Hitari was born in Ul'dah... maybe, to unknown parents and was taken in by a retired Lalafellan merchant couple and their daughter. She joined the Knights of the Barracuda after her adoptive parents died but left after the Calamity struck.

===Appearance===

Hitari is somewhat short for a woman her age coming in about 5'5". She is a little on the thin side but she makes up for it with lean muscle. Despite living in Ul'dah for the majority of her life, she is a little pale. Her eyes are a dark blue and she is always wearing an eye patch over her left eye, despite it being perfectly fine.

===Behavior===

Upon meeting her, she tends to wear her heart on her sleeve and once you get to know her and she opens up; she is kind, passionate, very loyal and just a little goofy. She tends to think with her heart rather than her head and that has led to many sticky situations. Get on her good side and you'll find that her caring nature reaches no bounds but get on her bad side and well... let's just say she sports a fairly short fuse and can throw a very mean punch.

Hitari is an exceptional hand-to-hand combatant. She is agile, strong, and has good endurance and reflexes. When in a fight, she fights as if every move could be her last. Hitari tends to use her environment as her weapon or even a dirty trick or two just to get the upper hand in combat. (i.e. throwing sand, kicking up a dust cloud, etc.) Whenever she enters a real fight, she becomes laser focused and will not deviate her attention away from her opponent until either they go down, or she goes down. But when in a spar, she's the complete opposite. Always looking for an opportunity to throw in a taunt or joke; she will always play around with her partner unless reminded to be serious.

==Backstory==

===Early Childhood===

Hitari Senjougahara was born in Ul'dah and was found in alleyway in a box by retired merchant Lalafellan couple and their daughter. Hitari was a natural troublemaker. She always got into fights and was always found in places where she wasn't supposed to be due to her natural drive for exploration. It was sort of a given that the locals have grown to dislike her. Her only friends were her father, Wispot Adspot, her mother, Lynot Monot, and most importantly, her sister, Saori Duori. Due to her travel experience, Saori would constantly tell Hitari stories of her travels but the ones that intrigued her the most were the ones about the boundless seas of Limsa. This only fueled Hitari's curiosity and she vowed one day to become an adventurer to travel the seas.

===A Tragedy===

Tragedy struck when Hitari and Saori were returning from the market after running a few errands for their parents. Upon arriving at her house, they both spot a couple of shady looking individuals kicking down the door of their house. Before long, the bandits rush out of the house, and billows of smoke burst out of the front door. Hitari and Saori rush into the house but the smoke hinders their vision useless. Hitari gets onto the floor and notices notices that her parents are tied up in their room and screaming. Hitari dashes for them but before she could reach the doorway, a portion of the ceiling caves in and blocks the entrance to their room. "Run! And take Saori with you! Hitari... please!", they shouted. Without much of an option, she runs and grabs Saori before stumbling outside. The sounds of their screams still haunt her parent's today. Homeless and penniless, Hitari and Saori wandered the streets of Ul'dah, begging for gil, sleeping in alleyways, and eating crumbs fished from between the cobblestone. It was almost every night that Hitari had to hold Saori in her arms to comfort her as she wept. Often Saori would wake up from the same nightmare and weep through the night. Hitari could not look into her face. She was unable to save her parents and the guilt made it unbearable. The best she could do was to squeeze Saori tight and whisper comforting words in her ears. Food became increasingly scarce, and less gil were tossed into their tiny tin cup. One day, Saori suddenly collapsed. Hitari frantically picked up her and looked at her face. It had been a long time before she really studied her sister's face. Her cheeks were no longer the plump and red cheeks that was always stretched from a smile. Her eyes were no longer bright and filled with ambition, as if a great flame inside of her had been put out. Hitari wept as she ran around frantically with Saori in her arms, hoping to find something for her to eat and drink. Her efforts were futile. Saori looked up to Hitari. She flashed Hitari a warm smile that almost made her forget about all of this. "Hitari... L...ive." Hitari screamed and wept, "No! No no no no! Saori please!". No matter how many times she shouted, it changed nothing. Saori weakly raised her hand up to Hitari's face and gently brushed the tears from her cheeks. She let our her final breath of air. Saori had starved to death in Hitari's arms. She stood up and stumbled forward. She didn't know where she was headed, but she kept walking. Tears flowed from her eyes but she kept walking. She had unconsciously wandered back to where their home once was, now just a pile of burnt logs. The authorities had already taken her parents' corpses. She made her way through the rubble and stood where Saori and her room once was. She gently laid her sister down onto the floor and used her hands to close her eyes. "I'm... sorry...", Hitari said, between sobs. "I'm so-sorry I couldn't pr-protect any of you..." She stood up and looked around the rubble. Amazingly enough, her bed was somewhat still intact. She reached under it and felt for something that may or may not still be there. She felt the smooth surface of a small wooden chest and quickly took it out from under the burnt bed. She opened it up and found the eye patch Saori had given her for her birthday. She picked it up and ran her thumb over it's black leather surface and stitches. She held it close to her heart and stepped out of the burnt rubble.

===A Second Chance===

Hitari wandered for several more days. Several times almost coming to the brink of death. Fortunately, after bumping into a group of knights from the Knights of the Barracuda, she was reminded of her dream and was once again inspired to travel the open seas. After saving up enough gil to take an airship to Limsa, she worked hard to join the Knights of the Barracuda and was successful. Her time training with the 'Cudas and her travels caused her to become who she is today; loyal, open-minded, kind, passionate, and a bit of a potty mouth. But due to the Calamity, she suddenly woke up back in Ul'dah and having suddenly grown stale of the up-tightness of a military group and the fact that she was only assigned to patrolling the nearby waters of Limsa, she never came back to the Barracudas. she did odd jobs for a while until she stumbled upon a dispute raging within a small inn on the outskirts of Limsa Lominsa. A young, drunk, Miqo'te was waving his sword at a wealthy merchant and seeing this as an opportunity to receive a job or at least some sort of payment, she rushed in to aid the merchant and effectively knocked out the Miqo'te. But before she could turn around to introduce herself, the merchant had taken off in fear. Staring at the Miqo'te splayed out on the inn floor, she decided out of the kindness of her heart, to rent an inn room for the Miqo'te. Upon waking up, the Miqo'te introduces himself and he turns out to be none other than Shido Itsuka.

<span style="color:#566D7E">Mylene is a traveling independent fisher, who makes small coin from selling her catches to merchants across the three city-states, as well as from picking up fishing jobs from the levemete at the adventurers' guild branches. She is considered to be new to the trade itself, but has been fishing all her life during her past travels with her father.

<span style="color:#566D7E">Soon after the beginning of her journey, Mylene was recruited into an Order of adventurers called The Tomial Order. A free company with a goal to assist with the rebuilding efforts of the encampment in Mor Dhona by taking up a wide variety of freelance jobs. Over time, Mylene has come to see the members of the order as family, and will always make every effort to not only contribute to the order's goals, but also to be a loving and loyal friend to its members.

==x. Appearance==

<span style="color:#566D7E">For a Hyur Midlander female, Mylene is as plain as they come. She has lightly tanned skin, olive-green eyes, and somewhat unkempt brown hair that falls to her shoulders.

<span style="color:#566D7E">Her body is not built for combat, but despite her frail looking build, she has developed some upper-body strength from carrying equipment on the road during her lifetime, as well as from the occasional use of her bow.

<span style="color:#566D7E">She is on the shorter side of the height spectrum; growing up on the road forced her and her father to be content with whatever food was available for them on that sun, even if it wasn't very nutritious. If a little more coin were available on their hands after a job, they'd manage to acquire some food from the markets at whatever city-state they were near.

==x. Past==

<span style="color:#566D7E">Mylene grew up as a porter, and for lack of a better word, a ‘lackey’, for a traveling sellsword father named August Wharf (also known as “That Nutter” to a couple of Gridania’s merchants). She often recalls memories of chasing after him as he left her behind, laughing at how slow she was, while he excitedly embarked on a new job to obtain stolen goods or save a lost child. She carried their goods and equipment, took care of all the errands and despite her reluctance towards violence, she was occasionally forced to use her bow alongside her only friend whom she called ‘Father’.

<span style="color:#566D7E">Even with his appearance as a naive, goofy and irresponsible man, August was a very clever and perceptive individual. His wit, combined with his skill with arms, had made almost no quest impossible to him. Yet, looking back, Mylene realized that her father never took on any jobs that endangered them too much; probably because she was traveling with him. Whether or not this was one of the things kept his reputation under the radar is a fact that remains to be seen.

<span style="color:#566D7E">Mylene and her father were never able to stay at one location for a long enough time to make any acquaintances other than their temporary ‘Yorzeans in Distress!’, as August called them. The only familiar faces were the merchants whom they stocked their equipment from. It was running for job after job, traveling between Gridania, Ul'dah, Limsa Lominsa, and camping anywhere in between when need be. They were a family who were always alone, together.

<span style="color:#566D7E">But, as Mylene grew older, she began to feel disdain for the way her father always kept them on edge. Despite his cheerful attitude towards her, the way he had always pushed for her to use arms had made her resistant instead of inspired. Eventually, she decided to abandon the bow her father taught her to use... completely. Day after day, that had proven to be difficult; the conflict between the necessity of survival skills and her pacifist morals had created a constant point of argument between her and her father. In some way, Mylene's refusal to fight was her own, weak way of rebelling, embodying her condescension towards the lifestyle her father chose for them.

<span style="color:#566D7E">Nevertheless, Mylene’s simple life on the road with her father, with all its difficulties, taught her valuable life lessons of patience, kindness, and honesty.

<span style="color:#566D7E">August Wharf, like many young boys his age, dreamed of nothing more than earning the right to the title of Dragoon. Someday he would join epic battles, fighting the dragons under the blessings of the Holy See's Knighthood. He was but a simple Hyur, his father was an errand boy for one of the Hyurian officers at Dragonhead. He was a nobody, in the eyes of the Elezen noble houses, but by Halone, he will one day be celebrated, as one of Ishgard's heroes.

<span style="color:#566D7E">Yet the dream never came. He wrote, visited, begged every messenger and watchman he could find, for a name-drop, an opportunity, anything that could help him apply to the ranks, only to be ignored or rejected. He felt deserted, forsaken by Halone. The anger was driving him insane. He saw others, less capable, less worthy, join the knighthood. Yet he was not about to forsake Ishgard. He was not like the others; he was no traitor.

<span style="color:#566D7E">On a dreadful, snowy night, a man came to him, commending him for his passion and loyalty. He said that he knew of the young boy's situation. "Fear not," he told him. "There is still a way for you, to become a hero for Ishgard".

<span style="color:#566D7E">Seven years had passed since that night. He was surprised he had lasted this long. His recruiter came to congratulate him, another successful job. The Faces of Mercy were pleased. He had acquired a taste for blood since he joined, and had lost count of the lives he took. August was celebrated alright, though not in the way he expected to be, growing up.

<span style="color:#566D7E">"I hope that the Gridanian woman was to your liking? A fine reward, I must say." The older man snorted, as he tossed a bag of coin at August's feet.

<span style="color:#566D7E">"Keep it up." He said as he turned away to leave. August looked down at the bag. He kicked it angrily and it hit the leg of one of the chairs, slightly moving it.

<span style="color:#566D7E">A couple of more years had passed, he was fed up. He was going to leave the Faces of Mercy, and he wasn't going to get killed. His second 'Faces' contact now owed August his life, and was going to help him escape. August is to be reported dead, and then it would all be over.

<span style="color:#566D7E">He went looking for her, the Gridanian woman.. What was he going to do? Beg for her forgiveness? He didn't know, but all he wanted to feel was atonement for what he did to her. As if atoning for that single act could erase all that he'd done.. He knew he sure didn't deserve it.

<span style="color:#566D7E">It was nearing Mylene's 18th when it happened. Her father had sent her off to nearby Gridania to run errands and restock on supplies. This life took its toll on the girl, he knew, and it wasn't because of all of his practical jokes. She was naive and gentle and she wouldn't have known how to protect herself if he hadn't pushed her to learn how to use his bow. Nonetheless, they were both content, considering the circumstances. After all, they managed to survive the Calamity, together. Every day was a new adventure, and slowly she was coming into her own.

<span style="color:#566D7E">It was later that day when he felt a familiar, uneasy feeling.. He realized that he was being watched. Calling out, his eyes widened as his former recruiter stepped out from behind the bushes.

===The Beginning of the Journey===

<span style="color:#566D7E">After her father's death, Mylene spent some time living a quaint life in the La Noscean countryside with the gil her father had made over the last few jobs he'd taken. Soon enough, though, the money would run out and she would have to figure out a plan for how to support herself for the rest of her life. She decided to make use of her fishing skill and made her way to Limsa Lominsa to register herself at the adventurers' guild there in order to be able to receive fish requests from the levemetes at any of the guild's branches. With that in order, she took an airship to Gridania to settle a small debt her father had left with a merchant, before continuing to Ul'dah, where all of those whom look to make a living go.

===Making Friends, and Self-Discovery===

<span style="color:#566D7E">Mylene was terrified upon her arrival in Ul'dah. Highly sensitive and quiet, she would show social anxiety traits when she'd meet someone new due to the fact that her father was always the ice-breaker (in an often embarrassing way) when they ran into people. She was used to being accompanied and protected by him and was not accustomed to socializing with strangers any further than making brief exchanges with merchants. With a promise of a meeting from one, she waited at the local tavern, the Quicksand, where a Keeper of the Moon would ask to share her table. Little known to her, that the Miqo'te would eventually come to be the first of many friends she'd make along the way, and one of the very few individuals she'd give her life to protect.

<span style="color:#566D7E">A few suns after her arrival in Ul'dah, she was pulled in to a conversation by a Miqo'te with a Lominsan accent, and a cheerful female Lalafell, whom introduced themselves as members of The Tomial Order. Inspired by their passion, and with a strong desire to see new places around Eorzea, she decides to join them despite her then-reclusive nature. During her earlier days at the order, she would often feel like she was lacking, and unable to contribute, due to being the only non-fighter among the adventurers. Eventually, she would form strong bonds with the Order's members, and would experience incidents, both good and bad, that she would have never been able to experience, otherwise. She now resides with them at the Order's newly obtained quarters at the Mist residential district.

===A New Sense of Purpose===

<span style="color:#566D7E">Constantly watching her friends get injured or attacked, and knowing that she could do nothing to help them due to her inability to engage in combat, had a profound effect upon Mylene. She realized that, if she had not been so stubborn about her extreme pacifism, she might have been able to help them avoid harm. And that, if she took up the bow once more, she would be able to help them in the future. Was that not what her father might have been trying to teach her all along, that the world is harsh and that she would need to be able to defend herself, and her loved ones, against it?

<span style="color:#566D7E">Mylene reached out to Raikemi Maira; a member of The Tomial Order whose skill and mind she had always admired from a distance. Raikemi would soon become an important figure in Mylene's life; providing her with Archery lessons, advice, and moral support; not only as a mentor, but as a friend.

<span style="color:#566D7E">Though she is set on her new goal, Mylene would not yet abandon her fishing rod. She now continues to balance her fishing trade and her archery lessons, as she experiences more adventures with her friends. Yet, she is no heroine by any stretch of the imagination; as she still finds herself nervous about dealing with combat, and will only reach for her bow under extreme circumstances.

<span style="color:#566D7E">As Ul'dah is the crossroads in the desert, Mylene found herself meeting with plenty of people, many of them far outside of her previous limits of comfort, which had been safely defined by her father. With this flurry of acquaintances, and the myriad situations they brought with them, she has steeled herself to develop a backbone, and the ability to actually hold a conversation with them, even going as far as being able to display her passion or displeasure when she needs to express them, even if that display leans towards timidness, still. This is a major improvement from the extremely anxious and silent demeanor she displayed when she started her journey alone.

<span style="color:#566D7E">She hates the feeling of being labeled as useless. This stems from the judgement she used to receive when expressing her distaste for combat. She gets a lot of drive from the feeling of being trusted and the feeling of taking care of someone else whom she is close to. Thus, companionship and loyalty are very important to her. She strives to help out those she cares for, and is usually devastated when her offer to help is rejected, whether directly or indirectly.

<span style="color:#566D7E">Mylene can be passive at times. Her anxious nature often makes her turn away from pursuing the things she wants if she feels that pursuing them will create some sort of conflict of interest with those around her. She also suffers from a lot of self-doubt, as well as the tendency to internalize things too much, causing herself and others some misunderstandings.

<span style="color:#566D7E">Sometimes, without realizing, she will rub her left wrist when she is nervous.
