Growing up in a smaller branch of the Kahkol, Erdene was introduced to a wide array of traditions and beliefs from a young age through the members who previously hailed from other tribes. She has a high tolerance when it comes to cultures that differ from those she grew up with, and an open mind towards anything that may be deemed 'out of the ordinary' to most. She tends not to judge people based on tradition and culture, so long as it has no negative impact on the people around her. Strangers tend to be met with a smile and a positive disposition, and she's quick to act familiar with people if they show no hostility towards her.

Some may call her foolishly kind, or a naive pacifist, but Erdene holds fast in her belief that violence among people should be a last resort. She strives to become a leader like her grandmother, capable of looking at other Xaela as individuals rather than representatives of their tribes as a whole. Though she is by no means a great fighter, and never gained the official title of Warrior of the Steppe, her skill with magic shows promise, even if she is loathe to admit it. Erdene caught on to her talent for the shamanic arts, and was taught by a Mol throughout her younger years. The art of mending and the soothing of people's spirits comes naturally to her, and she takes great pride in being able to extend the aid to those who might need it.

At times, her childlike curiousity for the customs of places outside her home may make her seem young and inexperienced, but she is resourceful, and confident in her own abilities to survive and get by. Years of fighting against the odds in the Steppe has hardened her spirit, and she'll get quite stubborn if she has a goal in mind. But while survival is her own main priority, the wellbeing of others is a close second, and it's not unlike her to risk her safety for the sake of others -- and she'll fight until the bitter end if she must.

L I K E S
Storytelling -- After a friend of a friend introduced her to stories of foreign lands, Erdene came to have a love for both fairytales and real stories from abroad. If the chance to hear a tale arises, she's likely willing to listen with great interest.
Campfire chats -- Something she misses dearly from her time in the Steppe. To Erdene, there's nothing quite like gathering around a campfire to share a meal or speak of the day gone by. It serves as a nice reminder of home, and she quite enjoys the feeling of camaraderie that can form between people during it.
Dancing -- Traditional dancing was some of Erdene's favourite things to do back in the Steppe. Since arriving in Eorzea, she's taken an interest in the dances of other regions, and though she's unlikely to do it in public, she does try to imitate them at times.
Spectating -- As a stranger in a foreign land, Erdene has somehow managed to find it interesting to be a mere spectator at times. She's often content to simply sit quietly and watch things play out before her if they don't call for her involvement.

D I S L I K E S
Violence -- Erdene is the type to leave violence as an absolute last resort. If an issue can be solved peacefully, she's liable to go that route, even if it might end up more complex and time-consuming. She considers it an important trait in a leader to be able to find solutions that don't put anyone's wellbeing at risk.
Winter -- Winter was always the harshest season on the Steppe for Erdene. Sickness, shortage of food and the cold all attributed to her lack of enthusiasm whenever winter approached. It's not a season she looks forward to.
Coffee -- A drink she never tried before coming to Eorzea. She absolutely hates the taste, and while it might be a quick energy boost, she'd rather go without it. She got by without that stuff on the Steppe, after all.
Q U I R K S & V I C E S
Shamanism -- Erdene was taught the ways of her ancestors from a young age; calling upon the spirits around her to aid her, and thus using their energy to cast magic. While she can cast most magic without much of a hassle, her healing often requires a more focused state of mind -- almost like a trance, in which she's better able to sense the aether in a person to help her mend their wounds.
Resourceful -- Being raised in a somewhat harsh environment, Erdene has often had to make do with limited resources. She'd often find creative ways to reach her goal with what she had to work with, a skill that has proven to be useful now that she's far from home.
Idealistic naivety -- Erdene never had many opportunities to grow into a role of leadership; several of her more recent years were spent travelling with three people at most, and she left the leading to her tribesister. As such, her ideas of peace between people was never challenged, and she's ended up with a very idealistic way of thinking when it comes to resolving disputes between members of other tribes. She's come to learn the hard way that those ideals need to change.
S K I L L S
Shamanism -- See ‘Shamanism’ under Quirks and Vices
Hunting -- Though she's not physically strong enough to put down an animal with a spear, Erdene has found other ways to hunt. Tracking and trapping are skills she's become adept at, and when those aren't enough for bigger prey, she'll throw in a spell or two to finish the job -- often to put them to sleep, after which the kill is easy.
Reading and Writing -- A skill she's by no means very good at. With no access to reading material at her home, her only experience with the written language came from her tribesister's friend, who taught her only a few years before she left for Eorzea. She's mastered the common tongue in speech, but she's still very much learning her letters.
Archery -- She never mastered the bow and arrow in the Steppe, but she has, in recent years, started training with it again. She has a long way to go before she can call herself competent, and her draw leaves a lot to be desired, but she's intent on one day being good enough to actually use it for hunting.
Cooking -- A lot of her time with her tribe was spent at camp if she wasn't on hunting duty. She often helped with the cooking, and picked up several tips from her tribe members. Thanks to that, she has a flair for cooking, and a good idea of how to bring out the flavour of different ingredients.

Body: Of average height for an Auri woman. She's slender and not very muscular, despite being of the Steppe. There's only few scars marking her body, and her scales are usually kept in good condition. She's by no means robust, and easily bruises.
Skin: Pale, with a faint light blue shade to it. Smooth, save for the few areas where there are scars, though her hands are slightly calloused.
Hair: A dark, earthen brown colour with tips dyed grey-blue. She almost always keeps it tied into two pigtails with feathers for decoration.
Eyes: A gentle blue colour, with limbal rings that carry a hint of purple. She's been told they're reminiscent of the colours of dusk -- a comparison she's not wholly opposed to.

Clothes: Erdene dons a variety of clothing; simple furs or tribal clothing is what she's most comfortable with, but she's also started picking up on more Eorzean styles when going to more public places -- just to look presentable. She does take pride in the dark purple colour of her tribe, but is just as likely to wear blue colours, often with a mix of white, grey or black. Most of her clothing is made of cloth or leathers -- she doesn't seem quite comfortable in heavier pieces of armour, despite the protection it offers.
Accessories: From simple necklaces made with a leather string and beads or bones, to pieces obtained via traders in Reunion, Erdene wears accessories with several outfits, though usually when she's not expecting to get into a fight. Out in the field, she usually brings a bag made of cloth, with some of her own scales sewn into it.
Weaponry: Since she's not much of a warrior, Erdene doesn't carry a lot of weaponry meant for battle. She often has her cane with her; a simple wooden stick with a gemstone in it. Otherwise, she keeps a small blade on her at all times -- whether a dagger for hunting, or a simple knife for self-defense.

Shinji Isogai | Among the first people she formed a connection with when she came to Eorzea. Shinji helped her get started with adventuring, and from there she came to view him as something akin to a tribe member -- a brother away from home, despite his Raen heritage.
Theocin Ashgarde | Though she's only met him briefly, Theocin has left a lasting impression on Erdene. A man who's willing to listen, and better yet offer a hand to those in need.
Larxas Dotharl | A Dotharl she met briefly in the Steppe, but her first impression was strong enough to give her a deep respect of the man. She had her doubts about him, but when he risked his safety to aid her tribe sister, he ended up as (probably) the only Dotharl she truly respects so far.

Coeurl Consortium | Current workplace and a place she's come to frequent somewhat often. She quite enjoys the company of the people there.
Kaseji Khitai | A fellow Xaela who lost his tribe. Erdene has quite a bit of respect for the man.
Miira Kagon | The two were off to an incredibly rough start -- which Erdene deeply regrets. She yet tries to make amends for her mistakes, though the task seems difficult.
Irtei Buduga | Not a man Erdene thinks highly of, though she's trying to overcome her own prejudice. Something that's not easily done when the other part appears intent on
Zansei Asano | A samurai from the Far East that Erdene convinced to craft a set of tanto for her to use.
Kira Moravvi | A Keeper she met through Shinji. She enjoys the woman's company, and finds her Carbuncle intriguing.
Batsaikhan Oronir | Originally held respect for the man on the grounds he's an Oronir. Now, she's no longer sure what to think of him.

Tribe-names hidden due to spoiler territory; she'd be interested in interacting with members of any tribe, but contact me if you're curious as to whether she's had a member from a specific tribe within her branch!
Chinua | Mother. She was very fond of her, and at times misses her greatly.
Argun | Father. While they had a decent relationship, he was one of the branch's main hunters, and as such Erdene's time with him was limited.
Bayalun | The elder of the branch, and in effect its leader.
Qadan | One of the older members of the branch. Erdene had a lot of respect for him.
Solongo | Only a few years older than Erdene, and thus became one of her closest friends.
Altagen | A member Erdene didn't get to know too well before he passed. She sometimes regrets not getting to know him better.
Tarkhan | Tuya's fallen mate. Erdene looked up to him.
Oyuun | Tuya's child, and in a sense, Erdene's pupil. Or at least, he was, until she left for Eorzea. She'd already gotten him started, in any case.
Tuya | Several years older than Erdene, and something of a sister to her. They've stuck together through thick and thin, and Erdene would gladly risk her life for the woman.
Valdai | Tuya's friend, who joined the group when he returned from his travels abroad. He brought with him stories of other lands, and taught Erdene a great deal.
Jargal | Erdene presumed him to be dead when she, Tuya and Oyuun got separated from the tribe, but she recently discovered he's alive and sticks with a bigger group of Kahkol.
Tsolmon | One of the branch's better fighters. Like Jargal, Erdene didn't see her for several years, but she's happy to know the woman is still kicking.
