When Kireina was a young child, her parents fled their home city of Doma in order to escape the conquest of the Garlean Empire. With an army rapidly approaching, there was no time to gather riches or possessions. They were forced to leave their family fortune behind taking only what they needed to make the long journey. Once wealthy nobles, the great Yutaka family had now been reduced to mere commoners. Gridania was too humble and meager for their lifestyle and they no longer had the means to live in a wealthy city such as, Ul'dah, so Limsa Lominsa seemed like the most logical place to seek refuge and try to make a new start.

Kireina's father was able to provide for them by learning the ways of a Fisherman. Her mother, never having to cook a day in her life, ''eventually'' became a pretty decent Culinarian. Considering their new professions and status in society, they changed their family surname to "Ryori". Young Kireina developed a fine appreciation for food and often assisted her Mum by gathering ingredients for her signature dishes. Given her father's line of work, she grew up mostly surrounded by filthy pirates and dirty scoundrels. Yet, as descendants of the Dawn Father, her parents always encouraged her to remain true to her divine heritage. Despite their modest lifestyle, they still managed to ingrain a sense of nobility into their daughter.

Kireina spent most of her educational years studying many disciplines of magic. Having witnessed firsthand the mass devastation and horror wrought upon her homeland by Magitek, she developed a strong desire to use the power of Aether to help heal and protect rather than destroy. Given her kind and gentle disposition, she also gained a love of nature and of all it's creatures.
 
 

==Personality==
 
Kireina is just as lovely and beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. Her mind is as bright as the glow from her piercing eyes. Your first impression of her might be that she is shy or self-absorbed (depending on the day, you'd be very lucky if you get little more than a smile or nod), however, that is not the case. Truth be told, she is just highly focused on helping other people, accomplishing her goals, and gaining all the knowledge and skills that she can. She is a spiritual person who's views may be considered "old-fashioned" by some, but her compassionate nature prevents her from looking down on those who might believe or act differently. She prefers to surround herself with positive influences who would lift her up rather than try to bring her down.

An ambitious young lass, Kireina promised herself at an early age that one day she would grow up to become an Adventurer and find a way to provide a better life for her family. While her ultimate aspiration is to become a White Mage, she loves learning and hopes to one-day master all of the trades. Needless to say, Adam developed a fascination for the art of the blade at an early age. For his 15th birthday he received his first wooden Macuahuitl. Despite being surrounded by money his whole life, Adam really could care less about wealth. He only sees it as a means to an end. In the end, he would rather be remembered for glory rather than gold: the same glory bestowed upon the gladiators he idolized as a child, the same glory that the Warriors of Light brought upon Eorzea! Many people try to buy glory with wealth. But that kind of true glory can never be bought! As far as Adam is concerned, the glory of victory in battle is worth more than all the Gil in Ul'dah!

It would seem that Adam's career path was a no-brainer: become a Goldsmith, take over the family business, bask in the success of many generations and live happily and wealthily ever after. There was only one problem with that...he had no interest in the life of a Goldsmith whatsoever! The thought of being chained to a grinding wheel, day in and day out, hammering away - always hammering - was a torture he simply could not endure. An Adventurer's life is a dangerous one...but it was always the ''only'' life for young Adam. He always said, "I may end up a vagabond on Pearl Lane, but at least I chose my own path!"

As soon as Adam became of age he marched down to The Quicksand to join the Adventurer's guild. Given his love for the arena and experience with the sword (albeit wooden), joining the Gladiator's guild seemed the next most logical choice. Who knows where this noble Adventurer will end up? There are rumors speculating of new guilds and disciplines of the blade being taught in distance lands, such as: the Rogue, the Ninja, and the Paladin. Only time will tell as the Adventure of Adam Bodiford unfolds!
