Delivered by his dying mother to the caravan of a travelling magitek engineer as an infant, R'zao's only connection to his culture was the name she uttered with her final breath. Raised by the engineer, R'zao was trained in magitek and grew into a bright - if not unmotivated - young engineer. Preferring to use his talent in creating machinery to hunt monsters and beasts for gil, R'zao was forced to fully commit to his hobby when his adoptive father died in a freak accident. Now travelling across Eorzea with little more than the shirt on his back and the tools on his belt, he sells his services as a hunter and adventurer to the highest bidder while operating under his family name. And if he manages to aid those without gil to give along the way, that would just make his new life of danger and intrigue a little bit sweeter.

Cool, calm and collected, Pascal approaches most everything with his own off-kilter brand of wry humour and bored irreverence. Though he may seem apathetic or even lazy to most, his sharp mind, engineering genius and strong sense of personal justice shine through when it counts, betraying an inner depth of personality that makes him much more than meets the eye.

♦ MARKSMANSHIP - Having familiarised himself with the ins-and-outs of most firearms under from a young age, Pascal honed his marksmanship skills as a hunter and adventurer to become quite the crack shot. He often boasts that he could easily "shoot the cherry off an ice cream sundae", and anyone who's seen him in action would be hard-pressed not to take those words seriously.

♦ ENGINEERING - Pascal is an exceptional engineer, especially when it comes to weapons and traps. Having inherited a mastery of magitek from years of his father's tutelage, he possesses both a vast learned knowledge of machinery and an intuitive genius which allows him to come up with new ideas and concepts on the fly. Once the gears start turning in Pascal's mind, it isn't long before they start turning everywhere else.

♦ HUNTING AND TRACKING - As a Mi'qote, Pascal has been blessed with acute senses of sight, hearing and especially smell. Coupled with his personal experience hunting beasts and monsters alike, this makes him an extremely adept hunter and tracker who can pursue his pray through all manner of terrain.

♦ INTELLIGENCE - Pascal possesses the inquisitive, analytical mind of an engineer. It can be difficult for him to focus with so many ideas and concepts buzzing around his prodigious brain but, when he concentrates, there's little that can stand against his quick thinking.

♦ PERCEPTION - With an eye for detail and a surprising level of social awareness, Pascal is a highly perceptive person who is quick to notice when something is out of place. Behind his placid expression and languid demeanor, Pascal is always analysing and observing.

♦ MELEE COMBAT - Pascal may prefer to keep his enemies at a distance and stick to his guns when it comes to combat, but he's no stranger to a good fist fight. In his journeys across Eorzea, he has picked up a handful of techniques from Ala Mhigan mercenaries he's worked with, drunken monks he's won card games against and street fighters to create an eclectic, unrefined fighting style that relies largely on ducking, weaving and using his opponent's own momentum against them. Why fight someone when they can fight themselves?

With a natural poker face and a predilection towards toying with others, it'd probably be more surprising if he weren't a good gambler.

♦ DEXTERITY - Pascal is a Mi'qote in the prime of his youth, and he has the manual dexterity and coordination to prove it. With a body as nimble and sure-footed as his mind, it's no wonder he takes so easily to adventure.

♦ CHARISMA - Pascal may prefer his actions to speak louder than his words, but he likes his words to make an impression nonetheless. A smooth, confident and charming speaker with a spontaneous sense of humour, Pascal knows how to make friends and influence people despite his eccentricities.

♦ STRATEGY - Despite his intelligence, Pascal's impulsivity and irreverence make him poorly suited to long-term planning and positions of leadership.

Together they raised their daughter, Stella, until both were killed in the Calamity. Though she's gone, Bastian still loves her deeply and misses her with every fibre of his being. It was Elsa who gave Bastian the coat he is never seen without.   Stella (♥ ✖) - Gone Before Her Time Bastian's late daughter. Though she was only in his life for just over a year before the Calamity took her from him, he still loves her more than anything and wishes he had spent just one more day with her.   Osgar Harper (♥ ✖) - Paternal In Crime The Hyur con-artist who found an infant Bastian abandoned in Ul'dah, Osgar was the closest thing Bastian had to a father and the fact that he accidentally killed him is one of his deepest, darkest regrets. Osgar taught Bastian all that he knows about being a thief and a con-artist.   Strong Zephyr (♦ ♠) - Taught Him Everything He Knows Strong Zephyr was the Roegadyn sellsword who took a teenage Bastian under his wing and taught him how to fight and survive without Osgar at his side. Though Bastian still considers Strong Zephyr a friend and mentor, the fact that he drugged him and stole all his wealth when they last saw each other probably means that the feeling isn't mutual.
