Lots of skin -- scarred and shit but... it's still... nah, I won't ask." ■ "Not even sure what she does anymore. Used to sit all the time on that pot in the Quicksand but lately she's been scarce." ■ "All those scars... creepy as fuck." ◢ Moderate Rumours (Moderately difficult to overhear) ■ "She was out in Dragonhead once... saw her slip out of the gate and down into the valley near there and then she just seemed to lose it and cut a bloody path through that thing... Did I approach her? I'm standin' here, ain't I?! Musical Accompaniment Music is important to me, so while I have a playlist for Lyse called "scarred", I also have a deep need to explore at least a few of these songs and their reasoning for being a part of who she is. "Made of Scars" by Stone Sour was one of the first songs I ever chose. I had always wanted her to have this tapestry of scars across her body that told a story of all the stuff she'd been through. It was to draw into the story about her blackouts and losing entire companies worth of people and being the only survivor surrounded in bodies and blood. More than anything, it's a bit of a nod to the fact that she often is heard saying "Scars are just a reminder that something tried to kill you and failed." because most of hers really should have been lethal. "The Phoenix" by Fall Out Boy addresses my love for fire and how I see Lyse's story moving towards something where she has this note of a Phoenix who won't go down and rises from near-death so often it becomes almost obnoxious. That being said? The theme of the song being about taking the world back and making it into a beautiful thing, and taking things into your OWN hands and helping the people around you become better. She strives to help the people who she sees a sort of flaming-passion in. "Battle Born" by Five Finger Death Punch is not only one of my favourite songs, but every time I listen to it I think of Lyse. For a while her entire existence was a perfect measure of being alone wrapped up in a need to do what she could to make sure others wouldn't have to. Protecting her world, as it were, had become her entire focus after her love had died in Carteneau, which might have even been caused by her. She died for a bit, but never lost that spark for life... but in the end, she is a fighter and she is battle born, so it seemed fitting. Gallery Headshot Notes of Interest IC tidbits Lyse is a survivor of the Battle of Carteneau, having gone in at the ripe young age of nineteen and having suffered massive losses, some of which were her own fault. She is not well known for the battle, however, but you can feel free to know her from there within reason. Lyse's berserk mode has led to actual blackouts and murders on her part; it hasn't happened in a long time. Lyse was engaged to a man who died at Carteneau, but long before Dalamud. Lyse's mother is a big part of the Ala Mhigan Resistance; she does not often tie herself to this and Crofte is a taken name once she moved on to start her own life so it's very hard to tie the two together. OOC Tidbits Some of themes are extremely cliche and Sue'ish, and as much as I care about being true to a genuine story, I feel this is what works for this character in this universe. Lyse was my first character on XIV and has been through a few revisions, and to be honest her stat priority is messed all kinds of ways and I plan to kind of roll her into something more comparable with time, but it takes a lot of swiss-cheese overlooking to do that. Lyse is always looking for contact, and it's recently been revealed that she has a number of half-brothers and half-sisters (some very young, and some older from her father's... uh, exploits during battle) if you'd like to play one, contact me and we can work it out. When I first created Lyse I didn't realise Balmung was closed to new characters and zoned out as I logged in to the wrong server; she was leveled as a Gladiator until level 15 and when my friend asked where I was and we realised I was on the wrong server. ... :)
