Pheaux is somewhat short for an Elezen, with the build of a scholar rather than a fighter – which is to say, not much muscle to speak of and the upper body strength of a Flan. Much of his colouring is muted, and he’s never been one to stand out in a crowd, with boyish expressive features, messy hair, and not much fashion sense to speak of. There are periodically dark circles under his eyes from late nights spent researching and writing and laying face down on the floor mourning his life choices.

He is an awkward person who comes across as exuberant – obnoxiously so at times – and chatty, even if his abilities to make small talk leave something to be desired. He spent his whole life in Ishgard and is extremely keen on new experiences, wanting to learn all about the other nations and their people, sometimes to the point of seeming invasive in his questions and interest, particularly regarding other cultures and races. He is also, rather unfortunately, a coward who has very little experience with hands-on-combat or hostile encounters, and is prone to panicking when confronted with the prospect of dangerous situations as most of his magical knowledge is theoretical rather than applied.

Pheaux has a lot of insecurities that he attempts to paper over with aggressive positivity, he worries he doesn’t deserve the opportunities he’s been afforded in life, that he will never amount to anything beyond mediocrity, and is quite sure he is extremely annoying and naive. Still, he is kind to a fault and means well, wearing his heart on his sleeve and believing the best of everyone he meets – which, actually, makes him kind of a rube.

His childhood was spent mostly in his room reading while the rest of his family worked at forges, crafting armor for lowborn and highborn citizens -- he did attempt to learn the family trade with his older sisters, on several occasions, though was kindly encouraged to keep up with his studies after an unfortunate incident with a loose hammer, an ornate codpiece, and a moderate concussion (he still has the scar under his bangs).

When he was 15 years old, he was lucky enough to start prattling on about one of the many books he read to an older woman waiting for her family breastplate to be restored -- as opposed to every other time he started chatting to poor patrons who were just minding their own business waiting to collect their orders, pretending politely to listen to the young boy who never shut up about magical theory. This woman just happened to be highborn with a soft spot for the passion of youth, and worked closely with the Astrologian guild. She was delighted by his enthusiasm and amateur knowledge, and in an act of charity, she sponsored his studies with the Astrologians in the Pillars.

Pheaux took this opportunity very seriously and worked hard to prove he was worth the funds spent on his education; however, as he progressed in his studies his interests and aptitude were less aligned with the guild and his focus shifted to summoning magic and the versatility of harnessing diverse forces through magical attunement, and how that same theory may be applied to the summoning of Primals. It made finding a suitable mentor difficult, and he was passed off as something of a hot potato during the last years of his apprenticeship, which put his sponsorship in jeopardy.

Pheaux is essentially a Grad Student, working very hard to research magical theory and practice in the big wide world so he can impress his mentors with a super boring thesis and keep receiving sponsorship funds for his apprenticeship. He has too much work on his plate, no money and he is very tired. He studied in the Pillars of Ishgard working with the Astrologians, though showed more aptitude and interest for summoning magic, which made keeping the interest of his mentors extremely difficult.

He is also, rather unfortunately, a coward who has very little experience with hands-on-combat or hostile encounters, and is prone to panicking when confronted with the prospect of dangerous situations as most of his magical knowledge is theoretical rather than applied.

Pheaux has a lot of insecurities that he attempts to paper over with aggressive positivity, he worries he doesn’t deserve the opportunities he’s been afforded in life, that he will never amount to anything beyond mediocrity, and is quite sure he is extremely annoying and naive. Still, he is kind to a fault and means well, wearing his heart on his sleeve and believing the best of everyone he meets – which, actually, makes him kind of a rube.

His childhood was spent mostly in his room reading while the rest of his family worked at forges, crafting armor for lowborn and highborn citizens -- he did attempt to learn the family trade with his older sisters, on several occasions, though was kindly encouraged to keep up with his studies after an unfortunate incident with a loose hammer, an ornate codpiece, and a moderate concussion (he still has the scar under his bangs).

When he was 15 years old, he was lucky enough to start prattling on about one of the many books he read to an older woman waiting for her family breastplate to be restored -- as opposed to every other time he started chatting to poor patrons who were just minding their own business waiting to collect their orders, pretending politely to listen to the young boy who never shut up about magical theory. This woman just happened to be highborn with a soft spot for the passion of youth, and worked closely with the Astrologian guild. She was delighted by his enthusiasm and amateur knowledge, and in an act of charity, she sponsored his studies with the Astrologians in the Pillars.

Pheaux is somewhat short for an Elezen, with the build of a scholar rather than a fighter – which is to say, not much muscle to speak of and the upper body strength of a Flan. Much of his colouring is muted, and he’s never been one to stand out in a crowd, with boyish expressive features, messy hair, and not much fashion sense to speak of. There are periodically dark circles under his eyes from late nights spent researching and writing and laying face down on the floor mourning his life choices.

He is an awkward person who comes across as exuberant – obnoxiously so at times – and chatty, even if his abilities to make small talk leave something to be desired. He spent his whole life in Ishgard and is extremely keen on new experiences, wanting to learn all about the other nations and their people, sometimes to the point of seeming invasive in his questions and interest, particularly regarding other cultures and races. He is also, rather unfortunately, a coward who has very little experience with hands on combat or hostile encounters, and is prone to panicking when confronted with the prospect of dangerous situations as most of his magical knowledge is theoretical rather than applied.

Pheaux has a lot of insecurities that he attempts to paper over with aggressive positivity, he worries he doesn’t deserve the opportunities he’s been afforded in life, that he will never amount to anything beyond mediocrity, and is quite sure he is extremely annoying and naive. Still, he is kind to a fault and means well, wearing his heart on his sleeve and believing the best of everyone he meets – which, actually, makes him kind of a rube.

His childhood was spent mostly in his room reading while the rest of his family worked at forges, crafting armor for lowborn and highborn citizens -- he did attempt to learn the family trade with his older sisters, on several occasions, though was kindly encouraged to keep up with his studies after an unfortunate incident with a loose hammer, an ornate codpiece, and a moderate concussion (he still has the scar under his bangs).

When he was 15 years old, he was lucky enough to start prattling on about one of the many books he read to an older woman waiting for her family breastplate to be restored -- as opposed to every other time he started chatting to poor patrons who were just minding their own business waiting to collect their orders, pretending politely to listen to the young boy who never shut up about magical theory. This woman just happened to be highborn with a soft spot for the passion of youth, and worked closely with the Astrologian guild. She was delighted by his enthusiasm and amateur knowledge, and in an act of charity, she sponsored his studies with the Astrologians in the Pillars.

Pheaux took this opportunity very seriously and worked hard to prove he was worth the funds spent on his education; however, as he progressed in his studies his interests and aptitude were less aligned with the guild and his focus shifted to summoning magic and the versatility of harnessing diverse forces through magical attunement, and how that same theory may be applied to the summoning of Primals. It made finding a suitable mentor difficult, and he was passed off as something of a hot potato during the last years of his apprenticeship, which put his sponsorship in jeopardy.

Pheaux is essentially a Grad Student, working very hard to research magical theory and practice in the big wide world so he can impress his mentors with a super boring thesis and keep receiving sponsorship funds for his apprenticeship. He has too much work on his plate, no money and he is very tired. He studied in the Pillars of Ishgard working with the Astrologians, though showed more aptitude and interest for summoning magic, which made keeping the interest of his mentors extremely difficult.

He grew up in the Foundation, his lowborn family serving as well known armorsmiths for the High Houses. He moved to the Pillars when he was sponsored to study under the astrologians, and lived there until recently -- now he lives in Ul'dah at the Inn, which pretty much eats away all the monthly stipend he receives but it is better than sleeping in a tent in the wilderness where he would most certainly die of exposure.
