General Information

Glittering Sky, or Sky is she is known to the folks she meets, is a Hellsguard conjurer and wanderer of Eorzea. A friend to everyone she meets (whether they like it or not), Sky is disarmingly chill. She has little-to-no self-awareness, but she is an absolute sweetheart with an appreciation for nature.

Appearance

As typical of a hellsguard, Sky's skin is hued rather red - which contrasts with her bright blue eyes and hair, the latter of which she typically keeps tied back in a simple high ponytail. As typical of some hellsguard, she has a dark coloration at the edge of her broad nose. Her form is muscular, as expected from one of her breeding, but her friendly body language and constantly warm smile all but eliminate any intimidation factor she may have.

Mannerisms

Sky approaches most conversations with a warm smile, always seeing the silver lining in a situation. She is kind, gentle, and affectionate, but she has very little self-awareness, which causes problems sometimes. In her carelessness, she can be a little accident-prone. If she causes any kind of destruction due to her clumsiness, she tends to shrink into herself like a guilty puppy.

Sky believes the world is full of potential friends. She tries to get along with everyone, and is a pacifist - believing in nonviolent conflict resolution. She relies heavily on her intuition, and has a communal attitude regarding the ownership of goods, especially basic needs.

Kind: Above all, Sky is kind. She's the type of woman who will give you the shirt off her back...even if it does cause quite a stir in the alley. Healer: As an experienced conjurer and an expert on the medicinal properties of Moko, Sky is a competant healer...and her bedside manner is absolutely lovely. Calm: Though she may cause destruction through her lack of awareness, Sky is not at all prone to anger, and practically incapable of lashing out.		Unaware: For various reasons, Sky lacks any kind of self-awareness which can cause a number of problems - be they careless accidents or intruding upon someone else's personal boundaries. Doormat: The downside of her inherent nonviolence is that she tends to just sort of go along with what other people want to do, even if she wants to do something else. Glutton: The woman can eat, and she will eat whatever she can get her hands on, regardless of whose property it is. This isn't done out of malice, but it is a problem nonetheless.

Early Life

Childhood

Sky was the youngest of four siblings in a large family, the children of Stark Horizon and Crimson Sea. Her family was well-known as a famiy of travelling sellswords, and their children would be trained as such. When she was five, Sky snuck out of camp to follow her father, Stark, to see what he would do. She was horrified to witness him killing a young woman. The woman could have been a terrible person, a wanted criminal, and her father was only doing his job, but the sight of such violence left a profound impact on her.

During these years, she practically clung to her older sister, the third child, Blazing Sun. Their two older brothers, Northern Star and Dark Moon, were already training to be sellswords themselves one day, and were always seen wrestling with each other and would tease Sky for not wrestling with them. Sun, meanwhile, was far more gentle, a light in the darkness for Sky...

Adolescence

This of course changed as Sky's siblings got older. Sun began to embrace the sellsword life and began training with her brothers. This was also when Sky began to notice that her siblings and parents were drinking constantly. Drinking, training, always so violent and loud. Sky's gentle heart could not understand this, and vowed not to touch alcohol as it seemed to bring out the worst in her family.

When Sky reached her teens, the time came for her to train. She refused to pick up a weapon, and would flee into the wilderness every time it came up. The (sometimes) calm beauty of nature became her sanctuary in a life of yelling and violence. She learned to meditate to escape the terror of that violent life, but even that wasn't enough. At 17, she was meditating in the Twelveswood, when an elderly traveler happened upon her. They talked for a time, and Sky expressed her frustration that she could not calm her heart. The man offered her some moko, claiming that the herb would allow her body to calm enough for her meditation to prove fruitful. Desperate, Sky partook, and sure enough - she was able to meditate and calm her terrified spirit.

Her meditations from then on proved so successful, in fact, that she felt a true connection to nature unlike anything she had experienced before. So late in the night, she snuck away to Gridania, where she would train in conjury.

She never really saw her family after that.

Adulthood

For the next few years, Sky trained in conjury. She was not exactly the brightest student, but she was eager to learn, and her connection to nature unmistakable. Once her training was complete, however, she wasn't sure what to do. She was used to travelling, but did not want to join adventuring parties due to the inherent violence of the job. So instead she offered her services to travelling caravans, offering free conjury in exchange for sharing food and a tent with her.

And thus she has lived for several years. Moko remained a steadfast habit, and she learned everything she could about the herb - both in medicinal and recreational use. She even learned how to cultivate her own, in time.

Recent Times

During a visit to Limsa Lominsa, Sky happened upon a flyer for an open house at a new cabaret called the Purple Orchid. Thinking that this might be a fun event to go to to make friends, she arrived at the Orchid...only to find out that the event was several days prior. Despite this, she found herself latching onto the new friends she had just made at the Orchid...and made herself comfortable. It was, after all, an 'open house', right? Which meant she could stay there with no issue? Checks out.

After essentially squatting in the Orchid for several days, sleeping on floors and sofas alike, and eating food from their kitchen, she was hired on unceremoniously. Though no one seems to know what to do with her...

		Seselia Selia ✿♫ Seselia was the first friend Sky made at the Purple Orchid, and they immediately hit it off...at least in Sky's mind. Though in Sky's clumsiness, she accidentally stepped on the lalafell's glasses - Seselia was understanding and did not blame Sky for her unintentional actions. Since then, Sky has grown somewhat attached to the lalafellin lass, and is ever eager to help her with whatever she can...though despite her intentions Sky causes more problems than she solves... Lalamune Zazamune ✿♫ Sky met Lalamune Zazamune, or Zazzy as she calls him, shortly after meeting Seselia. While they have not spoken often, she already sees the lad as a dear friend, offering him her special tea to soothe his nerves and vaguely flirting with him.

Stark Horizon ☀✘ Stark, Sky's father, follows a proud family tradition of Sellswords, having raised his children to be much the same. He has disowned Sky due to her pacifist leanings, and blames her for tearing the family unit apart and for all the ill placed on the family since then. Crimson Sea ☀✘ Sea feels similarly to Stark, though where Stark's fury is all passionate anger, hers is a cold malice. As far as she is concerned, Sky is dead. Blazing Sun ☀✞ Blazing Sun was the only one of Sky's immediate family that she ever felt a true bond with, but this changed as Sun grew older and embraced the family's Sellsword legacy. Sadly, Sun and her adventuring party were killed in an expedition to Mor Dhona. Northern Star ☀● Unlike the rest of Sky's family, her second eldest brother does not hold any malice against her...though he does not have any love for her either. He means to let her live her life. Dark Moon ☀✘ Sky's eldest brother, Dark Moon, shares his father's hatred for his little sister. This is not particularly surprising, as he is the immediate heir to his father's business.
