Darien Alphonse Onchar VII of the Ul'dahn Onchar family. Due to his dabbling in effectively anything he can get his hands into, there are many stories of him popping into and swiftly out of areas of Ul'dahn society. He went by the name 'Hurricane Darien' in his nine-month stint in the Ul'dahn gladitorial arena. Good fortune and swift tactical response have won him two medals for Distinguished Service in the Immortal Flames. Anyone who has an interest in Triple Triad has likely seen him at least once, as his love of the game often sees him either scouring tables in the Battlehall or cleaning up the ones in his own small card shop.

===Appearance===
The first thing most notice about Darien is the eye patch; understandable, as scars tell stories, and he wears incredibly fancy patches that cover the entire socket and bear intricate designs. Dark chestnut hair is parted above it, cut just above the collar, which he often combs idly when in thought. His remaining eye is the green of a hearty forest, though changes in lighting or aetheric fluctuations can change the color in strange patterns. Darien stands six fulms tall, with broad shoulders and a defined musculature borne of combat experience. Astonishingly few scars decorate his form, owing to well-made armor and a healthy avoidance of magic-wielding opponents.

Despite no longer being in the service, Darien still counts the Sultansworn his allies, and sings their praises and those of the Immortal Flames for their quick and tireless work in the face of adversity.
Yuuto also counts among his friends several members of the Olive Branch, namely Helios Daima and Luthiah Reyrmor, though he has not seen them since his return to Ul'dah.
The Moulin Rouge free company also counts among his compatriots, though of a different and more professional variety.

The enemies of Ul'dah stand at the forefront of the miqo'te's list of 'people I'd like to stab,' though as of late some ladies and gentlemen with bedazzled heads have set him to sharpening his sword.

==History/Timeline==
Darien came to Ul'dah six years ago after a tussle in the desert left him with one eye and a lack of purpose. Rescued from near death by members of the Sultansworn on assignment, he awoke in their barracks and was captivated by their way of life. Determined to join them in their pursuit of unity of purpose through the protection of the Sultanate, Darien trained for long hours, developing a body that had never worn a scrap of armor into a juggernaut of steel and shield, and he was finally inducted into their ranks after two years of apprenticeship.

And then, near a year ago, Darien simply vanished without a trace.

<spoiler>Darien was sent on assignment to infiltrate and evaluate the dangers posed by Garlean reproductions of Allagan technology. While skilled at stealth and disguise, after a time his sabotage could not go unnoticed, and he was eventually captured by the forces of Garlemald. Their treatment was somewhere between experimentation and torture, and Darien was decommissioned from active service and sent on indefinite hiatus (A generosity on the part of the Sultana, as Darien had begged not to be discharged from his duty) because of the unknown dangers that he could pose, as none could know the extent of how the Garleans had experimented on him or what could trigger them.</spoiler>

Upon his return, Darien parted ways with the Sultansworn, though through his affiliation with the Adventurer's Guild he still contributes to the city's welfare through work for the Immortal Flames. He has also recently opened up the Onchar Card Exchange, where he runs a shop to buy, sell and trade Triple Triad cards and accessories, as well as teaching classes on basic play, rule manipulation and deckbuilding.

===General===
Darien is, for all intents and purposes, the quintessential crusading Knight - Proclaiming the values and virtues of Justice, Truth, Love and the Sun's Grace at the top of his lungs for all to hear, and embodying them through shield and sword. Known resident of Ul'dah and known by most as Sultansworn.

===Appearance===
Streaks of gold highlight the tips of his chestnut hair, the carefully-tended mass of hair arranged into the closest semblance of a of a lion's mane that he can muster. Tall for his race and built powerfully from his time covered in layers of thick plating, he is identifiable as a swordsman at a glance by those in the field. Most striking, perhaps, is the patch over his left eye, hints of burn scarring poking out from beneath the edges.

===Personality===
Outgoing and fair-tempered, Darien is often as quick to spout a witty line as he is a flirtatious one, and will often throw the two out in liberal measure. He is not near as rigid as many have come to expect from those who uphold law in the Jewel of the Desert, often causing people to question whether he is, in fact, Sultansworn at all.
