Jewellery: Feryal always wears her wedding band, and keeps rosary beads wound around both hands; to the more religiously inclined, they emit a soft glow...
P E R S O N A L I T Y
Child of the Dragonsong War. Countess de Maintigny. Adventurer. Relic hunter. Void scholar.
Elegant ◆ Inquisitive ◆ Naive ◆ Strong willed

The youngest of nine children, Feryal was a child doted upon and would admit to having an idealistic childhood despite living through the end of the Dragonsong War. The war enforced a restrictive lifestyle for her, but that only encouraged her precocious mind and adventurous spirit. She embodies the ENTJ personality trait with her charisma and charm; a woman that is drive by rationality, determination, and her sharp wit to achieve whatever end she chooses to achieve for herself, as well as those under her charge. It is no secret that she is hardest on herself.

A widow and mother at a young age, she quickly learned that the world isn't all sunshine and rainbows; that doesn't stop her from trying to see the world from rose coloured glasses. Just about everyone gets the benefit of the doubt as they come through the door, and very few will face judgment from the Scholar. The few that do, however, are faced with arrogance and judged harshly based on (sometimes) past prejudices. It takes her some time to get to the point, but once she holds a grudge, she will very rarely let it go.

At the heart of all the arrogance and haughty facade, Feryal is a soft-hearted healer; one of her charges ended up becoming her second husband later. With her charges, she finds that a sincere 'thank you' is more than enough for her, always telling others that she has no need for material items for a skill she was born to use. She also is a good listener when it comes to tales of woe; trying to help when she could and comfort them as best she can when she can't. Many have commented that she has a motherly streak, and to that end, they aren't wrong.

The chase for knowledge is what drives the curious Scholar; everything is always a fingertip away and Feryal is always eager to learn more. Her current focuses of studies have been void and void containment, magitek building, aether entanglement and poisoning, and the odd ecosystems of the places she finds with the Aether Cats. This pursuit of knowledge is an area of discord between her and her husband, as she has yet to find the limit to her curiosity. The drive to know more will always keep a light in her step and her head held high as she continues upon her many adventures.
L I K E S
Reading -- As a scholar, Feryal is an avid reader, and she finds most subjects well within her interest. The thirst to know more - and to somehow use that knowlege to help others - will always drive her.
Adventuring -- Leaving Ishgard with her husband gave her a sense of wanderlust. She curious of other lands and cultures; often bringing odd bits home.
Drawing -- What started as a method of remembering the places she's visited, Feryal eventually became an skilled artist.
Quiet nights in -- For all her love of adventuring, she enjoys the quiet nights home: gardening, baking with her daughter, reading and spending time with her husband.

D I S L I K E S
Cruelty -- Feryal will unquestionably react to defend victims of cruelty or malice.
Foul language in public -- The courtier in her will look down upon those that use it unnecessarily. She dislikes vulgarity as a whole.
Being dirty -- Feryal is a spoiled woman that loves the small comforts in life; she hates having a torn hem or a dirty shoe.
Lalafell -- While already having made a few friends that disprove this prejudice, she still is set on edge by most of this race and it takes a while for her to warm up to them. As a Countess that comes from old money, she believes they have not earned their money 'the proper way' most likely to either lie or warp their words to not mean what they say.
S K I L L S
Cunning and intelligent -- Feryal had proven to be a precocious student; her drive for knowledge keeping her from asking the right questions, at times. For that, she is her thaumatuge mentor's prized apprentice, working with him on most of his unothodox projects.
Fencing -- Not just the art of nobles, she prefers blade over firearms, and casting before blades. She tries to not rely on her husband too much for defense.
Drinking and gambling -- An odd trait that one wouldn't expect from the Countess, Feryal is more than adept in drink mixing (while preferring to not drink, herself) and finds some amusement in gambling. Both are hidden vices frowned upon by her ever pious husband.
T R O P E S
[Proper Lady]: Dark haired and pale skinned, Feryal is a woman that is gentle, yet strong willed. She possesses wit and civility; is devoted and loyal. Devoted wife and loving mother, she still proves herself to be a Lady with her impeccable manners and dress.
[Silk Hiding Steel]: Despite looking the damsel, Feryal is a woman of a cunning mind with sharp intelligence and a strong will that won't bow for anyone. And should the time come to fight, she won't hesitate.
[Mama Bear]: Very rarely will she bring up her daughter, it goes without saying that her old daughter is well-loved. Not only does Feryal bring home souvenirs for her, but Feryal will also slit your throat if you threaten her.

T R I V I A
While not at all religious, she always carries rosary beads with her; always blessed. To those more religiously inclined, they give a soft glow...
Feryal studies the void, toeing the line of what's considered 'good' and 'bad'. Her focus of study, however are, void containment and explulsion
Some good plot points are aether entanglement, void studies and containment, thaumaturgy, and exploration. Feryal loves to talk of Ishgard but she loves hearing a good story even more.
While very family oriented - she is very close to the siblings she has left, and dotes upon her daughter - she doesn't bring up her in-laws too much; if ever...
Choosing vanity over practicality, Feryal chooses to carry ice and fire crystals on her, rather than dress appropriately for travel. They have also been blessed...
Her basement not only houses her lab for her to study random curios that she happens upon during her studies, but also but some pieces of magitek...

Ask if I'm interested in plots and stories; I love them! Slice-of-life is okay but I do have a preference for plot driven stories, and am okay with conflict being used as a means of character development.
I would be happy to serve as an NPC for an event in a pinch, as I love the challenge of writing/making up a character on the spot. Given time, I can DM as well but my method tends to be unorthodox.
For reference, I am dropping my page here for the Aether Cats roll system. Good to take a look at for character stats.
