 What most do not know even when she enlisted in the order of the twin adder is that Safiya was at one point a male, and went through a transition process to become female. While she does portray some feminine features Safiya still holds some of her masculine features such as the muscular tone that she once held while working on her father's farm. Given that many of the things on the farm required working with their hands, Safiya found it best to go the route of becoming a monk; and not wanting to stay there for the rest of her life especially after her father's passage Safiya followed the deity of travel to make sure her travels were safe.
