Heteph Asanti is one of the few surviving members of her tribe, Gorgonae, which was very nearly wiped out as a result of the Calamity. She mostly sticks to herself now, longing for a life lost and seeking for a way to restore it. That’s not to say we can’t have a little fun along the way, though.

Heteph is surprisingly tall for a miqo’te, toeing the line if six fulms. She has a runner’s build with long, toned legs for sprinting and jumping an a pair of equally toned arms from a lifetime’s worth of spearfishing. Her facial features are broad and flat with a hooked nose and full lips that are lined with any variation of gold rings and studs on any given day. Her bright orange hair is thick and straight, bangs cut in a harsh line just above her eyes. The rest hangs mostly loose save for a few strands that hang in front of each shoulder, clasped by golden clips that match the rest of her jewelry. The bulk of her hair reaches the small of her back and is very well kept, all things considered. 

Her skin is a dark brown that contrasts sharply with her stark hair and fur, and she likes to play up this theme of dichotomy in her wardrobe as well. She tends to favor bright, bold, warm colors; reds and oranges accented with gold embroidery and jewelry. Her tail is particularly long and slim, the fur thickening at the end and, like the rest of her hair, tapering into white.

Heteph is a grab bag of contradictions and vices, though all in all she is not necessarily a bad person. An upbringing steeped in gold and jewels and excess has spoiled her, making her transition into life as just another adventurer somewhat rocky. She is bold, brusque, and playful- all factors carrying over from the religion in which she was raised- but she can also be stubborn and petty if she does not get her way. Fortunately she is not one to hold a grudge unless under extreme circumstances, and even then she is usually more eager to forgive the repentant and move on than to linger on bad feelings or seek retribution. She is a very open person, though is vehemently secretive about her past. 

Her fixation on decadence is most certainly her greatest weakness. She revels in earthly pleasures of all sorts and has not adjusted well to a life lacking in an abundance of them. She can be frivolous with her spending habits and is very prone to give into temptation when it is great enough. She can be loud and invasive and is shamelessly ignorant of cultures outside of the one she was raised in, though it’s mostly a well-meaning lack of knowledge than it is a desire to snuff out diversity. She enjoys learning and trying new things, her worldview up until the Calamity was just particularly narrow. 

Still, she is a loyal friend and a fun person to be around. Or at least she probably is. Maybe. Depending on who you are talking to.

::* Mother (Birth): Thema Asanti, the former leader of Gorgonae. Heteph’s relationship with Thema while growing up was strained and uncomfortable, reaching its apex when her mother went insane and began to worship Dalamud. To this day Thema is one of the only people that Heteph really, truly fears.
::* Mothers: Layla and Nuru Asanti, wives of Thema. Layla and Nuru were not Heteph’s birth mothers, but they raised her from birth and were otherwise treated as mothers. Her relationship with them was closer than that of Thema, though she grew apart from Layla upon reaching puberty for a variety of reasons. Heteph remained close to Nuru for most of her life, and when she and Layla defected with Thema and left Gorgonae to its untimely fate, she took it hard.

===Appearance===

Gretel has been gifted with fair appearance and a glance might find her quite striking, though closer inspection may override that assessment. Her personality is abrasive and it usually shows on her face in the form of some sort of scowl, or at least a little frown. Neutral expressions are not terribly uncommon, but smiles are.

As far as specifics go, she's very short, even for her species. Her skin is pale and, despite not seeing much of the sun, sports a healthy coating of freckles. In most lights her eyes look green, though in certain circumstances a vague case of heterochromia might become apparent- the right eye taking on an unlikely yellow hue. She has a very serious quality to the way she carries herself, which is accentuated by the fact that her face is comprised of very hard, sharp angles- particularly her jaw and jutting chin- and her nose is just this side of hooked.

Yellow hair is apparently cared for with at least some degree of pride. It hands about her shoulders and upper back in a layering of loose curls, or is occasionally partially pulled back into a ponytail.

Her clothing tends to favor dark reds, browns, and blacks and, in general, the stylings of a thaumaturge and/or an aspiring black mage. She often looks quite grim, with no thanks to her wardrobe.

===Behavior===

While not outright hostile, she's not quite hospitable either. She is cold and reserved and curt when engaged, though she's decent enough at laying on the charm if that's what she needs to do in order to get her way.

Typically she's reclusive and keeps to herself, not one for instigating conflict unless it's with an individual who is very decidedly in her way. At that point she goes out of her way to cause a fuss, and is particularly bad about holding personal vendettas against people for objectively small and mostly benign offenses.

Her own needs and desires are her primary interests.
