Koh'si Jakkya (17th Sun, 1st Umbral Moon) is a monk based in Ul'dah. Born in the southern Shroud among the Coeurlclaws, he was relocated to Ul'dah at a young age and knows the city like the back of his hand.

Appearance & Personality

Koh'si has pale blue eyes, unkempt auburn hair, and the pale skin characteristic of a Keeper of the Moon. The right side of his face is marked with tattoos he got to remind him of his origins in the Shroud. Though he wears face paint across his eyes like many of the Keepers of the Moon, it is largely to help deflect the glare of the harsh Thalanan sunlight. He is only a bit smaller than average height for a Miqo'te, but will become extremely irate if this small difference is pointed out. His body is built of lean muscle, toned from practicing for hours on end in the Pugilist guild. His tail is slightly longer than normal in proportion to his height.

Koh'si can be rather rash at times, but always means well. He puts the good of those he cares about above his own safety and is strikingly loyal once he has been won over. That said, he can easily become jealous and rather spiteful if he is slighted or feels at all threatened. He enjoys complements and loads of attention, but is always very suspicious of strangers to start. He does not waste his kindness on those who do not return it.

Koh'si has an insatiable curiosity and is often unwilling to take things seriously he if does not find them worth his time as he would much rather pursue something he finds interesting. However, he can be quite finicky and indecisive. Koh'si will often become frustrated if his ventures do not turn out just how he imagined them and he will quickly drop them for the next interesting thing he finds.

Biography

Childhood

Koh'si was born in the Southern Shroud among the Coeurclaws and would often follow after his older brothers on hunts and raids of nearby settlements, though he was much too young to participate himself. It was on one such occasion that he strayed a bit too far and found himself lost in the rush of panicked inhabitants fleeing from the attacking Miqo'te. He was swept along with the refugees and ended up lost, confused, and very much alone in the city-state of Gridania.

Fortunately, he was not lost for long. A Keeper of the Moon named Okha found him (or more likely heard him wailing) by the Rosewood Stalls and took him under her wing. She shepherded him with her to Ul'dah, where she had dreamed of becoming a dancer. Thought it was not quite what Okha expected, she stayed with it--if only to provide for her new charge.

Koh'si (or Kohkoh as Okha calls him) grew up on the Steps of Nald, looked after and cared for by the city's dancers. To this day, he is still fiercely protective of the women who raised him.

Adolescence

As Koh grew older, his need to explore grew with him. Though much of Ul'dah was asleep when he was awake, it didn't take long for him to stumble upon the Pugilist's guild. The boy quickly became fascinated by the quick jabs and kicks he saw thrown on the practice mat and watched the fighters until the sun was high in the sky (which is to say, far past his usual bedtime).

He entered the guild at the first chance he got and has been practicing with a diligence he reserves for only the most important of tasks.

Present

Presently, Koh'si has pushed his exploration to the borders of Ul'dah and is venturing about outside of the city. He doesn't much care where he goes while training, so long as he has a bed and a full stomach at the end of the night.

Miscellaneous

■ Koh'si holds Miqo'te dancers in high respect and will not hesitate to defend them by whatever means necessary.
■ He has some trouble with his vision (especially in daylight) and will often get lost because of it.
■ He regrets piercing his ears.
■ Koh'si's name does not fit the usual pattern for Keepers for the Moon because of a misspelling he made as a child. Instead of properly writing out Koh'li to signify that he was the 3rd son in his family, he mistakenly wrote Koh'si because his hands were shaking from nerves.
