Having only recently left her sheltered life among her tribesmen of Keepers, Upa is still new to many thing in Eorzea. She is bright-eyed and incredibly curious of everything, with an insaitable thirst for any knowledge she can get her hands on. Incredibly loving, and trusting to a fault, she often puts others needs before her own, and even goes out of her way to avoid mentioning her own troubles and burdens. She takes great responsibility for each of her friends' happiness, and strives above all else to ensure their smiles remain upon their faces. APPEARANCE Having forsaken the world of warm furs and chafing leathers of her tribe, Upa has adapted quite the exquisite taste in fashion. Being a mender and often spending much of her time lingering around the 81st's manor, and the various city-states, she has more opportunity than most to dress 'nicer'. Her wardobe is filled with elegant robes, dresses, and coats of all nature and colour, a few more field appropriate outfits, a set of liesure wear, and even her very own suit of light armor. She wears her hair quite long, the length just reaching the small of her back. She styles it often with various lengths of braids, strings of silver and gold beads with clear-coloured crysals clipped to the tips. Extremely well-versed in the art of arcanum, Upa is rarely seen without her beloved grimoire, Maththal, strapped to her hip. A few bags and rucksacks often find themselves draped about her person, carrying with them potions and antidotes and elixers of every kind, as well as a set of small daggers and a pair of knuckles. Upa's late father and a wise, skilled Arcanist of their tribe. Previously their chieftain, Vohm'sae has now passed on, earning a place among the evening stars. Upa is filled with regret when it comes to her father, for she was unable to make peace with him before his death. Guilt also eats away at her insides, and Upa has come to blame herself that she did not act in time to save him. Lho Zuvhe, great-aunt. ( ♥ 🔃 🔒 ) Upa's Thoughts: "For all of her harshness in cycles past, I know well enough that she has only acted with my best interests in mind." One of the elders of Upa's tribe, and her great-aunt, Lho has been a constant source of influence in Upa's life. The elder female has watched Upa oh-so-carefully over the years, offering advice to her father in how to raise her to be the matriarch she always should have been. Despite her stern discipline when Upa was younger, and adamant views on her niece's role within their tribe, she has been kind and gentle in recent moons. Upa often finds herself wandering from Wyra's side in the evening to speak with her aunt, to lighten her burdens and share her deepest fears. Ferai Caolann, half-cousin. ( ♥ ✔ 🔒 ) Upa’s Thoughts: ”My most beloved cousin, whatever shall I do with him? He's too mischeivous for his own good sometimes, but I absolutely love him for it.” An unexpected, but not unwanted discovery from her time with the 81st, the familial bond Upa shares with Ferai is something she cherishes more than most things. Considering him more an elder brother than her distantly related cousin, the Seeker now remains as the only blood she knows. She worries about him constantly, but he has a certain magic that melts them away into bright laughter whenever the two are together. Wyra Nimh, "My moon". ( ♥ ✔ 🔒) Upa’s Thoughts: "There is so much I may say about her, but no words may convey what it is that I feel more than these: I love her." Only just recently having been wed under the laws of Upa's tribe, Wyra has easily become the single most important person in Upa's life. She is so much more than her wife -- she is her best friend, her driving force, her patient teacher, her voice of reason, and so many others. Simply put, Wyra is Upa's soulmate in every single way, and Upa cannot express her gratitude for Wyra's presence in any few words. Their road together has been rough, and littered with obstacles to stop their progress or cause them to stray, but they've overcome every single one of them. Together. ( ✔ 🔒 ) Upa’s Thoughts: "She gets into entirely too much trouble, if you ask me." More an acquaintance than anything, Upa and Angora haven't had the best opportunities to grow closer to one another. This, of course, does not stop Upa from caring deeply for the tiny Sun Seeker. Angora has caused plenty of worry their short time of knowing each other -- having discovered the woman injured and shivering beneath a blanket of snow and ice in Coerthas upon their first meeting. Angora has also shared with Upa the truth of what afflicts her, which Upa does not take lightly, and has vowed to herself to aid her acquaintance-friend in any way that she can, should she need it. Auriana Wynter . ( ✔ 🔒 ) Upa’s Thoughts: "From the beginning, she has had faith in me, and I do not know if I may ever convey properly just how much that means to me." Auriana has been more of a positive influence in Upa's life than she likely realizes. When Upa first started her mending training an studies, Auri constantly encouraged her to be better and work harder, and even let Upa heal her once. It wasn't very effective, in truth, but Auriana's kindness spared Upa the disappointment that surely would have befallen her shoulders had she said as much. The two have worked alongside each other in several of the 81st's operations, and the Hyur continues to speak highly of Upa's now well-developed skills as both a mender and an arcanist. Keaira Twinning . ( ✔ 🔒 ) Upa’s Thoughts: "There is more to her than she often lets people see, and I am honoured for the glimpses she's given me." Upa has quickly grown fond of the Hyur woman in their time spent together, and despite not knowing much of her, considers Twinning to be one of her dearest, closest friends. The two have, on more than one occasion, shared their thoughts regarding their current and past situations, with Upa doing a significant amount more of the sharing. With Twinning's promotion to Lieutenant, Upa has come to regard her with a vast amount of respect, and holds her opinions in a higher regard than most. Whether or not that is the wisest thing to do is still unsure, but Twinning's musings have left her much to chew on, regardless. Lynn'wo Vahnal, "Kitten". ( ♥ ✔ 🔒 ) Upa’s Thoughts: "Lynn'wo means more to me than I may ever hope to say. I have loved, still love, and will always love him, until the end of my days." Things between the former lovers seem to finally have taken a turn for the better, having spent more time together in recent moons. While Upa will always love Lynn'wo, she's content with simply calling him her friend -- one of her dearest, in fact. The Keeper always manages to bring the brightest smile to her face when he is near, and she often finds herself joining in his ridiculous antics. She finds it refreshing, to have gone back to the way things were before, and looks hopefully forward to their many cycles together among the ranks of the 81st. Noor Falmah . ( ✔ 🔒 ) Upa’s Thoughts: "She is wise beyond her years, and the kindest, most patient teacher." Ever since Noor agreed to teach her the ways of conjury healing and magick, Upa has come to respect and value Noor's opinions and advice. When her father fell ill, it was Noor that Upa turned to first and foremost, knowing that the younger Miqo'te's knowledge of healing and curses were far, far beyond her own. There was a brief time afterwards where Noor was hesitant around Upa, after having failed to rid her father of the dark curses that plagued him, and Upa worried that it was she who had done something wrong. They have since settled both of their worries, and Upa looks forward to learning from her. Ranirus Crithalos . ( ♥ ✔ 🔒 ) Upa’s Thoughts: "I cannot begin to comprehend the pain and anguish he has faced in his life, and for that, I pity him. He is.. The most misunderstood of souls." Ranirus and Upa's relationship hasn't always been as it is now. Once fearing his very name, Upa's patient nature and her will to see the good in everyone has certainly played a part in mending their friendship. She has seen glimpses of the pain Ranirus has suffered in his life, and her heart has completely broken for him. She holds a love for him similar that a mother would for her son, despite their near two cycle age difference, and knows with confidence that he would no longer act to harm her. Rhaj'ir Bajhiri . ( ♥ ✔ 🔒 ) Upa’s Thoughts: "His cold and callous demeanour is but a front -- he is, quite easily, the sweetest man I know." A dear childhood friend, Upa has been oblivious (or acts like it, at least) to the Keeper's interest in her. Rhaj'ir has pined for Upa's return in affections ever since they were younger, and the man has even developed a sense of strong protectiveness over her. While he can be a bit arrogant, Upa knows that he means well and that his intentions are good -- he just doesn't do the best at showing it, most times. Rhesh'ir Zhwan, "Captain". ( ✔ 🔒 ) Upa’s Thoughts: "Insert Upa's quote here.." Upa has always been fond of the 81st's beloved Captain since her joining, but it was not until recently that she has considered him anything more than a person of leadership. His understanding of her need to come an go from The Shroud to the 81st's estate has lifted a large burden from her shoulders, which she cannot be more grateful for. Recent conversations have left her curious of her Captain's true nature, beyond the commanding voice and hardened gaze familiar to their time spent in the field. Senelle Silverlight . ( ♥ ✔ 🔒 ) Upa’s Thoughts: "Insert Upa's quote here.." Finding a place in her heart for the ever form-shifting Elezen since their first meeting, Upa's love of Senelle has only grown larger since. The woman has always been a sort of mother figure to Upa, with her kind words of encouragement and the showers of kisses and affection, and Upa has looked up to her as such. In a recent moment of vulnerability, Upa has seen her in a completely new light, as more her dear friend, than her mother. And while the latter of these opinions has not yielded, and likely never will, Upa cannot help but feel that much closer to the woman, and eagerly awaits any opportunity that may grant them time together.
