''I might have done something which some could consider a mistake. And while I don’t think it qualifies as one, I can understand it if it’s interpreted that way. For that reason, and because it might be seen as something that would affect all of you, I’m writing this letter.

''Liliro Liro is a Lalafell whose acquaintance I made at the Quicksand. Beyond that, I can’t remember the circumstances of our first meeting, save for the fact that I found her quite charming. She did seem somewhat mysterious, but I wasn’t bothered by it, I’m not the most forthcoming of people either. She was friendly, quite well-mannered and easy to converse with despite her apparent shyness.''

''Our second meeting took place right at the entrance to the society’s property. It was the night of the Starlight party. Ennara was present, as well as Nanapo, Locke, Laucatre, and two others that I can’t recall. I’d stepped out to get some fresh air when I spotted Liliro. I immediately welcomed her in. I’m fairly sure I asked her what she was doing there, but all I know is that her answer seemed harmless to me, just as she did.''

''Meanwhile, Liliro had led me - unknowingly or not - to a canal, where she began fishing. There was a tunnel no more than 10 yalms away, that went underneath an overpass, and the street running along the canal was mostly hidden from sight from passersby. A good place to have a conversation that might turn sour, I thought. I approached Liliro as Ennara took up position by the tunnel, in plain sight, her bow at the ready. Locke remained hidden nearby.''

''The conversation was civil. At first. I tried to give her enough rope to hang herself, but she maintained the facade of innocence, pretending to be unaware of what I was trying to get at. I’m not a particularly patient person, so I just outright asked her what she had been doing at the party, and I started pressing her for an answer. The threat of being shot by Ennara surely helped, because she ended up confessing that she’d joined the party to do recon, her ultimate objective had been to rob us. According to her however, she doesn’t steal from friends or other Lalafells, so she left after she spotted Nanapo.''

''Neither Ennara or I were satisfied with the confession. It sounded like a half-truth, at best. But Liliro made it quite obvious that she’d called for help as well, that she wasn’t the one who was outnumbered. Bluff or not, there were plenty of places where others could be lying in wait, and the conversation was certainly going no further without the use of violence. I didn’t think there would’ve been anything to gain from that, so I simply told her what would happen if she tried to hurt any of us. And with that, we left the girl to her fishing.''

''About a week later, I bumped into Liliro in Ul’dah. She was acting as though nothing had happened. In fact, she asked me out of the blue if I could dance or sing, because she was planning a party and she needed performers. My response was less than civil. The one thing I knew about her that truly seemed genuine was her concern for her brother, and so I started pushing her buttons. Liliro soon snapped at me, but her reaction wasn’t at all violent. She was simply frustrated, exasperated. She was angry that I was treating her that way. She told me that what a person does for a living doesn’t define them.''

''The conversation went on and on, I won’t bother you with the details. The gist of it is, Liliro had a difficult life, stealing was all she ever learned to do well, and so that’s what she does. According to her, she generally tries not to rob people who don’t deserve it though. Which is somewhat different from her earlier “no friends or Lalafells” restriction, but there you have it. I still don’t think it justifies what she did. And some parts of her story seem improvised. But I was able to finally see something true in the midst of all the lies. At this point, I have no reason to believe that she’s anything more than a thief.''

''I’m not perfect. This is not a confession, and I’m certainly not going to tell you all the story of my life, it’s none of your concern. But I’m most definitely not perfect. And perhaps for that reason, I can empathize with the girl, despite her questionable choice of occupation. And I suppose one could say that I, in my inebriated state, found myself feeling the same way.''

==Appearance==
Kinono is just over 3 fulms tall. Her hair is a dark red. She usually dresses in medium- to light-utilitarian clothes, such as leather, cloth, and chainmail. She typically avoids strictly heavy armor due to the amount of time it takes to put on and take off. When not working she prefers to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing though has an occasional penchant for wearing finery. Kinono is far-sighted, so she will typically wear glasses when not working, or when opting to use weapons at close range.

==History==
[[File:Kinono_sketch.png|200px|thumb|left]]Kinono Kino was born in Ul'dah and grew up along the routes and within the towns and outposts within Thanalan. She is the sole daughter of two self-reliant and only modestly successful traders. Opting to never settle down, and thus never dig unnecessarily into profits or waste too much time settled, the family lived nearly always travelling, stopping for only suns or weeks at a time to unload stock and resupply before moving on.

So their daughter was brought along with them, growing up from infancy along these trade routes, outposts, and the occasional stop in Ul'dah. Her mother tried her best to school her, teaching her to read and write, as well math, geography, and a scant bit of history, all in the hopes of rasing her to embrace the same travelling merchant lifestyle that they had come to call their own. Unfortunately for the young woman's parents, this would never come to be.

The young merchant-in-training made her dislike of the profession well known to the couple, so when she disappeared one night (along with a smattering of goods and supplies) while their cart had been travelling, and just as she was to come of-age in a few moons, they did not take it as much of a surprise. Instead of breaking from their schedule to look for the girl, they decided that she would return to them in time when she realized how large and dangerous the world was while she was on her own.

The young woman ran away in the dead of night, though it was not a prescribed career she ran from. She made her way through the desert over a period of days, surviving off the small amount of supplies she had relieved her parents of and (being unable to hunt for herself) whatever floral seemed succulent enough to eat or be drinken from. Not many of these plants were actually deemed suitable for consumption. Despite the arid land, dangerous monsters, beastmen , and dream flower-fueled missteps, she was able to find passage cheaply (thanks to a not-entirely lawful crew) to Limsa Lominsa after making it to Vesper Bay.

She was discovered in a cargo crate under the inspection of the Arcanist's Guild. The captain of the ship claimed no knowledge of her presence, naming her a stowaway. Kinono Kino was offered sanctuary with the guild, on the grounds that she work enough to pay for her own inn room and food. Showing a marked knack for the keeping of inventory and numbers, she had no trouble at all earning her keep at Mealvan's Gate.It was shortly after this profession change that the Calamity occurred. This did little to change her resolve though; she had found a home and work which didn't require a lifelong investment. She had steady quarters, steady food, steady scenery, and for a time she was happy.

Five years pass by in this way, and world news she heard around the city begins to make her feel anxious. Tales of primals stirring and of the Empire's renewed offensive, as well as general malaise and restlessness regarding her work, fueled her desire to become an adventurer. It was a simple matter to obtain an arcamina book with which to channel aether given her profession, but a less simple matter to maintain a practice schedule. Despite the ease with which the usage came to her, she lacked the patience for study and practice. While she quit her work at Mealvan's and sought employ with the Adventurer's Guild instead, it wasn't long before she dropped the usage of arcanima almost completely in favor of more martial, and in her eyes, visceral weapons. It now how she lives, as an adventurer, training, exploring, earning, and selling what she can so that she may attempt to make the world a better place.

==Personality==
[[File:Welcome_Kino.png|200px|thumb|right]] Kinono Kino is overall bright and cheerful, ever drawn to those in need, other helping hands such as herself, or anyone with a story to tell. Her favorite hobby is reading, particular romance and adventure stories, so she has a huge fascination with the concept of romance, and idealizes love. She believes strongly in the notion of soul-mates, and does truly believe that everyone in the world, every single soul, has one other soul they were meant to be paired with. She is proud of her racial heritage, but she is very quick to lose her temper when she feels she is being lied to, pandered to or patronized, and can be made jealous very easily. Despite her adoration of romance and love, her knowledge and patience for other concepts tends to be fairly utilitarian, spending only enough time with the basest of concepts until she has enough to get by with it.

Despite her hatred of other people's mis-truths, she is not above playing tricks or lying herself, and has been known to feign ignorance or put up a facade for long periods of time for the sake of tickling her own humor. She is quick to trust on first-meetings, and is ever eager to provide hugs should they be needed or wanted. She has the eyes of an optimist and always tries to see the best in people, until they personally wrong her. Even if it is in some minor way, she can be slow to forgive; conversely she is quick to wave off any transgressions she was not around to witness and were not committed against her.

She has also been known to experiment casually by imbibing any random substance that interests her, showing typically little regard for personal safety.
