General Information
Dayir Ura is a man who carries a mystery all to himself. Some have known the man who delves into the deepest, most insane depths at the spurring of a mere rumor. That man is armed, covered in tools and equipment, a curious glint in his eye and a focused resolve on his expression. Several others know the man who walks with all the confidence that Hydaelyn can bestow, ancient jewelry hanging from his body, long coat billowing as he moves. That man is the one who finds himself with the strange, the arcane, and the beautiful, some curiosities going to the highest bidder... some going only Twelve know where. Making his living, ostensibly, as a merchant, Dayir is simply someone who wants what no one else knows exists, chasing artifacts, magickal research, and lost places, a hound for the lore of the world, and a man with the resolve and talent to seek it out.

The Ura are are a mining people, born to the earth, and tied inexorably to it. Beyond the trade of ore and wares, such a wandering spirit as Dayir's was never accepted among his kin, and his wild, dangerous antics as a boy would soon cause him to be spurned by his tribesmen. It would not be long before, one particularly emotional night, he was cast away from the Steppe, finding himself alone and defenseless in a continent that would rather see him dead than thrive. Only through the benevolent actions of a kind benefactor was he kept from the ever-expanding abyss of death that awaited him. The Lord Laurent, both his caretaker and teacher, managed the impossible task of raising a wild teenager of a wild people into a refined, noble man. He nearly have entered politics. Can you imagine? However, Dayir was bitter, and the spite of what cast him away still lingered in the young man's heart. Where most would have turned to vengeance, Dayir, curiously enough, turned towards information. His people were ignorant. He would not be. His people were poor. He would not be. He learned to fight from drunken escapades through noble houses, and refined his brawling into something more powerful with the tutelage and harsh instruction. Already voracious for knowledge, he set out with a final 'thank you' to stake his claim on Hydaelyn.

That was seven years ago. He was young and brash, then.

His people were cowards.

He would not be.

Hair & Eyes
Medium-length, not quite long enough that it would potentially get in the way of his work. It matches well with his bright, glowing white limbal rings that dominate his gaze.
Physique & Markings
Dayie keeps the physique that can only mark one who has done extensive travel and training. While not some muscle-bound strongman, Dayir is nonetheless more than strong enough to fight those larger than he, and make hiw way out of a difficult situation. He is lean, and firm, due to his many years spent traveling and hunting. Though he's acquired several scars over the course of his life, he has no significant markings to speak of.
Hygiene & Attire
Dayir's hygiene may vary, depending on where he is at any given moment. It can be difficult to stay clean on a long trip. He keeps himself presentable, however, once he's home. Dayir takes great care to make certain that he holds himself to a high enough standard, while not being overly narcissistic. How well he does with that last goal depends on who you ask.
Personality
Psychological Profile
Dayir hides much underneath his veil of confidence and upright mannerisms. While he would never be prone to outright change his personality on the fly, much of his past experiences have left a world-weary man in their wake, and it often shows in everything from his gaze, to his anecdotes. Nonetheless, nothing has downtrodden him so far that he loses his sharp wit, and curious gaze. Dayir truly takes great joy in studying the world around him, and he would never admit the (admittedly small) embers of kindness that have stayed alight in his soul. A wandering soul, Dayir refuses to stay in one place for too long, leaving as quickly as he arrived.
Voice
Dayir speaks with the tonality of a man with experience under his belt, even though his age wouldn't show it. Playful and forward, Dayir is just as likely to jest as he is to speak with a serious tone.
Philosophy & Mannerisms
Dayir is well-spoken, and it extends to his manner. Walking tall, Dayir rings with both confidence and wit in equal measure, and far prefers moving outside of his comfort zone and tackling something head-on, as opposed to sitting about, deliberating about it. He carries the philosophy that every person is an opportunity, and every soul has a story, and something from which to be gained.

History
Sixth Astral Era
Childhood
Dayir's childhood is not a topic he likes to discuss. Perhaps, over a few drinks, and maybe some extremely pleasant conversation, he can be convinced otherwise.

Seventh Umbral Era
Adulthood
One particularly emotional night, he was cast away from the Steppe, finding himself alone and defenseless in a continent that would rather see him dead than thrive.

In Recent Times
Moving Forward

Upon leaving his home and given family behind, Dayir scraped together a meager living, taking odd jobs where he could, wandering the Eorzean continent in search of information. For two long, harsh years, the man was little more than a vagabond with an unfortunate amount of wanderlust. His hard work would pay dividends in the long run, however. The Calamity brought about great change to the land, and places that were once well-traveled were now unsafe, even impassible, for all but the bravest, or most foolhardy. Dayir was, and still is, both. Risking life and limb on wild hunches and making desperate plays built on nothing but bravado and bold claims, the man became known, slowly but surely, as a valued contributor to the combined knowledge of the lore of the continent, placing himself where very few scholars are willing to go, and nearly killing himself in the process.

In his mind, however, his work is only beginning, and much of the world is still ripe to be delved into, secrets still buried, lying in wait for the next intrepid soul to uncover them. Dayir carries a heavy heart; he has not been home in a long time, and the bitterness of his past still weighs on him much more than he would ever care to admit. What drives the man so doggedly forward? Dayir still has a long way to go.

Places where the character is very likely to be seen
Thanalan: Very likely
The Black Shroud: Likely
La Noscea: Likely
Ul'Dah: Likely
Ishgard: Possible
Affiliations
Most of these aren’t public, and would have to be asked after!
Ul'Dah Merchant's Guild: Affiliated, mainly for the purposes of moving the goods he acquires.
More affiliations to come, as his story progresses!
RP Limits
I like to consider myself a flexible player who is willing to commit to a number of different types of scenes and role-play scenarios, but even I have my limits. If something is on the play list, assume it means yes, as long as it's within the context of the current play or ongoing plot. No's are typically a hard no, and it means don't ask.
I will play There is very little that I am not comfortable with. I am comfortable with combat, romance, as well as darker themes, including painful stories, and murder. I am willing to RP over Discord, if that's more comfortable to you!
Ask about Cheating; this is more of a personal pain.
I won't play I will not kill Dayir; that will be planned, if it ever occurs.
RP Hooks
While the below is by no means comprehensive, it's a kind of spring board for walk-up RP. Longer plots that are meant to run for more than a few quick RP's, please feel free to send me a tell so we can work out a good reason for our characters to get to know one another. I'm always looking for RP, unless I'm actively spamming PvE content.
■ If your character finds themselves dealing with the arcane, mystical or old, Dayir is likely interested in what you've got going on!
■ If your character adventures, bodyguards, functions as a mercenary, or anything along those lines, Dayir is more than likely to come along, if only for the sake of the journey, and experiences.
■ If your character is a scholar, or a writer, or a bookworm. They have a lot to talk about.
■ If your character is interested in exploration, or finding new experiences, or simply needs to get out of their comfort zone, meeting Dayir could be a powerful experience for them!
■ If your character is looking for a traveling partner, Dayir is always glad to have company, and I love writing small adventures for characters.

OOC Notes
Player Information
Player Note
There is a lot of information on this character wiki, but it is by no means completely comprehensive. There are chunks of backstory that are left intentionally vague so that details can be later added as developed through creative writing or in role-play revelation. Feel free to use Common or Uncommon rumors freely, if you want to use a Rare Rumor as a plot hook or to spark RP, I would ask that you send me a tell first, to make certain it's alright.

Tropes & Explanations
A trope is a convention or device that is often found in creative works. In this case, the tropes below describe my character either in part, or as a whole. Their background, personality, appearance, etc, most of them can be described in the tropes below.
Trope Tropes are devices and conventions that a writer can reasonably rely on as being present in the audience members' minds and expectations. On the whole, tropes are not clichés.
