Poised and dignified like a courel matriarch, Aldeus leaves young girls blushing in his wake, and grown men rolling their eyes. Every detail from his manicured nails to the polish of his armor speaks of a man who read one too many fairy tales as a boy. Daily baths with rose petal soap further the narrative. Not particularly tall, nor well built, Aldeus nevertheless strives to the standard set by knights of legend. Rigorous training has rendered him lithe and athletic like a trained dancer, lending a graceful elegance to his stride.

===History===

No one quite knows how the four-year-old son of a Garlean aristocrat came to be in a war zone, but that was precisely where he was when Sir Baras found him, clinging to a woman's corpse, during the Empire's conquest of Ala Mhigo. Without hesitation, Sir Baras brought the boy to safety, figuring him to be an Ala Mhigan. By the time his mistake was realized, there was no going back. Aldeus became his charge, to be raised in Ul'Dah, amongst the Knights of the Twelve.

Aldeus thrived under the Knights' care. An enthusiastic learner and dedicated pupil, he rose through the squires' ranks despite his inability to manipulate aether. By the time the Empire resumed its march on Eorzea, Aldeus was a front line fighter, shoulder to shoulder with his comrades at Carteneau; until a grievous wound saw him taken from the field. That wound saved him from the slaughter wrought by Bahamut's fire, but the rest of the Knights were not so fortunate.

Distraught over the loss of his surrogate family, Aldeus poured himself into his training. He fought for the Holy See until the end of the Dragonsong War, and now travels the world, helping all those he comes across.

Rarely seen without a wide, inviting smile, Aldeus greets everyone like an old friend. Though the Knights of the Twelve are gone, he upholds their code of honor and chivalry, showing respect to even the lowliest beggar and never turning down someone in need.

"His posture is the stuff of legends, and his hair the stuff of fairy tales. He leaves young girls blushing in his wake, and grown men sighing. Not an overly tall man, and somewhat slender in build, but he carries himself with the strength and dignity of a coeurl patriarch. His muscles, toned by decades of training in the ways of the knight, are long and supple. His fair skin, soft and firm, is tinted ever so slightly by exposure to the sun. His lips are vibrant and red. His eyes, bluer than the clearest sapphire, would be the crown jewels of anyone's collection."

===Basic Info===

Aldeus is the young and kind hearted leader of Eorzea's legendary Knights of the Twelve. Though tragedy forced the mantle of High Templar upon him at an early age, he has accepted the responsibility with the courage and wisdom of a much older man. He is a defender of the weak, a healer of the sick, and a shepherd to the lost.

===History===

In the final hours of Ala Mhigo's siege, a young Aldeus was discovered at the side of his slain mother by Sir Baras Lightsong, a knight if the twelve. Determined to fulfill his knightly duty, Baras took the boy with him as he fled the aftermath of the battle. Once clear of the city, Baras discovered a locket that identified the boy as Aldeus Fenix, a member of a prominent Garlean family. How he came to be in Ala Mhigo during the siege was unknown, but unable to enter Garlemald and find the child's proper home, Baras took Aldeus with him and initiated his training as a Knight of the Twelve.

For fifteen years Aldeus trained diligently to hone his body and mind to a razor's edge, and at nineteen, he became the youngest ever initiated as a fully fledged knight. The timing of his ceremony wasn't entirely based on virtue however. With the Garleans preparing their next thrust into Eorzea, the order needed every able body it could muster to take to the field in defense of the lands yet unconquered by the empire.

At Carteneau, the Knights of the Twelve led the charge for the Eorzean Alliance, and Aldeus was gravely wounded before the battle reached full swing. He was evacuated to a Gridanian hospital, and thus escaped the massacre of his order. He spent a year recovering from his wounds without a single visitor. When he finally returned to the Hall of the Twelve in Ul'Dah, he found his greatest fear realized. He was all that remained.

For four years he cared for the Hall as best he could, hoping that others would return. When the coffers were finally near depletion, he sent out a desperate plea asking the people of Eorzea to join him in preserving the Knights. Then, late one evening, when all hope seemed lost, a lone Elezen named Isielin answered the call. She would be the first of many.

===Physical Description===

At six fulums Aldeus is a bit short for an Elezen, but not by much. Lithe and agile, he has more the look of a dancer than a fighter. He prefers his hair long, as it makes taking off a helmet more dramatic, but cuts it short when traveling the desert. He takes pride in his appearance and maintains it with regular grooming. Ideally he bathes daily and enjoys nicely scented soaps, his favorites being vanilla and rose oil.

===Basic Info===

Aldeus is the reluctant leader of the Knights of the Twelve. He is young and inexperienced, but whole heartedly dedicated to the order's survival. He just wishes someone else could take the lead.

===History===

When both his parents were killed in the Garlean invasion of Ala Mhigo, Aldeus was saved from the destruction by a wandering paladin named Baras Lightsong. Aldeus came to idolize the man, and traveled with him for many years. He became a squire to the knight and was taught the ways of the paladin. He briefly served as a Warden in the Knights of the Twelve before the order was wiped out in the Battle of Carteneau. As the lone survivor he seeks to reestablish the order and heal the wounds of a fractured Eorzea.

===Personality===

Aldeus is a kind and gentle soul. His traumatic youth has given him great insight to the suffering of others, and a tremendous amount of empathy for it. He could be described as effeminate. In the heat of battle he becomes a different person. Focused and relentless, he will dogedly engage his enemy until one of them has surrendered.

Being raised by a Hyur had the effect of teaching Aldeus to see the world through a Hyur's eyes, rather than those of an Elezen. This isn't necissarily a bad thing, but he is somewhat ignorant of the culture of his people.
