He is the wind; he breathes a breeze and returns a hurricane; He voraciously seeks identity and purpose, but what is left of him but an empty husk? He can't remember who or what he used to be, besides the villain to his own story. If Moth comes across as a prickly old bastard best left well alone, however, he’d likely pat himself on the back and call it a job well done. He doesn’t seem to really mind company all that much though, he’s just prone to defensiveness, albeit with some genuine prejudice and a smattering of inbuilt racism. He is a Grey and to many people that is all that he is and all he shall ever be. He skirts society, being the lost and reclusive soul that he is, and wanders through life searching for himself and his grander purpose. Given all this, Moth would never refuse to extend a helping hand (though his methods may be unorthodox) to someone in need. He gives his all, and expects nothing in return. L I K E S ■ Chocobos -- Moth loves his birds. And anyone's birds. It might actually get him talking. ■ Airships -- Both model and real life ones. He finds them utterly fascinating. ■ His Garden -- He enjoys the routine of looking after his garden, and seeing the fruits of his labour quite literally blossom before him. He's always had a knack for all things natural. D I S L I K E S ■ Battle -- Moth dislikes fighting, but if he can bring himself to take a stand, he shan't shy away. ■ Explosions and Fireworks -- They surface the horrific memories he drinks to forget. ■ Gridania -- He is a Duskwight. A Grey. That's all he'll ever be to them. Moth has been arrested several times on suspicion of chocobo thieving, when he's only been retrieving Oisaile or passing through. ■ Au Ra -- Whilst Moth is generally a little bit racist to anyone but other Duskwights, he has a particular dislike for Au Ra. Q U I R K S & V I C E S ■ Religion -- Moth's reverence for Nymeia, whilst recently shaken, has run deep since he was a boy. He values her highly in comparison to the rest of the Twelve, though he does hold a place for all of them in his heart. ■ Alcohol -- Moth isn't Moth without the scent of stale alcohol and straw about him. He drinks habitually and to excess. It's a lifeline to him. ■ Prude or Repressed? -- Talk of sexuality, innuendo, or anything vaguely dirty has him inwardly cringe and quickly leaving the conversation. S K I L L S ■ Crapped-out conjurer -- Yet what once was, might yet be again. ■ Chocobo care and riding -- Arguably one of Moth's biggest loves. He is a talented rider and handler, having broken in N'xai's draught chocobo, and he takes care of both said bird and Oisaile, his own Ishgardian bird. He loves them dearly. ■ Craftsman & Gardener -- Moth likes model airships and carpentry. He's a master of neither, but he can certainly get by and it's enough to be nearly self-sufficient. He's your classic old man when it comes to his garden, too. ■ Tarot and stargazing -- His Uncle Rossoix taught him how read the stars and use an Astrologian's deck. Whilst he fell just short of having astromancy properly revealed to him and so, has very little to no magical influence with his cards, Moth believes in their and Nymeia's guide. He rarely reads for anyone but himself. A P P E A R A N C E ■ Body: Moth is just below the average height for elezen, but he sports a lithe, balanced body. He has a subtle strength about his body and fairly toned. ■ Skin: Cold grey. ■ Hair: Medium and unruly. He's greying thick and fast, with a mallen streak of white that's very noticeable in his fringe. He used to have dark inky-blue hair when he was younger. ■ Eyes: A pale, watery amber. He'll occasionally wear glasses when reading or tending to his model airships. ■ Scars Two prominent scars on his face; one stretches diagonally from the the corner of his forehead, running down across the bridge of his nose and finally ending at the opposite corner's cheek. The other is a smaller cut across the other side of his cheek. Aside from a smattering of other nicks and scars across his body, Moth has a particularly nasty knot of scar tissue on his right thigh. ■ Clothes: Moth goes entirely for practicality when it comes to clothing. However, he does have a very small and fancy corner to his wardrobe, from when he was once a retainer. ■ Jewellery: He has a pair of simple silver hoop earrings.
