Kai is a shinobi. Specifically, one that was decimated following Hien's first rebellion against the Empire, the one swiftly crushed by Zenos. Since then, Kai has struck out on her own, following her own agenda and using her training and skills for whatever ends she deems fit.

Kai does not publicly admit to being a shinobi, nor is it common knowledge. If you want to RP with Kai with the shinobi angle, send me a tell and we'll work something out. But don't just walk up to her with metagame knowledge of her skills.

While Kai mostly works on her own, she is open to being hired for jobs as well. Especially, but not necessarily, if said job involves hunting imperials or voidsent.

I don't do the random erp thing. I don't shy away from dark, mature or sexual themes in a RP when and where they make sense. But Kai isn't going to fuck someone she just met. The way I differentiate mature rp from 'ERP' is that ERP is done for its own sake for sexual gratification, often off the cuff with little if any story or build up. Mature RP can involve sexual RP, but only when it makes sense and is in service to the characters and their story. Think a good movie that has a sex scene in it, vs a porno. The former is fine. The latter I'm not interested in.

Very unlikely to happen. But not 100% impossible, but would require substantial character development on Kai's part.

Kai is definitely not a ninja. But let's say for fun that she was.

If Kai were a shinobi, she would be trained in a variety of skills. Stealth, sleight of hand, climbing, vanishing into crowds, picking locks, disarming and creating traps etc. In addition, if she were a Ninja, she would be skilled with knives/daggers, short swords, a variety of chain based weapons, kunai and other thrown/concealed weapons.

If she WERE a ninja, her seeming pacifistic nature and loose clothing would be part of a deception to hide her fit and toned body, as well the possibility of hidden weapons on her person.

Most importantly, if she were a Ninja, it would NOT be common knowledge, and anyone wanting to RP with that aspect of her character would need to discuss it with me OOCly first. Knowing that she is a ninja without any kind of evidence gained from RP, or first hand seeing it in action, would result in being ignored for godmodding. That said, while she would be a skilled and competent ninja (if she were one), that doesn't mean she would be flawless or that finding out her secret would be impossible. Just not easy.

But of course, this would only all apply if she were secretly a ninja. And she definitely isn't one...right?

She definitely doesn't just pretend to be weak and inexperienced in combat to hide a slew of shinobi related skills. Though not rivaling the taller races like Elezen and Roegadyn, Kaida is tall for a Midlander. Her body is fit and curved, both deadly and beautiful. Her reddish-brown hair is usually tied back in a bun, usually only let down for bathing or sleeping. Her emerald eyes sharp and alert, sizing up and scrutinizing all she meets. She often wears clothing that reflects her far eastern heritage, and has a fondness for red, black and gold.

Visually, she's more or less what you see in game, but for a more exact look of how I imagine her, the following link has references of a version of Kaida I made in the Soul Calibur VI character creator, in which I was a bit better able to capture the proportions, weapon, hair color etc. So take a look if you like, but things aren't so drastically different from her in game model in FF XIV that you'll have any trouble RPing with Kaida.

Her main goal is to further her training as a swordswoman. Though she favors the jian, a straight bladed short sword, she practices with a variety of swords and other weapons, both to be more versatile herself and to better understand how to combat them.

Kaida follows a self imposed code of honor. Though some would see it as a virtue, her unwillingness to bend can at times be a detriment.

She will not attack a for unawares, even if they would or have done the same to her. Perhaps a strike from behind if say a foe charges past her and leaves themself open, but never on an unaware foe.

Nothing is drastically different, but the shade of her hair and the weapon she uses are better represented in the pictures on this page than in game, as the game itself doesn't really have many short swords, being limited generally to longswords, greatswords, katanas or rapiers.

This can be a lot of fun and I'm generally up for it so long as everyone involved is on the same page. I'm good with rolling to decide winner or freeform. My preferred method is rolling to determine the final outcome but having freeform back and forth first, so that all involved get some good moments in, where as entirely rng fights can lead to making characters look incompetent with bad luck on their rolls. There are exceptions however. For example if a common maid who doesn't know how to fight fought a trained warrior, they SHOULD generally get their butt kicked. Or if Kaida were say poisoned and not at her best, she might lose easily to a foe that she would otherwise give a run for their money.

If I am attending an event with specified combat rules, such as the Grindstone, I will of course defer to the host's rules.

Kaida's appearance is more or less what you see in game, but the screen shots here are from the character creator in Soul Calibur VI, as I was able to get closer representation of how I imagine her in that game compared to the FF XIV character creator. Nothing is drastically different, but the shade of her hair and the weapon she uses are better represented in the pictures on this page than in game, as the game itself doesn't really have many short swords, being limited generally to longswords, greatswords, katanas or rapiers.

Though Kaida appears to come from money given her garments, she's not above taking on mercenary work to further hone her skills. Her motives are generally self centered, looking to improve her own skill rather than seeking to do good or carry out justice. However, she does have her standards, and won't take on outright evil work.

===Combat RP===

This can be a lot of fun and I'm generally up for it so long as everyone involved is on the same page. I'm good with rolling to decide winner or freeform. My preferred method is rolling to determine the final outcome but having freeform back and forth first, so that all involved get some good moments in, where as entirely rng fights can lead to making characters look incompetent with bad luck on their rolls. There are exceptions however. For example if a common maid who doesn't know how to fight fought a trained warrior, they SHOULD generally get their butt kicked. Or if Kaida were say poisoned and not at her best, she might lose easily to a foe that she would otherwise give a run for their money.

If I am attending an event with specified combat rules, such as the Grindstone, I will of course defer to the host's rules.

===Dark/Mature Themes ===

So long as they're handled with a bit of maturity and weight, I'm fine with these. My approach to mature and dark themes is to treat them organically within the context of the RP. Themes of blood/gore, physical abuse, sexual assault/rape, mental or physical torture, nudity/sex etc are all fine if handled well. Eorzea is a dangerous place. There are monsters both literal and figurative in the land. Those that exploit power and prey upon the weak.

She tends to fight defensively, looking to outlast her enemy and slowly wear them down, aiming to tire out her foe until they make a mistake and create an opening for her to exploit. Though lacking enough aether for prolonged use of magic, Karen can use her aether to empower sword strikes or reinforce her defenses in limited amounts.

In addition to her blade work, Karen has also begun training in the Pugilist's Guild in hand to hand combat. Both in order to defend herself when without her arms and armor, but also for instances where she may need to incapacitate an aggressor without maiming or killing them. Karen is available to be hired as a guard or mercenary for RP events. Maybe you need someone to stand guard at a dig site in Alllagan ruins or someone has hired assassins to attack you. Or perhaps you're going out to hunt a monster or bandits plaguing a nearby town and need an extra blade? Karen is avaiable to help. While she would ICly be paid for her services in most cases, I don't require any OOC payment, just as most RP bars don't actually charge you for drinks. Karen might also be persuaded to do a job for free ICly under the right circumstances.

Karen will keep a job confidential and see it through to the end, unless said job ends up requiring her to break her moral code. She'll fight monsters, fend off assassins etc, but if you want her to shake down people for gambling debts, intimidate people into paying protection money, murder someone in cold blood, set fire to an orphanage or kick a puppy, she'll quit the job. I describe Karen's alignment as 'lawful-ish good.' She may delve into some gray areas, but not outright evil acts. She prefers to act within the law, but when it comes down doing the good thing or the lawful thing, she'll generally err on good over lawful depending on the specific circumstances.

This can be fun when everyone involved is on the same page, and I find it's generally best to make sure of that before starting this up. If one person is trying to free form and the other insisting on rolls, that can get messy. I'm fairly flexible myself, and combat RP can be fun as long as nobody's trying to godmod and everyone's willing to take a hit here and there. If I'm at an event that involves combat, such as the Grindstone, I'll abide by their rules. If it's just an off the cuff thing, I'll generally freeform unless rolls or some sort of combat system are requested, in which case I'm generally fine with that too. Another form I've come across recently is to roll once to see who the ultimate winner is, but still allow for some freeform back and forth so that fights don't end up one sided.

===Dark/Mature Themes vs ERP (M/D Okay, no E)===

So in my in game search info I usually have something along the lines of 'M/D RP Okay, no E.' I had to put this in because some people seem to assume mature/dark themes = erp. So I'll clarify what I mean here. ERP for ERP's sake is not something I enjoy. First I'll tackle the E. Erotic RP. Karen's not interested in one night stands, or quick flings without any relationship buildup. If you're looking for quick sex, it's not going to happen. You can try to seduce Karen and it may lead to some funny or interesting RP, that's fine, but don't expect anything to happen.

M and D mean mature and dark respectively. Things like flirting/innuendo, death, rape, traumatic experiences/ptsd, torture etc. (This doesn't mean Karen's on the table to be raped and tortured I just mean as story themes.) Basically, when I say mature and dark themes are okay, I mean like a M rated video game. When I say ERP, I mean porno esque 'throw these characters into a sexual situation for the purpose of ooc titillation.'

In terms of dark things happening to Karen, I reserve the right to back out of any RP that makes me uncomfortable OOC. It's one thing if she loses a fight and gets beaten up or even left on death's door for someone to come along and save, I don't mind Karen losing fights. Anything along the lines of death, permanent damage, loss of limbs/body parts, rape/sexual assault, extreme torture I reserve the right to deny. It would largely depend on what exactly you're talking about, how we got to that point, and how it's being handled. If I get the feeling an RP is just dark fap bait or edge for edge's sake I'll probably back out. If dark themes are being handled with an appropriate weight, I may be more inclined to play along. If Karen is being godmodded into a bad situation I'll probably leave, if Karen loses a fight fairly or something, or makes a poor decision like walking into a trap, then her getting her lumps is fine.

Karen herself is a 'lawful-ish good' character. That's not to say she can't be driven to moments of rage or vengeance, but she's not the sort of character who's going to DO dark things under normal circumstances. She's not going to torture a prisoner, she's not going to assault someone for no reason, she's not going to murder in cold blood. She can be pushed to the edge but she's not generally a dark character herself.

Karen is available to be hired as a guard or mercenary for RP events. Maybe you need someone to stand guard at a dig site in Alllagan ruins or someone has hired assassins to attack you. Or perhaps you're going out to hunt a monster or bandits plaguing a nearby town and need an extra blade? Karen is avaiable to help. While she would ICly be paid for her services in most cases, I don't require any OOC payment, just as most RP bars don't actually charge you for drinks. Karen might also be persuaded to do a job for free ICly under the right circumstances.

Karen will keep a job confidential and see it through to the end, unless said job ends up requiring her to break her moral code. She'll fight monsters, fend off assassins etc, but if you want her to shake down people for gambling debts, intimidate people into paying protection money, murder someone in cold blood, set fire to an orphanage or kick a puppy, she'll quit the job. I describe Karen's alignment as 'lawful-ish good.' She may delve into some gray areas, but not outright evil acts. She prefers to act within the law, but when it comes down doing the good thing or the lawful thing, she'll generally err on good over lawful depending on the specific circumstances.

This can be fun when everyone involved is on the same page, and I find it's generally best to make sure of that before starting this up. If one person is trying to free form and the other insisting on rolls, that can get messy. I'm fairly flexible myself, and combat RP can be fun as long as nobody's trying to godmod and everyone's willing to take a hit here and there. If I'm at an event that involves combat, such as the Grindstone, I'll abide by their rules. If it's just an off the cuff thing, I'll generally freeform unless rolls or some sort of combat system are requested, in which case I'm generally fine with that too. Karen is currently dating in an open relationship. And she is, potentially, open to taking in another lover but the relationship part of open relationship is still in play. Karen's not looking for one night stands or for quick sex. I also don't do designated romances. Any potential relationships will have to be built up organically via RP. This could lead to erp but I'm also fine with just RPint the romance/relationship part and cutting to black before we do anything explicit. There's a certain chemistry that our characters either will or won't develop. Karen works as a bodyguard for hire, either in heavy armor with a sword and shield, or in a lighter tunic using her fists depending on the circumstances. Karen's main employment is via her Free Company, the Silver Nexus, working security detail at the company house. However, Karen is also available to be hired for security or bodyguard purposes for RP events or to protect individual characters. If interested send me a tell. IC wise Karen would be getting paid for these services, but I don't require to actually be given in game gil for her services. Karen has a strict confidentiality policy with her clients, and will not discuss anything that goes on in private while on the job, and will see the job through to its conclusion once a deal is struck. Her services are defensive in nature. To provide security or serve as a bodyguard. While this may involve Karen fighting against someone causing trouble or trying to harm her client, it's an inherently defensive role, focusing on protecting. Karen's not looking to go rough up people that owe you money.

This can be fun when everyone involved is on the same page, and I find it's generally best to make sure of that before starting this up. If one person is trying to free form and the other insisting on rolls, that can get messy. I'm fairly flexible myself, and combat RP can be fun as long as nobody's trying to godmod and everyone's willing to take a hit here and there. If I'm at an event that involves combat, such as the Grindstone, I'll abide by their rules. If it's just an off the cuff thing, I'll generally freeform unless rolls or some sort of combat system are requested, in which case I'm generally fine with that too.

Karen is currently dating in an open relationship. This does not mean she's going to start sleeping with people she's just met, as the 'relationship' part is still important to her. But she is potentially open to other relationships. She's not going to rush into a sexual relationship, there will need to be some build up and actual character interaction and chemistry. She's in an open relationship, not sleeping around in one night stands. I don't shy away from ERP when it makes sense for my character to do it, and I'm also fine with leaving ERP out if you're comfortable with it. The erotic aspects, if we play them out, will be secondary to the relationship and romantic elements. Not the main focus. ===Bodyguard for Hire===

Karen works as a bodyguard for hire, either in heavy armor with a sword and shield, or in a lighter tunic using her fists depending on the circumstances. Karen's main employment is via her Free Company, the Silver Nexus, working security detail at the company house. However, Karen is also available to be hired for security or bodyguard purposes for RP events or to protect individual characters. If interested send me a tell. IC wise Karen would be getting paid for these services, but I don't require to actually be given in game gil for her services. Karen has a strict confidentiality policy with her clients, and will not discuss anything that goes on in private while on the job, and will see the job through to its conclusion once a deal is struck. Her services are defensive in nature. To provide security or serve as a bodyguard. While this may involve Karen fighting against someone causing trouble or trying to harm her client, it's an inherently defensive role, focusing on protecting. Karen's not looking to go rough up people that owe you money.

===Combat RP===

I tend to avoid this with strangers, but it can be fun when everyone is an adult about it OOC and nobody godmods or tries to 'kill' other characters without consent. Someone may well TRY to kill Karen, that's fine. You can try just about anything. But I'm not going to let the character be killed off, so if that's your goal OOC don't bother. Whenever I engage in combat RP it's usually with Grindstone rules. To elaborate, both parties roll, highest gets initiative. Then the two people go back and forth rolling for attack and defense. If the attack roll is higher, the defender takes a hit. We go back and forth attacking until one part takes three blows, at which point they lose, but are not killed. It should be noted that the attacker will describe the attack, but leave the response to the defender to determine how they are either hit or how they evade the attack.

===Romance/Relationship/ERP===

Karen is currently single and looking for a relationship, but wants to take things at a steady pace. While Going on dates, getting to know eachother, etc. I don't shy away from ERP when it makes sense for my character to do it, and I'm also fine with leaving ERP out if you're comfortable with it. But I don't seek out ERP for its own sake, and Karen isn't going to have sex with someone she just met. The erotic aspects, if we play them out, will be secondary to the relationship and romantic elements. Not the main focus. So if you're just looking for a quick lay don't both, but if you're interested in developing a deeper relationship through RP, we can see how things go. I don't do designated romances however. Meaning I won't OOCLY decide that Karen will fall in love with a character, our characters will need to have some actual chemistry.

===Dark/Mature Themes===

I'm fine with including these in plot lines, so long as they're given the proper weight. Have fucked up things happened to your character? That's fine, as long as it's not edge for its own sake just to be 'cool.' Do yo play an outlaw and you want to try and rob or assault Karen? That's fine but don't expect her to be merciful or forget it happened. Eorzea can be a very dangerous and even messed up place at times, and bad things happen. So long as they're handled with a bit of OOC maturity I'm fine with working them into RP.
