Rhundas: ShB update: personality, abilities, relationships all brought to present circumstances

R'das a reclusive metalworker-turned-magitek engineer. She is known as one of Eorzea's earlier adopters of magitek, predating the Machinist's Guild and the wider uptake of firearms and machina. Her work primarily focuses on Allagan machina and Garlean magitek, though she has begun to create her own varieties of both.

Presently she resides as Chief Engineer in [http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=18070 Machina & Magitek], an Immortal Flames engineering division, working to prevent loss of life on the battlefield by developing more effective countermeasures to mechanical threats.

<p>Tall for a Miqo'te, R'das often stands out amongst her kin. A metalworker's lifestyle keeps her relatively fit, though her weight has been fluctuating. A majority of her weight is focused on her chest; which is of massive proportion in comparison to the rest of her frame. Even as a Miqo'te, her unerring sense of balance has suffered, leading her to often stumble during physical activities.</p>

<p>Set into the Miqo'te's left ear is a curious device of Allagan origin. It remains mostly hidden under her fur, though on occasion it radiates a soft blue glow. She actively tries to avoid drawing attention to the device, often trying to change the subject of conversation or simply ignoring questions pertaining to it.</p>

<p>Her skin is heavily tanned from years under the Thanalan sun. Covering it are a large number of faded tribal tattoos. Many seem to have faded almost entirely, R'das clearly not caring for their upkeep</p>

<p>Perhaps most curious of R'das' body is her reactions to alchemical compounds. In the wake of a disastrous alchemical accident early in her childhood, potions and the like often have odd effects when imbibed by the Seeker. Of the reactions, curative potions have the most worrying, appearing to harm more than heal when consumed.</p></div>

<p>R'das is a laid back individual. Unless she has immediate reason to do or care about something, she is often content to laze around and let things happen as they do. She is not a people-person, and often will go out of her way to avoid crowds or even smaller gatherings of people she does not know, usually requiring considerable effort to drag her from her comfort zone to meet new people.</p>

<p>Several bad experiences have left their mark on her personality. She is slow to trust, and struggles to open up to even her closest friends. Her abrasive attitude covers a paranoia that her friends will abandon her, and much of her personality is constructed in a way to internalise the abandonment and cause it on her own terms.</p>

<p>As can often be seen with her lack of caution when it comes to anything dangerous to herself, be it experimentation with magitek devices or adventuring forays, R'das' sense of self-preservation is either low or non-existent. The only exceptions are when her actions would put others at risk, as opposed to just herself. Frequently she has placed herself in danger, sometimes needlessly, just because it was a faster way to get something done.</p>

<p>R'das has maintained an interest in tradeskills for most of her life. She was a smithy's apprentice from a young age and since then her skills have only climbed. After her time as a simple smithy, she was taken in by an airship crew and learned, quite literally on the fly, what made the bird tick. When the crew disbanded, she began work as an airship engineer, and from there eventually branched into magitek.</p>
<p>Her manner of magitek is a very haphazard one. Her entire creative process when designing devices, prototyping them, and testing them is a storm of chaos, unnecessary corner cutting, and high risk. That said, the devices that do come out the other end as completed projects are something to behold. Her most recent work is based in portable shielding technology - recreating miniaturised versions of large-scale energy shielding akin to Seiryu's Wall.</p>
<p>She has a distinct aversion to goblin magitek and engineering, owing to its dangerous construction and rampant use of volitile ceruleum, even though her own crafts often possess the same qualities. If something blows up, she would at least like to know why it did.</p>
<p>While far from a guild trained pugilist, R'das' tribe practiced a similar style of unarmed combat, leaving her capable of defending herself proficiently even without a weapon in her hands. Her style of fisticuffs is dirty and brutal, aiming to disable an attacker through overpowering aggression.</p>
<p>On her person she carries at all times either a small steel firesand revolver, or one constructed from darksteel with various magitek additions, in a holster on her thigh.</p>
<p>While working in areas where combat is a potential threat, she wears a patchwork of lightweight plating laced with various magitek systems. For situations where she needs more punch than either her fists or a revolver can provide, she carries a gunblade either on her person or within reach via long-distance teleportation.</p>
<p>In terms of aetherial ability, R'das possesses little control of her own aether. She wears a miniaturised version of an aetherotransformer in the form of a bracelet, allowing technology to manipulate her aether for her. Being derived of Allagan make rather than Ishgardian, it boasts a higher throughput than a standard machinist's aetherotransformer, but also lacks any safety limitations.</p></div>

<p>R'das has dabbled in all manner of tradeskills. She is a proficient craftswoman, though her true skills lie in metalwork and machinistry. Her occupation as chief engineer of her own Free Company means much of her arsenal and skills in combat rely heavily on her inventions.</p>
<p>Her manner of magitek is a very haphazard one, often hastily constructed from scraps of other devices, be they Garlean, Eorzean, or Allagan. One thing is always for certain, however, in that they get the job done... most of the time, and the risk of personal injury whilst using her devices has declined steadily as she has become more and more accustomed to making devices of her own design rather than modifying existing ones.</p>
<p>She has a distinct aversion to goblin magitek and engineering, owing to its dangerous construction and rampant use of volitile ceruleum, even though her own crafts often possess the same qualities. If something blows up, she would at least like to know why it did.</p>
<p>On her person she carries more guns than would be considered reasonable. A fan of revolvers, she keeps a small steel one holstered in her jacket, a larger darksteel magitek revolver in a holster on her thigh, and another comically oversized one often slung over her back. All but the steel firearm are capable of firing custom ammunition that she creates.</p>
<p>In terms of aetherial ability, R'das possesses little control of her own aether. She has a very basic knowledge of arcanima, enough to cast but a single spell, and even then its potency is laughable. Extended bouts of teleportation leave her exhausted and nauseous.</p>
<p>Perhaps the most noteworthy of R'das' aetherial quirks is her ability to tap into a lesser form of chakra. She possesses a small amount of Monk training, enough that her unarmed strikes pack an aetherial sting, but it is nothing that she can consciously manipulate to cure or manifest as fully trained Monks would demonstrate.</p></div>

R'das a reclusive metalworker-turned-magitek engineer. She is known as one of Eorzea's earlier adopters of magitek, predating the Machinist's Guild and the wider uptake of firearms and machina. <p>Tall for a Miqo'te, R'das often stands out amongst her kin. A metalworker's lifestyle keeps her relatively fit, though her weight has been fluctuating. A majority of her weight is focused on her chest; which is of massive proportion in comparison to the rest of her frame. Even as a Miqo'te, her unerring sense of balance has suffered, leading her to often stumble during physical activities.</p>

<p>Set into the Miqo'te's left ear is a curious device of Allagan origin. It remains mostly hidden under her fur, though on occasion it radiates a soft blue glow. She actively tries to avoid drawing attention to the device, often trying to change the subject of conversation or simply ignoring questions pertaining to it.</p>

<p>Her skin is heavily tanned from years under the Thanalan sun. Covering it are a large number of faded tribal tattoos. Many seem to have faded almost entirely, R'das clearly not caring for their upkeep</p>

<p>Perhaps most curious of R'das' body is her reactions to alchemical compounds. In the wake of a disastrous alchemical accident early in her childhood, potions and the like often have odd effects when imbibed by the Seeker. Of the reactions, curative potions have the most worrying, appearing to harm more than heal when consumed.</p></div>

<p>Tall for a Miqo'te, R'das often stands out amongst her kin. A metalworker's lifestyle keeps her relatively fit, though her weight has been fluctuating. A majority of her weight is focused on her chest; which is of massive proportion in comparison to the rest of her frame. Even as a Miqo'te, her unerring sense of balance has suffered, leading her to often stumble during physical activities.</p>

<p>Set into the Miqo'te's left ear is a curious device of Allagan origin. It remains mostly hidden under her fur, though on occasion it radiates a soft blue glow. She actively tries to avoid drawing attention to the device, often trying to change the subject of conversation or simply ignoring questions pertaining to it.</p>

<p>Her skin is heavily tanned from years under the Thanalan sun. Covering it are a large number of faded tribal tattoos. Many seem to have faded almost entirely, R'das clearly not caring for their upkeep</p>

<p>Perhaps most curious of R'das' body is her reactions to alchemical compounds. In the wake of a disastrous alchemical accident early in her childhood, potions and the like often have odd effects when imbibed by the Seeker. Of the reactions, curative potions have the most worrying, appearing to harm more than heal when consumed.</p></div>

<p>R'das is a laid back individual. Unless she has immediate reason to do or care about something, she is often content to laze around and let things happen as they do. She is not a people-person, and often will go out of her way to avoid crowds or even smaller gatherings of people she does not know, usually requiring considerable effort to drag her from her comfort zone to meet new people.</p>

<p>She is loyal and fiercely protective of her friends, even though any slights or dangers may be only her own perception of things, resulting in many heated arguments even amongst her peers. Despite such, she often regrets raising her voice, either immediately though witnessing the damage she causes, or further down the line when guilt starts to gnaw at her.</p>

<p>When upset, R'das tends not to half-ass her emotions. She is quick to resort to drink to attempt to numb her feelings when she is unsure how to cope, and often lashes out at attempts to help or understand. Such often leads her further into sadness when her guilt rolls back around.</p>

<p>One in hundreds, Aelyn is afflicted with the Echo. Owing to this, she possess abilities beyond that of a normal Spoken, including the ability to understand the intent behind words, regardless of language; brief, incoherent visions of both past and future; protection from primal influences; and the ability to linger far longer than normal on the brink of death.</p>
<p>In what amounts to a unique permutation of her affliction, Aelyn has a vast reserve of aether. To those with the ability to sense aether, she would give a signature several times stronger than that of the ordinary man. This aether has been channelled over years of research into a countermeasure against exhaustion and nigh-fatal injury - should Aelyn fall unconscious in battle, her aether surges, resuscitating her. This is taxing on her body, and leaves her in a state of weariness and nausea for several suns following, during which this power ceases function.</p>
<p>Alongside her supernatural abilities, Aelyn is an accomplished machinist. While not an inventor or tinkerer in her own right, she employs devices constructed by the Skysteel Manufactory and [http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=18070 Machina & Magitek] as if they were extensions of her own form. In doing so, her deeds are etched into the fresh soul crystal she carries with her, which she hopes to one day pass onto a successor, as did warriors of old.</p>

She was unable to complete her guild training, but has since struck out to research the aetherial arts on her own, albeit slowly. Arcanima has become more of a hobby to her now, though she employs various geometries in combat, such as Physick, Energy Drain, and the more powerful Adloquium.</p>
<p>Combined together - the Echo, her prowess in Arcanima, and her affinity for machinistry - Aelyn is a formidable foe upon the battlefield, and as such has faced some of the worst nightmares that the common man could dream of. The Echo's unique ability to shield the wearer and nearby allies from the effects of primal influence make those who bare it - Aelyn included - a valued commodity when it comes to dispatching manifestations of Primals themselves. Aelyn has faced a handful of Primals in her time, and emerged victorious through each, though the struggles have left their marks on her.</p>

<p>Tall for a Miqo'te, R'das often stands out amongst her kin. A metalworker's lifestyle keeps her relatively fit, though her weight has been fluctuating. A majority of her weight is focused on her chest; which is of massive proportion in comparison to the rest of her frame. Even as a Miqo'te, her unerring sense of balance has suffered, leading her to often stumble during physical activities.</p>

<p>Set into the Miqo'te's left ear is a curious device of Allagan origin. It remains mostly hidden under her fur, though on occasion it radiates a soft blue glow. She actively tries to avoid drawing attention to the device, often trying to change the subject of conversation or simply ignoring questions pertaining to it.</p>

<p>Her skin is heavily tanned from years under the Thanalan sun. Covering it are a large number of faded tribal tattoos. Many seem to have faded almost entirely, R'das clearly not caring for their upkeep</p>

<p>Perhaps most curious of R'das' body is her reactions to alchemical compounds. In the wake of a disastrous alchemical accident early in her childhood, potions and the like often have odd effects when imbibed by the Seeker. Of the reactions, curative potions have the most worrying, appearing to harm more than heal when consumed.</p></div>

<p>R'das is a laid back individual. Unless she has immediate reason to do or care about something, she is often content to laze around and let things happen as they do. She is not a people-person, and often will go out of her way to avoid crowds or even smaller gatherings of people she does not know, usually requiring considerable effort to drag her from her comfort zone to meet new people.</p>

<p>She is loyal and fiercely protective of her friends, even though any slights or dangers may be only her own perception of things, resulting in many heated arguments even amongst her peers. Despite such, she often regrets raising her voice, either immediately though witnessing the damage she causes, or further down the line when guilt starts to gnaw at her.</p>

<p>When upset, R'das tends not to half-ass her emotions. She is quick to resort to drink to attempt to numb her feelings when she is unsure how to cope, and often lashes out at attempts to help or understand. Such often leads her further into sadness when her guilt rolls back around.</p>

<p>R'das has dabbled in all manner of tradeskills. She is a proficient craftswoman, though her true skills lie in metalwork and machinistry. Her occupation as chief engineer of her own Free Company means much of her arsenal and skills in combat rely heavily on her inventions.</p>
<p>Her manner of magitek is a very haphazard one, often hastily constructed from scraps of other devices, be they Garlean, Eorzean, or Allagan. One thing is always for certain, however, in that they get the job done... most of the time, and the risk of personal injury whilst using her devices has declined steadily as she has become more and more accustomed to making devices of her own design rather than modifying existing ones.</p>
<p>She has a distinct aversion to goblin magitek and engineering, owing to its dangerous construction and rampant use of volitile ceruleum, even though her own crafts often possess the same qualities. If something blows up, she would at least like to know why is did.</p>
<p>On her person she carries more guns than would be considered reasonable. A fan of revolvers, she keeps a small steel one holstered in her jacket, a larger darksteel magitek revolver in a holster on her thigh, and another comically oversized one often slung over her back. All but the steel firearm are capable of firing custom ammunition that she creates.</p>
<p>In terms of aetherial ability, R'das possesses little control of her own aether. She has a very basic knowledge of arcanima, enough to cast but a single spell, and even then its potency is laughable. Extended bouts of teleportation leave her exhausted and nauseous.</p>
<p>Perhaps the most noteworthy of R'das' aetherial quirks is her ability to tap into a lesser form of chakra. She possesses a small amount of Monk training, enough that her unarmed strikes pack an aetherial sting, but it is nothing that she can consciously manipulate to cure or manifest as fully trained Monks would demonstrate.</p></div>

=Abilities=

An arcanist first and foremost, Cam is well verse in much of the aetherial arts with thaumaturgy as her weakest area of knowledge.

=History=
Growing up in Limsa, Camille was an extroverted child that admired her older siblings immensely and was fiercely loyal to her friend Zarik. She desired to follow in her older brother's footsteps and become a bard, though still holding some interest in aetherial arts after her sister. Her father was an officer in the 'Cudas of Limsa and her mother was a bureaucrat with the arcanists. She enjoyed a cheerful childhood of adventures and music with Zarik. However both her brother and sister were misplaced in the Calamity and her family moved to Gridania to 'recover'.

She spent most of her time in Gridania learning at the Fane, expanding a natural gift for healing. A little after her 17th namesday Camille met a precocious young miqo'te named R'kyala who had left the deserts of Thanalan to explore the world. They took up the bow and decided to explore the mysteries of Eorzea together while continuing to search for Cam's siblings. Unfortunately R'kyala had to return to her tribe.

She has since reunited with her elder sister, though their relationship remains strained. Camille resides within Mist near Lisa Lominsa and devotes the majority of her time to scholarly pursuits, as well as collecting or studying things which probably ought be left alone. She still remains musically inclined and has been playing more frequently since having accompaniment to her harpsichord. The more interesting of her quiet affiliations may be with a group called the Collective. It is thanks to them she met Enkhjargal, with whom she now explores the world and to whom she was recently bonded.
