Narcolepsy
Just going to do a quick summation of what it actually pertains to, in case people don't actually know! Narcolepsy is a neurotic disease which and shortens sleep patterns, and generally just makes them erratic. A 'normal' person will sleep for a long period of time, then stay up for a long period of time. Narcoleptic people are unable to sleep for long periods of time, instead they are forced to take micro naps constantly. Reason for this is they hit the 'eye movement' stage as quick as 5 minutes into sleeping, while a person without the ailment takes upwards of an hour. Essentially it's the phase where you get easier to wake up.
Now, the second part of Narcolepsy is what people often think it is! It's called "Cataplexy", essentially a Cataplexy is a rare ailment, which is often paired with Narcolepsy (Though not always). A Cataplexy is the sudden relaxation of muscles, this can occur anywhere in the body, yet it is most common in the facial muscles. Cataplexy can be a random occurrence, or it can be triggered by over exertion on an emotional aspect. If someone gets too emotional, they can provoke a Cataplexy. Now, in short it essentially is just the 'lax' of muscles.... soo, for example someone's facial muscles could relax as a result and give them a deadpan, emotionless expression as if they weren't paying attention. Or their eyelids might fall closed, giving the illusion they just fell asleep (That's where the confusion of Narcolepsy comes in!) Sometimes even relaxing the muscles in the neck, causing the head to droop, again, as if sleeping.
LONG STORY SHORT: Doesn't sleep for long periods of time, takes constant 'micro naps', and is prone to muscle relaxation, such as head droops!
