Public knowledge Travelers who claim to hail from a distant Duskwight enclave known as 'Shadowhaven,' Isondre and her brother Isandor have arrived in Eorzea to make an impact, for good or ill. Despite their tendency to be outspoken in their disdain for city life -- and many of the cities' occupants -- they have garnered something of a reputation as mercenaries. She has exhibited an uncharacteristic curiosity in the magic of the Conjurers of Gridania, and has been making quiet inquiries about the possibility of a private teacher. Anyone who is knowledgeable about current events in the Conjurer's Guild may know that she requested to study there, but was turned away. Appearance and Demeanor Isondre is skilled with a bow, and takes pride in her most prized possession, a black batskin quiver embossed with a stylized silver peregrine. In combat, she is tenacious, agile, and fiercely protective of her brother, often seeming to prioritize his safety over her own. More than one foe, thinking to be clever by attacking the skilled lanceman from the rear, has suddenly sprouted an arrow from the eye. She also takes a haughty pride in her Elezen heritage, and regards "Duskwight" as an insulting epithet. It is rumored that one bounty used the term derogatorily, and was brought in with an arrow still protruding from his groin. To those accustomed to the look of the sun-loving Wildwoods, her appearance is unearthly and even unsettling. Her pale pink eyes speak to generations spent deep underground, as does her ash-and-stone colored skin. It is apparent, from the thick, hooded cloaks she and her brother don when forced to travel in the day, that it is not a comfortable thing to be in the light of the sun. Unlike her brother, however, there are certain aspects of being Above which she seems to take pleasure in. Rain, especially, enthralls her as a novelty, and brings a rare smile. Deeper truths Is there more to this story? Some wonder if the strange visitors are all they claim to be. For those who possess a deeper knowledge of the Duskwight Elezen: Highlight beneath to reveal secrets your character would know: If your character has some knowledge of Elezen culture: Secret: The peregrine was once associated with royalty in ancient Elezen culture. If your character has studied the 'classics' of ancient Elezen civilization, or had ancient Elezen bedtime stories read to them: Secret: The names Isandor and Isondre appear as the names of bygone royalty in Shen Lunaire Toi'vre, one of the oldest surviving Elezen texts. Your character has extensive knowledge of ancient Elezen heraldry: Secret: The peregrine crest belongs to one of the old Elezen royal bloodlines, House Peregrine. Your character knows everything there is to know about Duskwight Elezen, and then some: Secret: There is no Duskwight settlement called Shadowhaven. That, too, is a literary reference to a mythical Elezen stronghold deep within the earth, from the obscure ancient poem Aielle Dathre Poirét, or To Return To My Love.
