Basic Info

Found unconscious on the shore with no memory save his name, he was taken in by a crew of Pirates. After spending five years with the crew, all was lost upon the events of the Calamity. Having lost his current means of living, he wondered around doing odd jobs for several moons before joining up with the Maelstrom, mostly as a means of stablity. He still have very little rememberence of his past, outside of things that feel familiar.

Appearance & Personality

Appearance:

Large with greenish skin. His red hair is receding some, but his beard is kept well trimmed. Has a scar across his is from an unknown injury. He wears a variety of clothing, the most common being the uniforms of the Maelstrom. He also wears his old pirate garbs when he is not on duty and sometimes a special set of armor he received while training for a new style of fighting. He also has a curious yellow triangle tattoo on his right hand.

Personality:

Keeps to himself somewhat, as he finds it hard to interact with people when he has so few memories to share. He has a strange dislike for male Elezen for a reason he can not figure out why. He is slow to anger but has a nasty temper when he does.

Biography

Childhood

Unknown. Due to memory loss he has no recoltion of his childhood or anything up to being found on the beach.

Adult to Present

Found upon the shores of Vylbrand by a small band of Pirates, his combat ability and strength allowed him to rise among the crew. He learned to navigate the waters with surprising ease and became the navigator for the ship. He was also part of the crew that went out and logged trees for repairs to the ship. All in all, he was happy with his life, though always felt something was amiss, and eventually wanted to try and find a way to recover his memories. The world answered this desire and the Calamity brought him his wish.

The day of the Calamity was just a normal day. They had put up anchor at their usual area to resupply on food. That day Mandrag and the cabin boy were out hunting, far from the ship when Bahamut broke free of his prison and rained destruction across the land. This would include areas of Vylbrand and the ship and all the crew nearby were killed in the rain of fire that scattered across the land. Upon returning and seeing the destruction, Mandrag decided there was nothing for him there and set off as a refugee of the Calamity.

After the events of the Calamity, he roamed around taking odd jobs for several moons. Wanting something more stable and a better use of his Talents, he joined in with the Maelstrom. He has worked his way to Corporal and was stationed at the Camp Skull Valley, fighting and defending the South Tidegate. However, upon hearing that the Holy See of Ishgard was opening its doors and the tales of a group of warriors who wielded Greatswords and fought with unusual styles, he petitioned to his superiors, who brought it up the chain, to allow him to go train. He also put up the idea that the style might be of use to the Maelstrom as a possible ground fighting unit, something it lacked in high numbers. Thus he was allowed leave to go train and if successful and it provides to be of high use to the Maelstrom, he would be allowed to train others in this art.

So, leaving Vylbrand for the first time, he made his way up into the regions of Coerthas and Dravania and found a group of Dark Knights that agreed to train him. For the next 9 moons, he trained in the arts, venturing south into Thanalan from time to time to participate in the Grindstone as a test of his ability, even venturing into the Runestone, as he has an affinity for magic as well and has mixed it in his fighting. Eventually he learned all he can from them and set back to Vylbrand and Maelstrom Command. Upon arriving he was assigned to Sylbfohc Ostulmsyn newly formed Levey and is now trying to fit in and prove that his skills as a Dark Knight can be useful for the Maelstrom.

Miscellaneous

Awarded the Lapis Cross for his preformance in the liberation of Ala Mhigo and is knowng to the Eorzean Alliance as Mandrag then Intepid. His deeds were cutting though enemy ranks with his Greatsword, captured several imperial soldiers and rescued several comrades from the debris of Specula Imperatoris when the Imperials fired upon the tower.
