haru tries to get along with everyone; to a point. If someone makes it clear they don't want to play nice, Haru will give them a piece of her mind. Though she'll probably give you a piece of her mind whether she likes you or not or whether you asked or not.

Alignment: Neutral Good

Strengths/talents: Very focused, intelligent, talented at arcanima, and extreme willpower

Impairments: Stubborn to a fault, big mouth, big ego that is easily bruised, easily embarrassed, head often in the clouds

History

Early History: Haru was born on a small island near Doma dominated by petty warlords. She is the bastard daughter of a minor slaver who owned a small plantation and his slave. A local lord sent his spymaster to find "evidence" of the slaver's treason so he could threaten him to pay more in taxes else be arrested, and while he was there, he fell in love with Haru's mother and bought them both. The spymaster later usurped his lord's land, and Haru was educated in the manners of nobility, to mixed results. Refusing to let someone of such ungentle birth rule so much land, the other lords of the island banded together to kill him. Fearing for her life, Haru paid a captain to take her far, far away. And so she came to Eorzea.

Recent History: Haru had no money at all when she arrived. Following the rumor that Ul'dah was a prosperous city, she sought refuge there only to find the city full and that it would not accept her. Having no marketable skills, she eventually took to banditry to survive; She could afford no weapons, so she did so with her bare hands. She hated it and was ashamed, so once she could afford decent arms and armor with other people's coin, she became an adventurer. Despite many, many near-death experiences, Haru's career in adventuring was surprisingly successful. Her fear for her life while on the job eventually became overwhelming, however, became overwhelming. She sought out old and forbidden tomes, books of health and medicine, anything she could find to help her find a way to make herself unkillable. She devised a spell to make herself immortal which unfortunately failed, ironically almost killing her in the process. After this failure, Haru decided to simply settle down and invest the money made from adventuring into goods to be traded, and became a merchant. She did well for herself, and even started a small company that made and sold armor to the Maelstrom. Being a trader, however profitable it was, never really appealed to Haru though. When she had enough money to live comfortably, she sold the company and took a lot of time to herself just to think, relax, and pursue hobbies. She only truly felt alive in a fight, but also is terrified of dying. She decided to turn to hunting dangerous game -- she was confident enough in her abilities that she knew any animal would have a very hard time killing her, but it was still a fight. When she was planning an expedition into Dravania to find more dangerous things to hunt, she met Balther, and through him, Starfall Trading Company.
