Kanako Moonweaver

[edit]
Kanako Moonweaver (Pronunciation: Kah-nah-ko), was born on 5th sun of the 3rd Astral moon. Originally from Doma, she didn’t remain there for very long. Growing up around a Gypsy Caravan, they never remained stationary for long. When the trade routes from Doma to Eorzea opened, it didn’t take long for them to stowaway on one of the trade ships. She is very ambitious and hopes to make a business.
Kanako is rather tall compared to other female Raen Au ra, standing at 5 fulms & 2 ilms. Her light skinned complexion compliments her fiery red hair quite nicely. Her eyes closely matches the color of her hair, however, her eyes are a lighter and brighter red.
Charismatic. Determined. Ambitious. Kanako’s personality is one that is easy to get along with. She loves to have a good drinking buddy to share conversations with. She has a tendency to to talk mostly about business and the way that trade works. This is likely because that is what she deals with almost everyday, and likes to talk about her daily life. Although she may not act or talk like it, she pretty intelligent. Although not the smartest of the bunch, she’s pretty close.
This is a list of the items that Kanako currently is keeping on her. Feel free to use this information if it comes up logically in the course of RP, such as pickpocketing, a search, etc. Last Updated: 2/19/16.

She was only a teenager when she picked up her first lance. With already having experience with dancing with a staff and being able to move it rather quickly, she was able to get a hang the basics rather quickly. Instead of relying on brute strength, she relies on attacking as swiftly as possible. In her eyes it’s better to save your energy for multiple attacks then use it all on a couple of slow, hard hitting attacks.
Here is a list of recent and/or notable fights, roleplay scenes, etc. that Kanako has been a part of. This list is by no means all inclusive, and serves more as a general reference as to what she has been up to.
Kanako and her sister, Mamiko could’ve very easily died when they were first born. When their mother gave birth to these twins, she was only alive long enough to see their innocent faces. The father couldn’t live with these children, knowing that everyday, their faces would remind him of is deceased wife. In his grief, he told the caretaker to find someone that would take good care of them, someone who would give them a good life. The caretaker was unsure who to go to, who would take the time to raise children that weren't even their own, who did even have names. If it wasn’t for a motherly Hyur who happened to be purchasing some fabrics, who knows if the two babies would have a good upbringing. The women known as Yumi happily took the babies with her, back to her very large ‘family’. This family wasn’t blood related, in fact, they were complete strangers. Strangers who were brought together and treated each other as family. Since the two of them didn’t have any name, it was left to the women of this family to decide: Kanako and Mamiko Moonweaver.
Kanako was pretty young when she left Doma. When the trade routes between Doma and Eorzea, the Caravan waited 3 years before coming up with a plan to leave the country. After Yumi made some negotiations with a trade ship, they were able to make a deal where the ship could carry approx. 7 people at a time to Eorzea. Since there was a total of 15 people in the caravan, they had to make two trips which meant twice the pay. So long as they could provide their own food, and give provide them items that they could profit on in trade, they were good to come along. Before leaving, Kanako, Mamiko, and another au ra were given cloaks to cover their horns and tail, as it was likely that the people of Eorzea didn’t even know their kind existed. After about a week and a half, the entire caravan made it over to Eorzea. However, they didn’t stay stationary.
Always traveling, Kanako saw many places and met quite a few people and learned many things. Mamiko and Kanako learned the power of dance and would dance along with the adults every night by the campfire. They learned now to dance by watching and trying to make up their own dancing moves. With them receiving advice from the adult women, they soon found themselves being just as good as them. It was during the time that she was learning to dance and used a staff to help her dance that she laid her eyes on her first lance. No one was against her learning to fight with a lance, after all, everyone had to defend themselves somehow. She was able to get a hand of the basics rather easily since she already knew how to manipulate the movements of a staff. During their travels, they found themselves having the caravan growing a bit larger as some Eorzeans joined along. Amongst the Eorzeans was a 14 cycles old , male midlander who came along with his mother. They were of the same age and Kanako grew quite fond of him, it didn’t take long for them to fall in love and begin a teenage romance. Considering how close knit everyone was, a romantic relationship is usually a one that lasts. Her teen years with this male were rather normal. It was when they were both 16 cycles that they began to train together. He told her the stories of the Dragoons of Ishgard and how they were the best lancers in the realm. It was these stories that kept Kanako motivated to get better and better. Although it wasn’t until she was 18 cycles that she was able to progress further in her training, she kept practicing the basics until it took almost no effort. Life continued on as normal, traveling, performing and trading. It wasn’t until she reached 17 cycles. That this relationship looked to be falling apart. Kanako had dreams of leaving the caravan and living a more stationary life, she wished to be independent. Septimus showed no desire to leave, he wanted to stay with his new family for as long as Oshcon allowed. Realizing they both had different intentions, the happy relationship had ended.
After about a cycle of planning and gathering the resources, her and Mamiko left the caravan while they were in Limsa Lominsa. Kanako was more ambitious and adventure seeking compared to Mamiko, so when they were relaxing in the Drowning Wench, it was only inevitable that Kanako would look for trouble. She found herself holding a nice conversation with a pirate, little did she know it was a pirate captain. For the next two suns, she would spend her time with him. Talking, dancing for him and exploring his ship. He had grown such a liking to her that he had offered her a place amongst his crew. She happily accepted and before setting off to the great seas, she went to her sister and made her a promise. “I will come back and when I do, i’ll bring us back more than two times of the gil that the caravan gave us. We’ll settle down somewhere nice and make a name for ourselves. We’ll be rich!”. With that she left, and she would be away at sea for the next 5 cycles. Being one of the few women on the crew, she ran into the problem of many of the men trying to manipulate her. She had to learn rather quickly had to talk her way out of things, sometimes even use force. It didn’t take her long to gain the nickname Siren. A very alluring women, but once the men came to her, she didn’t kill them like a Siren, but she certainly left them with a broken heart and maybe a few broken bones. It was during her fourth year that she gained the Captains full favor. No one tried to get into her pants anymore, and she found herself gaining a bit more profit than everyone else. She was out at sea when the Calamity hit. They went as fast as they possibly could to escape the deathly waves, quick to try to make it to Limsa’s ports. It was when hope was close on the horizon when the saw the burning flames of Bahamut’s fire. They all believed that is was over, but within a blink of an eye, the fire was gone. They were on Limsa’s docks, safe and sound. The first thing Kanako wished to do was find her sister, but her first attempt at leaving was unsuccessful. Not only the captain wanted her the stay, the crew as well. It took her days of failed escape attempts until she finally found herself successful. Taking a dagger in the middle of the night, slitting the throat of the captain that lied next to her. Taking all the gil she could carry, she left the body of the captain as a message. This left an official bounty on her head, one that would follow her for cycles to come.
Kanako had no way to contact Mamiko, didn’t know where she was or anything. She didn’t bother to stay in Limsa as it was too dangerous, so she fled for the next best place, a place that she considered the safest - Gridania. The Twin Adders took the distressed young adult into their care, keeping her appearance hidden from the commoners by covering in a clock. They provided her food and shelter until she was no longer in need of their services. Considering that she was the first au ra they had ever seen, they kept her a secret. Telling her that if she wished to to roam in the Shroud, she had to keep her horns and tail as hidden as possible, just like the other one had to. After asking them who the other was, they gave her the name Mamiko. She asked one more request from the Adders and it was to find this woman. It didn’t take them long to track her down and reunite the two sisters. Using the skills that Kanako learned from the pirate crew and caravan, she opened up trade around the city of Gridania. Although it wasn’t much, it was enough to get by and still make a name for themselves. The two of them would go out on a hunt, sell the skins and whatever meat they wouldn’t use for themselves. Although most of their trade deals were with the citizens and merchants of Gridania, Kanako still managed to get around to Limsa Lominsa and Ul’dah, making their names somewhere known there too. It was when the Doman refugees came that they could finally show their faces, and make their names even more well known.
These are mostly backstory-related relationships.

Overall, I'm pretty chill as far as guidelines go. I don't have an extensive list of 'Do's or 'Don't's or things that I personally find triggering. So chances are, you won't offend me or make me uncomfortable unless you're trying to or just being really skeevy in general. Still, for the sake of making sure everyone's on the same page here, let me make a few mentions in particular:
