D’khai Tia

Upon initial meeting, it is clear to most that D’khai is a Miqo’te that has lived far away from the modern day times of Eorzea. His clothes are tattered, his face dirty and the man carries an almost animalistic air about him wherever he goes, his body always posed as though he is ready to pounce at a moment’s notice.

Born to a small group of Miqo’te that broke away from the Dodo tribe, D’khai has lived the entirety of his life within the forests of La Noscea, close to the base of the mountain O’ghomoro. A life of everlasting war against bands of Kobolds and honoring the spirits of their ancestors are how this man has been raised. With a burning passion to honor his ancestors by rising to the top and becoming Nunh of his tribe, D’khai is currently embarked on something akin to a pilgrimage. Only when he has bested the savage beasts he has witnessed in his dreams and visions will he know that he is ready to return home and challenge the tribe’s Nunh.

D'khai banner.png
Eyes Hair Skin Body Type
A very pale blue. Black. Often dirty, always scruffy and unkempt. Tanned. Slim yet toned. Think ‘Swimmer’s Build’.
Bearing Notable Features Nameday Voice
Curious. Intrigued. Rope tied around his right leg where he hangs several trinkets. 8th Sun of the Sixth Umbral Moon, 1555 Animalistic. Like a growl or snarl.

D’khai measures at a relatively small 5 fulms and 3 ilms. He has a slim athletic build, his body toned from a lifestyle of hunting and exploring. His legs show signs of thicker muscle compared to his chest and arms, suggesting the Miqo’te’s greater strength lies in his lower body from cycles of climbing, chasing and leaping.

The Miqo’te has a slim face, with thin lips and thick eyebrows that match the dark hair atop his head. His skin is tanned, adding to the appearance of an outdoor lifestyle which is supported further with the dirt that can often be found on his face and body.

His eyes are a pale blue and are striking compared to the rest of his dark appearance, giving him a piercing gaze. He also wears several patterns of paint across his face, always appearing with 3 dark spots upon his nose and two on either of his cheeks. The paint often appears more like dirt and is easily washed off, though the man is quick to reapply it, refusing to be seen without the patterns across his features.

His hair is thick, scruffy and dirty. The Miqo’te makes no effort to style it, leaving it flat and loose. The cut of his hair is not clean, either, implying a job that he has done himself. He never lets it grow too long, always receiving a jagged, brutal cut to it when it gets even slightly close to impairing his vision or hunting. Long hair can be such a nuisance, after all!

A quick look at this Seeker of the Sun shows that there is no care to his own appearance. His clothes are filthy, torn and battered. His hair is always unkempt and, even around others, he makes no effort to clean himself. His choice of clothing is very basic, with a small harness across his scarred chest and soft leathers covering his legs.

D’khai's voice is most notably quiet and, often, mistaken for the growl of an animal. He struggles with a calm tone, his words often turned into snarls even when the man appears at peace. His grasp of the common language of Eorzea is very simple and basic, causing him to struggle with pronouncing and understanding certain words. He often refers to himself in the third person, though from constant correction is trying to avoid himself from doing this any longer.

Strengths

D’khai’s strengths lie mostly in his basic nature. To begin with, he is incredibly loyal to those who have shown they deserve his trust. His tribe is small and he has learned to value friendship and thus is quick to act to defend those who have earned his. He has a great knowledge of hunting and has a wide variety of survival skills under his belt, such as building fires, cooking meats and navigating.

His savage nature and animalistic attitude serve to push D’khai into an aggressive role for many groups. He aims to get things done as fast as possible and show he is a capable ally that people can depend on. His desire to honor his ancestors and push to become the Nunh of his tribe adds to this, always pushing the man into trying harder until he succeeds.

While wanting to become Nunh, D’khai has trained vigorously with others in his tribe and also battled several bands of Kobolds that have moved too close to their home grounds. His experiences have developed him into something of a savage protector for those he cares about, using his strength and speed to distract and maim a foe while making sure his allies escape unscathed.

Flaws

While D’khai’s strength and hunting skill is always a welcome addition on a battle field, the Miqo’te has a distinct lack of understanding due to his basic upbringing. His animalistic attitude has made him rather stubborn which in turn makes the man a difficulty to control in certain situations. His aim to become a Nunh adds to this, as the man is always wishing to prove himself and has been known to ignore a direct order to attempt something he thinks is wiser.

His upbringing has further impacted the man causing the inability to read or write, a lack of general knowledge of magic and a distinct lack of ability with the art. Although D’khai was taught a few rituals to honor the ancestors and spirits of his tribe, magical arts such as Conjury and Thaumaturgy are far beyond his grasp.

D’khai also struggles with understanding complex ideas or plans. His attention span in a conversation is not the strongest, as he often finds himself distracted watching other people/creatures that may be nearby. While he is loyal and will try his hardest for an ally, at times he can also be slightly unreliable due to a habit of not listening.

The Tribe

D’khai’s tribe is a small group of Miqo’te that hail from the Dodo Tribe. They still label themselves as part of the Dodo Tribe, though follow their own path when it comes to their everyday lives.

Few from the tribe often leave their grounds, located deep in a La Noscean forest close to the base of O’ghomoro. His people are at a constant war with the Kobolds, both sides losing great numbers whenever they clash over land, though this does not happen often. They are savage hunters, choosing to shy away from modern day Eorzea and instead they live a secluded life away from the city states.

The tribe is very spiritualistic, holding rituals and appointing Shaman to speak with their ancestors. The majority are taught how to call upon their ancestors for guidance and all are raised to honor and respect their tribesmen of old. The tribal upbringing has caused a great dislike of cities and towns within D’khai, the man only allowing himself to enter for extreme circumstances.

D’khai’s tribe is relatively small, holding only one Nunh, five Tia and roughly twenty females. It was when speaking with his ancestors that D’khai embarked on his great hunt, following the clues he was left in his vision to seek out the prey that will guide him to becoming stronger. He fully intends to return to his home upon vanquishing enough creatures to fight for his place as the new Nunh.

Combat

An upbringing of training and hunting has led to D’khai having great skill when it comes to battle. His weapon of choice is something that is two-handed. Usually the Miqo’te sticks to sporting a large stone axe, though he has been known to wield a large branch or rock at times as well. He is a bruiser, swift to move up close to his opponent and do whatever he can to prevent them from fleeing. He is a skilled melee combatant, using his build to duck below blades and slip around enemies quickly. Despite his choice of heavy weapon, the Miqo’te keeps himself mobile in combat and is quick to dodge the strikes of his enemies, always looking for the perfect moment to strike a counter.

D’khai has never worn heavy armor and instead sticks to a shawl which exposes his torso, a cloth skirt and a pair of leather caligae. While many who choose to wield such weapons up close protect their bodies with heavier gear, D’khai sees this as an insult to both his own skills and the skills of his opponent. He uses the advantages of a heavy weapon with a lot of mobility as much as possible, never staying still in a battle and always remaining light on his feet, looking for the perfect opening to deal a devastating blow.

While his savage nature and upbringing grant the Miqo’te some strength, his slimmer and short build often puts him at a disadvantage against larger opponents. Added with his choice of lighter gear, the Miqo’te has no real defense against strong attacks launching him across the room. A lack of training with a bow and magical prowess also puts him at a terrible disadvantage should he find himself against a ranged opponent that refuses to allow him to close the gap.

D’khai sees combat as a way of showing strength and thus is always eager to partake in it, for sport or survival. He is a respectful fighter and is not one to mock an opponent, though he will also do whatever is needed to win his battle – be that a kick in the groin or any other methods.

Skills and Preferences

D’khai's biggest love is to hunt. He rarely does this with others, though is always open to people aiding and joining him with hunting down his prey.

His love for hunting is one of his biggest driving factors, the Miqo’te always pushing himself to learn new hunting areas and down bigger targets. He is often reckless due to his passion for the sport, doing whatever he can to succeed in his hunt, even if it means sustaining several injuries.

Trivia & Miscellaneous
