There is a strong air to the feminine in her fashion; Koren prefers pale colors and pastels with a tendency to favor short dresses and skirts over clothing that could be seen as more practical.

Personality
Koren doesn't walk, she strolls.

Koren doesn't run, she skips.

She savors her drinks and closes her eyes to consider each and every flavor. She smiles like someone told her a delightful, mischievous secret just a few seconds ago. She talks with a lyrical, playful voice that seems to be amused at the game that's being played whether the subject is math or magic, romance or war. On the surface, Koren's a rather easy person to get along with due to her cheerful sweetness. She's playful, polite, and despite her perhaps overly healthy self-confidence and enjoyment of teasing others, a professional young woman who treats her elders and superiors with respect.

Yet, despite that seeming closeness... Koren doesn't talk about herself except in terms of research and study. She never brings up her family unless someone does so first and often changes the subject back to interest in the other person and uses her friendly, happy persona to create a careful wall to keep anyone from getting too close. When it's pressed, Koren simply smiles, winks, and resorts to one of her most favorite phrases: "Ah... I guess, that's a secret, isn't it? <3" Koren's behavior often suggests a breezy lack of deep connection -- like someone playing a particularly interesting game or watching a delightful movie rather than someone living their life. Still, life offers plenty of twist and turns... why worry? That sort of thing really can't be helped, can it?

There is one situation where Koren is present and not miles and miles away, hidden behind a wall of absent charm: When Koren truly starts to study or work with magic there's a light in her eyes that seems to rouse her from her dream like none other. Those brief glimpses and moments are when Koren truly is awake from the safety of her dream.
Quirks
Koren recognizes authority quite quickly; even if they aren't technically her superior she's apt to straighten up and switch her language. Not from their ability to command her but because she has a deep and well trained sense of respect for those who have a reason to be worthy of it. This is probably one of the chief reasons she continues to get work as a researcher despite the other parts of her personality. Further, To say that Koren is feminine is almost an understatement. As she puts it, she tries to live her life in two dimensions to be the perfect girl instead of having the rawness that other women have. As life should be sweet - Koren has a fondness for cakes, cookies, and other similar pastries. It is worth noting it isn't necessarily the sweetness of the food, but, it's aesthetic qualities. A cute cake that was delicious is far better than an ugly one that tastes good in her mind.
Interests, Hobbies and Training
Koren deeply enjoys things one would consider finer in life and likes to maintain an air of culture about herself. High art, music, poetry -- all those things said to elevate the soul are of interest to her as if she were desperate to seek out something that might ignite a fire in her heart. Her attitude (and coin purse) would well attest to the fact that she would rather live like a queen for one day than survive well for a month. Being, perhaps surprisingly, dedicated to her research and inquiry leaves Koren with little time for truly participatory hobbies and instead she is very much the dilettante; passable at many hobbies while mastering none.

The only child of two prominent scholars of Aetheric studies and Primals, Koren grew up in the study of magic. Her parents took her across the world in their research. She embarked on her first Aetheryte travel while little more than a baby; travelled to Mon Dhona and helped take readings on crystal samples by the time she could walk, and lived along Sylphs as her parents recorded their culture when many of her peers were learning their letters. By the time she was ten she'd spent more of her life recording ceruleum readings than playing games or dolls and knew more about the Moogle tongue than the other tribe of her own people. It was this very familiarity that led to her own experimentation that resulted in the summoning of her Carbunkle based on conjecture of her parent's research. Her magical training grew considerably from that day forward. Mornings were research either in the field or through experimentation and afternoons were spent in deep investigation. Whether Koren would be a prodigy of her field if her rearing hadn't been so idiosyncratic is immaterial; her experience and history in the field leave her as a noteworthy scholar at her young age.
Family and Peers
Parents, Lhen'sae and Khtosi Panipar - Magical researchers; Lhen'sae was skilled with white and black magic whereas Khtosi was knowledgable in black magic. Lhen'sae was a charismatic, strong willed figure who had an almost boyish zeal when it came to researching the Aether. Khtosi was more reserved than her husband and spoke in a soft voice because she didn't have to raise her voice to get the attention, respect or command anyone.
History
(WIP - Rough and Unpolished)
Parents, Lhen'sae and Khtosi Panipar were both akin to magical anthropologists; studying the beast tribes in order to come to a better understanding of the Primals, summoning, and the affect that both have on the Aether. Aether acts/acted(?) weird around primals, this is what it does to ceruleum, this is what it does around summoning etc. I see them doing a lot of field work pertaining to summoning and the Aether for practical applications. Since Koren was a bitty-kitten they travelled around studying the effects and she grew up around magic, summoning, and aether studies and thus is rather well versed in the subject. Her parents slowly shifted from interested to obsessed with Primals to being completely enthralled(thralled?) by them. Battle of Carteneau came around with her parents being at due to the study of Dalamud and the study of oh-so much aetheric forces going around. Koren, herself, was left behind at [plot convenient location] because while her parents may have been obsessed thralls they were also at least vaguely reasonable parents and you don't take your pre-teen/young teen daughter into a horrible battle just 'cause you want to collect samples and see your untold-god which is effecting your minds subtly. Still by this point she'd been doing a lot of the raising of herself by herself. I figure the obsession probably started when she was 10 and likewise in turn Koren just kept on acting girlier and girlier to kind of make a fantasy world for herself as a result.

Anyhow that battle happens and as far as Koren knows they were flashed ahead 5 years with everyone else. Meanwhile Koren herself finds herself in the awful situation of being in a world wherein there are giant monsters and bahamut temper-tantrum rage-bombs kinda destroyed the place she was living. She meanders about having grabbed a bunch of their research being lost, crying and hungry before preferably a PC mentor finds her and takes her in. I don't believe she stayed with their organization as she was raised into an adult but I do know it's where her deep sense of how to respect people comes from. At any rate - she has her sole personal attached person, tons upon tons of her parents research, papers, and practical knowledge.
I don't believe she stayed with their organization as she was raised into an adult but I do know it's where her deep sense of how to respect people comes from. At any rate - she has her sole personal attached person, tons upon tons of her parents research, papers, and practical knowledge.
A bit uneven in her shaping; Koren has a rather full bust for a Miqo'te. Making matters a little more awkward is that she lacks the necessary balance from her hips making her a little self conscious about being top-heavy as a result. She stands a bit shorter than the average Miqo'te female with large, bright blue wide-set eyes and a rounder face which make her look rather young as a result. Her mount is small and her nose cute with a slight upturn. Koren's black hair is neatly cut blunt at her jaw and at her fringe, with her fluffy tail equally meticulously groomed.

There is a strong air to the feminine in her fashion; Koren prefers pale colors and pastels with a tendency to favor short dresses and skirts over clothing that could be seen as more practical.

Personality
Koren cultivates the air of the mysterious in her demeanor.

To say that Koren is feminine is almost an understatement.

Koren cultivates the air of the mysterious in her demeanor.

Playful or just capricious? Koren's behavior suggests a breezy lack of deep connection and concern for consequences while she cultivates her interest - like someone playing a particularly interesting game or watching a delightful movie rather than someone living their life. Whether or not she comes across as confident and knowledgeable in regards to her own abilities or simply smug seems to be a matter of debate from person to person. Still, Koren doesn't seem to worry too much about it all -- that sort of thing really can't be helped, can it? One might wonder if the playful detachment was a means of protecting herself after the matter involving her parents five years ago. But if that were questioned Koren would simply smile, wink, and resort to one of her most favorite phrases: "Ah... I guess, that's a secret, isn't it? <3" While perhaps not too serious, Koren is relatively professional. She's decidedly polite and deferential to her elders and authority, and the amount of respect she gives to her superiors can be startling for those who mostly know the coy young Miqo'te. Still, even then there's a careful space and detachment. Always, Koren keeps a bit of herself miles and miles away.

Koren doesn't walk, she strolls. She skips. She savors her drinks and her meals and smiles like someone told her a delightful secret just a few second ago. Her voice has a warm, lyrical quality to it when she speaks and she maintains her dreamy persona in all but one situation: There is no end to the wonder in her eyes when it comes to magic. As a result she can be a bit guarded for who she practices and researches in great deals around, but in those moments the walls come down...

During the Age of Endless Frost, as the seas turned to ice and passage over them became possible, Eorzea saw an influx of foreign fauna to her shores. This in turn brought the hunting tribes which subsisted upon them, the modern descendants of whom are today known as the Miqo'te.

Since then, the Miqo'te have diverged into two physically distinguishable groups— the diurnal Seekers of the Sun and the nocturnal Keepers of the Moon. Both groups share a superb olfactory sense and powerful leg musculature, results of a long evolution geared towards hunting and predation.

Comparatively few in number, they maintain an insular group mentality, tending to avoid contact with the other races. Many individuals lead isolated lifestyles, even when residing in the more populous cities.

Though their presence in Eorzea is lesser than that of the other races, the Miqo'te are easily distinguished by their large, projecting ears and restless, feline tails. The ancestors of this line first made their way to the realm during the Age of Endless Frost in the Fifth Umbral Era, traversing frozen seas in pursuit of the wildlife upon which they subsisted. Instinctual territoriality causes many among them to lead solitary lifestyles. Males in particular are said to shy from contact with others.

The self-proclaimed Seekers of the Sun are the diurnal clan of the Miqo'te race. Their preference for the warm light of day pervades all aspects of their culture, as is apparent in their devout reverence for Azeyma, the Warden, goddess of the sun. Though relatively few in Eorzea, a small number of them have been accepted into everyday life by the other races in the port city of Limsa Lominsa. Others are known to make their home in the region of the Sagolii Desert.

The nocturnal among the Miqo'te have dubbed themselves the Keepers of the Moon. Shying from the garish light of day, they revel in the shroud of night, with most offering their piety to Menphina, the Lover, goddess of the moon. Their tradition of hunting in the thick woodlands of the Black Shroud have for years thrown them into conflict with the forestfolk of Gridania, who condemn them as poachers. Of late, however, many Keepers of the Moon have found some small peace with the Gridanians, and taken to living within the city.

Most males have simple, one or two syllable names. The extra aitches (h) we see in names such as “Bhee,” “Kuzh,” and “Pahsh” represent a slight hissing/spitting sound that is made when the name is pronounced by the cat-like Miqo’te. Many of the other races in Eorzea cannot accurately reproduce this sound, so the aitches end up going silent when read (Bee, Kooz, Pash).
The first name is always proceeded by a letter representing their tribe. In the mass exodus which occurred during the Fifth Umbral Era, 26 Seeker of the Sun tribes crossed the seas (which had frozen solid as a result of the Calamity) to Eorzea in search of food and warmer climates. The names of these tribes contained many sounds which were difficult to represent with the existing Eorzean alphabet; but the fact that there were the same exact number of tribes as letters in the Eorzean alphabet was taken as a sign that they were destined to make the new realm their home, and so assigned each tribe with a letter/sound that was closest to its name. Over time, this resulted in the changing of the pronunciation to more closely resemble the pronunciation of the Eorzean letter than that of the original word.

Males do not take family names, as they are each considered the ‘origins’ of new families. In place of a family name, they are given a title that denotes their tribe, and their position within it. For a male Seeker of the Sun, there are only two positions available—breeding males (nunh – pronounced ‘noon’) and all others (tia – pronounced ‘tea-ah’). All males are born as tia. At any time in their lives, a tia can challenge the tribe nunh to battle. If the tia is victorious, he takes the nunh’s place as tribe breeding male (until he is challenged and defeated), and the nunh becomes a tia once again (if he survives the ordeal). This is done to ensure that the tribe’s offspring are of the finest stock. Depending on its size, a tribe may have multiple nunh (a ratio of one nunh per ten to fifty females is average).

There is only one other way a tia can become a nunh, and that is to leave his tribe, and start his own. This, of course, requires several females to accomplish, and most female Seekers of the Sun are rarely impressed by a male who cannot defeat a nunh.
Nunh status does not equate to leadership within a tribe, and in fact, very few nunh ever become leaders.

Pronunciation-wise, other than the tribe pronunciations listed above, names follow common English phonics. Though followed by an apostrophe, the tribe sound is usually flows into the name.
Female

A female first name will always begin with the letter representing her tribe, followed by an apostrophe, and then her given name. Her last name is the first name of the tribe’s breeding male who sired her.

Miqo'te – Keepers of the Moon

Female

Unlike the Seekers of the Sun, the Keepers of the Moon is a highly matriarchal society, with family names passed down from the mother, not the father. It is said that some of these surnames have survived since the First Astral Era.
The Keepers of the Moon lead more solitary lives, rarely forming communities of more than two or three families. Therefore, a tribal letter is not assigned to the names.
The matriarchal strength is further displayed by the fact that female first names are short, one/two syllable constructions that closely resemble names used by male Seekers of the Sun.

Unpronounced aitches (h) are also present in the names.

- Okhi Nbolo
- Cemi Jinjahl
- Gota Jaab
- Sizha Epocan

Male

More evidence of how important the mother is to the Keepers of the Moon can be seen when looking at the names given to males. In addition to taking the mother’s surname, males also take the mother’s forename, adding a suffix (separated by an apostrophe) to the end to designate the order in which they were born.

First son: 'a
Second son: 'to
Third son: 'li
Fourth son: 'sae
Fifth son: 'ra
Sixth son: 'ir
Seventh son: 'wo
Eighth son: 'ya
Ninth son: 'zi
Tenth son: 'tan

- Okhi’a Nbolo
- Cemi’to Jinjahl
- Gota’li Jaab
- Sizha’sae Epocan

Though there are ten suffixes listed above, rarely do even the largest Keeper of the Moon families have more than two or three sons. This is not by choice. Nature merely sees to it that more females are born to this race.

Many individuals lead isolated lifestyles, even when residing in the more populous cities.Koren Panipar

Ninth son: 'zi
Tenth son: 'tan

- Okhi’a Nbolo
- Cemi’to Jinjahl
- Gota’li Jaab
- Sizha’sae Epocan

Though there are ten suffixes listed above, rarely do even the largest Keeper of the Moon families have more than two or three sons. This is not by choice. Nature merely sees to it that more females are born to this race.
