==Physical Description==
The first thing people tend to notice about Cain is his two-colour hair, which is almost almost tied to a braided ponytail. He is average height for a male Midlander and wiry, with a bit of muscle tone in his arms and legs and a bony chest, and some might consider him somewhat androgynous. His voice, too, is somewhere between manly and boyish, and his tendency to speak quietly only emphasizes its softness. He favours practical clothing over fancy attires and often carries a small notebook and writing utilities with him; when he is out adventuring, however, he wields a long thaumaturge's staff and has at least one knife stashed somewhere.

A native of Thanalan, Cain used to live in the Silver Bazaar until the Seventh Umbral Era. His parents were not terribly well-off and earned their living from a combination of fishing and menial labour, and a few moons before the Calamity, they disappeared with seemingly no trace. This left Cain with no family, and he ended up on the streets of Ul'dah for several years. Friends were few and the constant struggle for survival exhausting, and Cain grew wary, tough yet increasingly despondent.

Some time before his eighteenth nameday, Cain got an unexpected stroke of luck. He was offered a chance to study thaumaturgy by a Highlander merchant, who had sensed his potential and large aether pool, and he managed to move out of the streets and into his own apartment. While work still at times scarce and he had to live very frugally, Cain took everything out of the opportunity he had been given and worked as hard as he could. Eventually, he found his way into a company of adventurers and monster hunters known as 'Polaris', and he has been working as an adventurer and odd-jobs ever since.

After a trip to Gyr Abania (which ended on a slightly sour note), Cain moved to Mist and was given his own room in the Polaris company building. He regularly visits Limsa Lominsa for leves and other jobs, but while La Noscea has become his home base of sorts, he can still be seen in Thanalan every now and then. His current focus in on finishing his thaumaturgy studies, which were put on hold a couple of years ago due to lack of money.

Cain is average height for a male Midlander and sinewy, and he doesn't have any features which would catch special attention unless his androgynous looks can be considered such. His attire depends on the time of the day and his current task - loose robes when doing Thaumaturgy business and more practical clothes when going out to relax - but he tends keep his hair in a braided ponytail on all occasions and usually carries a notebook and a quill with him. Despite his otherwise meticulous appearance, he can sometimes be seen with eyebags: a telltale of a night spent reading instead of sleeping.

A native of Thanalan, Cain used to live in the Golden Bazaar until the Calamity. His parents were not terribly well-off and earned their living from a combination of trading and menial labour, and approximately five years ago they disappeared with seemingly no trace. This left Cain with no family, and the pre-teen moved onto Ul'dah and lived on the streets for a few years. Friends were few and the constant struggle for survival exhausting, and Cain found himself visiting the Arrzaneth Ossuary for both shelter during nights and a sliver of hope that things would take a turn for better - in afterlife if not before.

One day, the Thaumaturges of the Ossuary took interest in Cain and noticed that he had quite impressive aetherial capacities, which prompted them to invite the youngster to study their art and join the Order of Nald'thal. Cain accepted the offer with no second thoughts, deciding to dedicate himself to his studies in order to acquire knowledge and power and make a place for himself.

==Currently==
Cain is still continuing his studies at the Ossuary and honing his skills as a Thaumaturge. His main pursuit seems to be acquiring knowledge (and with it, power), and he sometimes visits various vendors in Ul'dah in search for books which might catch his interest.
