Her name was Lahtan, and she was born only a month before Ohki'to. She was a brave girl who was always seeking adventure and intrigue. She would often sneak away from her parents to explore her surroundings and was often getting in trouble. The adults of the community had a distrust for the Gridanians and the Wood Wailers, and were afraid she might get herself and Ohki'to (who often followed her) hurt.

One day, when the two were only a mere eight years old, they ventured out into the eastern shroud. Lahtan had heard that deep within the Bramble Patch was a beautiful Gridanian church. The two young ones took a wrong turn, however, and soon found themselves just outside the Hawthorne Hut. They hid in some nearby foliage and watched the Wood Wailers as they worked on some task that they didn't fully understand. Only a few moments passed before a Giant Gnat came buzzing in behind them, startling the pair. Lahtan jumped out of the bush on instinct, and the Wood Wailers stopped and stared at her for a moment. As they stared at each other, silence fell for what felt like an eternity. One of the Wood Wailers set down a crate, and began to walk towards them. Lahtan screamed, and Ohki'to leaped into action without even a thought.

"Get away from her!" he cried out. His fear began to tighten in his knot, but he felt something he had never felt before. Courage mixed with the fear and took solid form before him as an Emerald Carbuncle appeared. The Wood Wailers panicked and drew their spears, but that was the last thing Ohki'to and Lahtan saw before passing out. As Ohki'to began to regain conciousness, he heard a voice. "Damn Jeffers, you really did a number on those kids. Good thing you showed up before that Carbuncle picked a fight it couldn't win."

His eyes opened slowly as the Hyur before him responded. "They were scared, Private Artouir. I had to do something to stop them before they did something stupid." Ohki'to tried to push himself up, but he felt some pain in his neck and groaned. The Hyur turned to look at him, and then chuckled. "You're a tough kid. Whats your name?" Ohki'to stared at him, unable to get the words past the lump in his throat. The Hyur sighed. "Alright, well my name is Jeffers. I'm an adventurer, from the adventurer's guild. I'm doing some work out here for the Wood Wailers. I gotta say, that was some impressive summoning kid. Who taught you to do that?"

Ohki'to began to relax. Jeffers had a look on his face that could only be described as compassionate. His voice was deep, but soothing. Ohki'to looked at his feet, finding it hard to meet the man's gaze. "No one. I just did it." he mumbled. Jeffers stared at him without dumbfoundedly without saying a word for a moment, then let out a hearty laugh. "Well damn kid, you're a natural. You ever think about joining the Adventurer's Guild and learning how to weild that magic?" Ohki'to was quiet for a moment, then replied "My mom said the people of the city aren't to be trusted. She said they would sell us off."

Jeffers sat back and crossed his arms, his face deep in thought. "Well I tell you what then, little one. How about you come back here everyday from now on and I'll train you." Ohki'to considered it for a moment, but then his heart rose back into his throat. "Where's Lahtan?" he asked, the concern for his own safety melting away. Jeffers nodded his head towards the tent around the corner. "She's resting. She should wake up soon. Then you're free to go if you wish." A wood wailer approached and gave Ohki'to a cheesey smile. "Ya know Jeffers, he looks a like a little version of you!"

Starting the next day and going for two months, Ohki'to returned to the Hawthorne Hut to practice his magic with Jeffers. The man was patient and careful, always keeping Ohki'to's safety the top priority. As he practiced, Lahtan would have the Wood Wailers tell her stories about the different peoples from around the world. Ohki'to and Lahtan fell in love with the tales of the knights of Ishgard in particular. They swore that one day they would travel there and be knighted. As far as the parents in the community were concerned, Ohki'to and Lahtan were just sneaking off like usual. They never knew what the two were actually up too.

Ohki'to rushed to her side, kneeling next to her as the tears began to flow. By the time the sun rose again, others had come out to help him and Lahtan's body had been buried. The culprit was no where to be found. Someone, Ohki'to was far to buried in grief and anger to realize who, set up a caravan to take him the rest of the way to Limsa. However, before he left, he was given a name. Briarden. Detective Briarden would find the criminal if Ohki'to could find him.

After arriving in Limsa, Ohki'to established himself with the Adventurer's Guild, but was afraid to give his real name. He remembered the kind man who helped him before, and gave the guild the name 'Jeffers'. He trained hard in the Arcanist's Guild and searched for Briarden for years without so much as a trace. However, during his time in the guild he began to build his own reputation as an intuitive young man and a sort of detective in his own right. On his seventeenth birthday, he set up an office in a small rented room and began to work as a detective. He continues to search for any clues as to the culprit who killed Lahtan.

Ohki'to is a generally shy person, but living with a strict mother forced him to adapt a false facade to hide his insecurities. Very few people would know how he really feels or thinks. He puts on a brave and happy face, but is commonly unhappy with his life. He is easily flustered, and gets agitated when he can't do something properly or feels like people think he can't.

====History:====
Ohki'to was born in a small community of three families. He was a shy boy growing up, and often stuck to the only other child that was close to his age. Her name was Lahtan, and she was born only a month before Ohki'to. She was a brave girl who was always seeking adventure and intrigue. She would often sneak away from her parents to explore her surroundings and was often getting in trouble. The adults of the community had a distrust for the Gridanians and the Wood Wailers, and were afraid she might get herself and Ohki'to (who often followed her) hurt.

One day, when the two were only a mere eight years old, they ventured out into the eastern shroud. Lahtan had heard that deep within the Bramble Patch was a beautiful Gridanian church. The two young ones took a wrong turn, however, and soon found themselves just outside the Hawthorne Hut. They hid in some nearby foliage and watched the Wood Wailers as they worked on some task that they didn't fully understand. Only a few moments passed before a Giant Gnat came buzzing in behind them, startling the pair. Lahtan jumped out of the bush on instinct, and the Wood Wailers stopped and stared at her for a moment. As they stared at each other, silence fell for what felt like an eternity. One of the Wood Wailers set down a crate, and began to walk towards them. Lahtan screamed, and Ohki'to leaped into action without even a thought.

"Get away from her!" he cried out. His fear began to tighten in his knot, but he felt something he had never felt before. Courage mixed with the fear and took solid form before him as an Emerald Carbuncle appeared. The Wood Wailers panicked and drew their spears, but that was the last thing Ohki'to and Lahtan saw before passing out. As Ohki'to began to regain conciousness, he heard a voice. "Damn Jeffers, you really did a number on those kids. Good thing you showed up before that Carbuncle picked a fight it couldn't win."

His eyes opened slowly as the Hyur before him responded. "They were scared, Private Artouir. I had to do something to stop them before they did something stupid." Ohki'to tried to push himself up, but he felt some pain in his neck and groaned. The Hyur turned to look at him, and then chuckled. "You're a tough kid. Whats your name?" Ohki'to stared at him, unable to get the words past the lump in his throat. The Hyur sighed. "Alright, well my name is Jeffers. I'm an adventurer, from the adventurer's guild. I'm doing some work out here for the Wood Wailers. I gotta say, that was some impressive summoning kid. Who taught you to do that?"

Ohki'to began to relax. Jeffers had a look on his face that could only be described as compassionate. His voice was deep, but soothing. Ohki'to looked at his feet, finding it hard to meet the man's gaze. "No one. I just did it." he mumbled. Jeffers stared at him without dumbfoundedly without saying a word for a moment, then let out a hearty laugh. "Well damn kid, you're a natural. You ever think about joining the Adventurer's Guild and learning how to weild that magic?" Ohki'to was quiet for a moment, then replied "My mom said the people of the city aren't to be trusted. She said they would sell us off."

Jeffers sat back and crossed his arms, his face deep in thought. "Well I tell you what then, little one. How about you come back here everyday from now on and I'll train you." Ohki'to considered it for a moment, but then his heart rose back into his throat. "Where's Lahtan?" he asked, the concern for his own safety melting away. Jeffers nodded his head towards the tent around the corner. "She's resting. She should wake up soon. Then you're free to go if you wish." A wood wailer approached and gave Ohki'to a cheesey smile. "Ya know Jeffers, he looks a like a little version of you!"

Starting the next day and going for two months, Ohki'to returned to the Hawthorne Hut to practice his magic with Jeffers. The man was patient and careful, always keeping Ohki'to's safety the top priority. As he practiced, Lahtan would have the Wood Wailers tell her stories about the different peoples from around the world. Ohki'to and Lahtan fell in love with the tales of the knights of Ishgard in particular. They swore that one day they would travel there and be knighted. As far as the parents in the community were concerned, Ohki'to and Lahtan were just sneaking off like usual. They never knew what the two were actually up too.

One day, Ohki'to returned to the hut to find that Jeffers had gone back home to Limsa Lominsa, and knew that his true calling in life had arrived. He and Lahtan grabbed what little possesions they had, and set out for Limsa without any real idea how far and long the road would be. After traveling for a few days, they stopped at a nearby town for help. A young man told them about a caravan headed for Limsa that night, and offered them passage. When asked what he wanted in return, he told them that he would need help later. The two were naive, and agreed. They decided to split up to gather supplies and meet back at the caravan.

Ohki'to found food, warm clothes, and a tent before the time came. He gathered his bounty into a knapsack he managed to purchase from a street vendor, and headed for the meeting site. When he arrived, he saw something that made his heart stop. There was no caravan in sight, but Lahtan's mangled corpse lay off the side of the road. Ohki'to rushed to her side, kneeling next to her as the tears began to flow. By the time the sun rose again, others had come out to help him and Lahtan's body had been buried. The culprit was no where to be found. Someone, Ohki'to was far to buried in grief and anger to realize who, set up a caravan to take him the rest of the way to Limsa. However, before he left, he was given a name. Briarden. Detective Briarden would find the criminal if Ohki'to could find him.

After arriving in Limsa, Ohki'to established himself with the Adventurer's Guild, but was afraid to give his real name. He remembered the kind man who helped him before, and gave the guild the name 'Jeffers'. He trained hard in the Arcanist's Guild and searched for Briarden for years without so much as a trace. However, during his time in the guild he began to build his own reputation as an intuitive young man and a sort of detective in his own right. On his seventeenth birthday, he set up an office in a small rented room and began to work as a detective. He continues to search for any clues as to the culprit who killed Lahtan.
