She has two older brothers, Lord Arent, the heir and a machinist like his father, and [[Nalleux_de_Mercier|Ser Nalleux]], a skilled and faithful knight who was once considered a promising candidate for a future member of the Heavens' Ward.

Camille was doted on by her parents growing up, her bright, inquisitive nature even melting the ice of her serious mother's heart. She was somewhat more spoiled than her brothers as a result.

Of course, all of it is put on, but on the rare occasion someone notices, he claims to be elevating his diction in hopes of rubbing elbows with the rich one day.

Rhys Faulkner is from a middle-class Gyr Abanian family that was heavily persecuted by the King of Ruin, and ultimately collaborated with the Empire during the fall of Ala Mhigo, seeing van Baelsar's order as better than the chaos of Theodoric. Though his family was mostly merchants and skilled tradesmen, Rhys was drafted into the Garlean military, where his rapid advancement as a cadet led to his being sent to occupied Doma to train as a Shadow during his teenage years. He excelled, eventually returning to Eorzea to spread his skills to promising fellow conscripts.
<br><br>
In a stroke of poor luck, however, Rhys was swept up and attached as an auxiliary to the VIIth Legion when the White Raven attacked Eorzea, and participated in several skirmishes before deserting the army before the Battle of Carteneau. He robbed a merchant for civilian clothes and blended in as a refugee, re-inventing himself on the fly using his skills as a Shadow.

Nalleux has an older brother, Lord Arent, the heir and a machinist like his father, and a younger sister, [[Camille_de_Mercier|Lady Camille]], a talented young scholar at St. Endalim's Scholasticate.

As his brother Arent was bound to be the heir of the house, Nalleux was pushed by his family to excel and find his own way from a young age. He was a large, strong boy, but he also showed both a natural talent for thaumaturgy and a powerful faith in Halone. Even as naught but a promising squire, Nalleux had begun to develop his own unique fighting style, blending masterful swordplay with divine lightning, in hopes of attracting the attention and respect of the Archbishop and the Heavens' Ward. He was knighted due to his actions in the Dragonsong War, rescuing a surrounded group of Ishgardian soldiers from half a dozen vouivres, cutting down two and driving off the rest with peals of thunder.

The revelations about the Archbishop and the Heavens' Ward took a severe toll on Nalleux, however, and he slipped into depression following the Dragonsong War.

Hidebound and standoffish, Nalleux nevertheless keeps a great deal of passion beneath a cool exterior. He is given to bouts of melodrama, and taking slights in disproportion to reality. Nalleux's depression following the Dragonsong War affected him greatly. Somewhat more angsty, grim, and peevish than before, his better self does yet often shine through in the company of friends and family. Perhaps the greatest loss was his goal--without the Heavens' Ward to aspire to, the gifted knight has been aimless.

Rhys is a relatively tall Midlander, lean and muscular with artfully tousled silver hair falling over his customary shaded spectacles. He likes dressing in finely made clothes, favoring long, loose coats in particular, and he talks with an accent that sounds to a trained ear like an Ul'dahn street urchin rising up in the world. Of course, all of it is put on, but on the rare occasion someone notices, he claims to be elevating his diction in hopes of rubbing elbows with the rich one day.

Rhys Faulkner is from a middle-class Gyr Abanian family that was heavily persecuted by the King of Ruin, and ultimately collaborated with the Empire during the fall of Ala Mhigo, seeing van Baelsar's order as better than the chaos of Theodoric. Though his family was mostly merchants and skilled tradesmen, Rhys was drafted into the Garlean military, where his rapid advancement as a cadet led to his being sent to occupied Doma to train as a Shadow during his teenage years. He excelled, eventually returning to Eorzea to spread his skills to promising fellow conscripts.
<br><br>
In a stroke of poor luck, however, Rhys was swept up and attached as an auxiliary to the VIIth Legion when the White Raven attacked Eorzea, and participated in several skirmishes before deserting the army before the Battle of Carteneau. He robbed a merchant for civilian clothes and blended in as a refugee, re-inventing himself on the fly using his skills as a Shadow.

Daring and slightly roguish on the surface, Rhys presents himself as an extrovert, an eager bon vivant. He's quick to joke, mock, and taunt, but his showy pride is an act that he is happy to eviscerate for self-deprecating comedic effect.

Beneath his playful demeanor, however, Rhys is well-trained in strategy and espionage, fully capable of restraining himself however necessary, and even capable of a certain amount of ruthlessness.
