Profile

A Seeker of the Sun born of the Antelope tribe, nestled away near the border separating Thanalan from the Black Shroud. A'mari had the misfortune of being born a runt among a tribe of warriors, a tribe of Seekers that prized physical strength and prowess above all else. His status as a weakling cemented him as the tribe's punching bag, the male being branded Tia and forbidden even from challenging the Nunh, as impossible a feat it would have been. It wasn't until his fifteenth summer that he was able to flee from his tribe, finally having scavenged enough supplies and coin to make the trip to Ul'dah, a grand state that he'd heard tale of. It was there that, after a short career as a pick pocket, he was able to earn an apprenticeship in the Ossuary, making use of his natural born aetherial aptitude. It was hard on the Seeker, his time spent in his tribe having ill prepared him to accept the authority of another. It wasn't long until, having grown tired of taking commands and orders, he stole into the night with essays and tomes lifted from their shelves, disappearing into the desert.

He didn't return to civilization for years, having been content to remain out among the wilds perfecting his art and poking around ruins. It wasn't until years later with the return of the Empire that he came back, nearly fifteen years later. In the mean time the Ossuary had undergone a 'management change' and with the shifting of the guard, his crimes were all but forgotten. He makes his way through the City States now, looking for and pouncing on any and all opportunity to advance his research.

Appearance & Personality

A'mari, like all people, is a person defined by his background. He's an arrogant and supremely confident male, traits bred out of the adversity he's faced on his journey. Brash, rude, and extremely forward are all things that define this miqo'te, something someone would recognize very quickly. Like others with these particular traits, there's a faint yet distinct sense of weakness hiding behind it; a sense that he's hiding some weakness behind that image of strength.

Other than that, he's what you'd expect from a Seeker of the Sun. He's on the tall side for his people, standing just a few inches under his Hyur counterparts. His hair is brown and kept short to keep it easy to clean, the male preferring as little hassle as possible. While he's normally seen carrying a blade, he appears to lack any noticeable muscle mass. It's clear from his build that he's not much of a physical fighter, preferring his position behind a desk to the front lines of any battle.

The Antelope Tribe

On the border separating the eastern reaches of Thanalan from the Black Shroud rest the Antelope, a tribe of Seekers that have struggled to make their way in the world. Driven there by threat of extinction, they’ve had little choice but to carve out their own niche in a land that would have nothing to do with them. In their earlier years conflict with their sister clan was constant, with skirmishes between the Antelope and various Keeper tribes an almost daily occurrence. These years of battle took their toll on the Seekers of the Antelope, hardening them to more than just their enemies. It was during this time that the Antelope became what they are today; a tribe of fierce and territorial warriors that prize physical strength above all else. Seekers that reject the aetherial and technology in favor of traditional martial skill.

The Antelope are proud of their heritage and traditions and as such adhere to them almost religiously. They’re led by only one Nunh despite their numbers, with challenges infrequent. Their dedication to combat ensures that whomever ends up Nunh is by far the strongest, having had to depose the current Nunh as well as any other challengers that may be waiting in the wings. They do not trade or seek relations with Gridania and so both Tia and female share the responsibility of the hunt, both necessary to provide enough meat and supplies to keep the tribe running.

Something that sets them apart from other Seeker tribes as well as their sister clan is the almost complete absence of any mysticism. They’ve no Elders or Seers capable of guiding or advising the tribe through aetherial means, only making a rare exception for the occasional healer. In the tribe’s collective mind it’s their strength that allowed them to flourish in a land that rejected them and their strength that overcame the magic of their Keeper brethren. They see no need for it and as such reject it vehemently, magic having long become an anathema to them.
