β Reading Not being able to read doesn't deter Khai'to from at least trying. Recognizing a word and what it means is something that makes him feel proud.
β Star-gazing For as long as he can remember, this miqo'te has been fascinated with the stars above. His interest only dived deeper when he found out about constellations. Little brings him as much peace as looking up to the heavens.
β Cooked Food It is difficult for Khai'to to acquire much food in the first place, let only freshly cooked hot-on-the-plate food. It's a rare treat!

β Monetarists During his time in Ul'dah, Khai'to quickly came to learn to fear and resent the Monetarists. These wealthy merchants and their advances are not to be trusted, seeing people like Khai as expendable resources.
β Maths He doesn't understand it beyond basic addition and subtraction - and this bothers him no end.
β Authority Khai'to has found that people in positions of authority, such as city guards, usually look at him with distrust at best. These organisations are also usually where cruel people reside, using their position of authority to get away with violence. It's best to steer well clear of all of them.
Q U I R K S
β Functional Illiteracy Khai'to cannot read very well and cannot write to roughly the same degree. What he can write reveals his handwriting as rough and almost child-like.
β Fortune Telling This miqo'te is very fond of divining the future with his cards, favoring the six Major Arcana for the spread. The meaning of the cards is something he picked up very quickly, utterly fascinated with them and their links to the stars. To top it off, he has an eerie intuitive sense about them. It all comes naturally to him.
β Left Handed Khai is left handed. This only makes his handwriting worse.

MAJOR
Astrology - Khai is a novice and amateur astrologian in every sense of the word, but his fierce determination coupled with his natural inclination to the heavens is a combination setting him up for greater things. Or at least that's what the cards say.
Street Smart - Being poor and homeless in Ul'dah has given the young man the experience and knowledge necessary to deal with the difficulties and dangers of life on the streets.
Resourceful - Within reason, Khai can survive almost anywhere.
MINOR
Medicine - Healing, medicines and even just a visit to the doctor are all expensive. It was infinitely cheaper for Khai to learn things for himself. As a result, he can perform a messy suture on some cuts and knows which local herbs and berries can be used as medicine in a pinch.
Scrappy - Khai is a feisty young miqo'te, his small and nonthreatening nature and appearance belying his ability to defend himself - and defend himself well. He more than compensates for any shortcomings through will, persistence and heart.
Loyalty - Without a doubt, his loyalty to his companions - be they work colleagues, or just friends - forms a key facet of his principles.
DRAWBACKS
Uneducated - He tries his best, he really does, but Khai's lack of education can impede his progress in a lot of aspects of his life.
Poor - The coin-purse this miqo'te carries is usually closer to empty than anything else. Khai'to struggles to fund even the basic necessities of life.
Fears - Khai is quite seriously afraid of losing his freedom. He'll turn down opportunities if he thinks there's any risk it might result in him being enslaved, which usually means refusing the majority of them.

INVENTORY
These are the following items Khai'to carries with him. The information listed below should not be used to meta-game, but do feel free to use it if comes up in RP. I respectfully ask that you send a /tell first if you intend to use it for pickpocketing.
β Cards- A tin box containing a deck of sixty cards. The tin box itself is battered, old and rusty, but the cards are in decent condition.
β BOOK - Khai'to has one book. 'The Heavens Above' - A very battered but thin book explaining the six constellations and how they relate to the Major Arcana.
β MEDICAL SUPPLIES - Rusty tweezers, a pack of some herbs and a little vial or two of clean stream water.
RP LIMITS
I consider myself a flexible player who tends to go with the flow of the RP as long as it's plausible. For some events I prefer to use /random and let RNG take it away, but I also like to talk about it beforehand to ensure things stay reasonable. Thank you for your interest in me!
β DO - From dark and mature themes to the light-hearted and easy-going themes are welcomed, whether they be short or long. Conflicts, friendships, rivalries, violence, and drama are strongly encouraged. I prefer romance to happen organically and Tiergan Vashir said it best, "I do not actively search for RP romances. I really enjoy romantic tension and romantic feelings as a source of conflict for a story, but romance RP itself is not necessarily the main focus of my RP."
β DON'T - Character death is not allowed unless I feel the time is right. Nothing that prevents him from living his life independently is allowed without my consent. Please do not push this, I will ditch the RP if I feel this is being forced.
β ASK - While I am not opposed to any disfigurement (scars, missing limbs, etc) I do ask that we discuss it beforehand as they may have a drastic change or negative impact on my enjoyment of my character. TL;DR if you aren't sure, ask.
