General Information
Myosotis, in his younger years, simply didn't exist in Ishgard one day and appeared the next, young teen in arm and ready to live an honest life... at least that's what Myosotis would want you to believe. Anyone familiar with the rampant gossip of Ishgard would know that stories get you everywhere, and there's a reason why he was accepted into her walls so quickly. He currently works to set up a lounge for those who don't have a place to call home to find comfort in, and has set aside his past and let it rest to move on with his life... hopefully.
A future is not given to you. It is something you must take for yourself.

Hair & Eyes
As a Veena, Myosotis's hair and eyes shift through colours as the seasons change... at least how they do in Othard. During the winter, his hair and fur take on a snow white hue with sparse streaks of reddish-brown and his eyes darken to a coffee-like hue. During the summer, or what could be considered summer in Ishgard, he handles the irritating process of shedding his winter weight and reveals hickory brown hair decorated with signs of his age- grey and white roots and streaks- and his eyes brighten to a hazelnut shade. This process has become ritualistic, and happens no matter how long he's lived in Ishgard's weathers. He keeps a braided lovelock tied with a gold ribbon over his heart that he's taken care of since leaving Othard.
Physique & Markings
His body is fairly humanoid, however his legs are distinctly digitigrade, despite how on first glance it simply looks as if he walks on his toes. His hourglass figure is helped by this, and quite a lot of muscle in his legs has been cultivated with intent, while the top half of his body is kept similarly strong due to consistent use. It's visible to those who look for it that his body was once that of a well-disciplined soldier, and it wouldn't be hard to understand why.
Hygiene & Attire
He takes care of his physical self almost devoutly, taking up to an hour a day on making sure his hair, joints, and other faculties are well maintained. As he gets older, this is a habit he more than intends to keep, and one of the few he claims are his good habits. Due to the consistent low temperatures of Ishgard, and perhaps his own indulgences, he deeply enjoys formless and comfortable outfits. He'll dress up when the event calls for it, however in most other occasions he prefers casual over formal. Quite a few of his outfits are visibly work-worn and loved, and he tends to keep a somewhat monochromatic wardrobe.
Personality
Psychological Profile
In his youth, those who knew him would describe him as a standoff-ish character, though no less witty or accepting for it. He's a blunt man, he never beats around the bush, despite how much some would believe other approaches to certain situations would be better. Despite this, he's incredibly empathetic and generous, unable to turn a blind eye to those who are doing worse than he. He tends to offer advice even when it's not asked for, sometimes even doing things for other people to show them how it's done, being as close to a workaholic as you can get. These traits are quite new, however, something he's gained from being a caretaker of a child. The responsibility's changed him as a person, in both demeanour and personality, for better and worse. With the departure of his child from living under his roof (at least in age), he suffers somewhat from empty nest syndrome.
Voice
While one can hear him laugh, cry, or mimic animal noises, Myosotis is mute and uses exclusively Eorzean Sign Language, having fallen out of practice with Doma's dialect many years ago. Those who have ESL as their native language or are fluent in sign could describe his "signing voice" as drawled and lazy. This causes those new to the language to require clarification on some occasions, however he's more than happy to do so. He uses paper and pen in emergencies, and his handwriting similarly "sounds" like a weather-worn casual of a man. If he had to be assigned a voice, it would be William Houston's performance of Old Hunter Djura.
Philosophy & Mannerisms
Myosotis is, as of recent, quite a fan of the "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all" rule... that is, unless you strike up quippy dialogue with him first, then it's fair game. He has a strict set of morals when it comes to the support of the house and community, quite a lot of it stemming back to the Green Word, despite how much he'll claim to be suffocated by his place in it. He always sticks to his truth, and as such, will never count deception among his sins, no matter the beliefs of others. The man isn't particularly religious, not even for Halone, however he is deeply superstitious. He wears lucky jewelry, keeps a routine to even his mind, even the lovelock shows this habit. Without a voice, he's deeply expressive in his body, comparable to that of a tolerant bear.

I tend to follow the guidelines of DnD 5e's attack orders and such, and I don't actually know how most people roleplay fights in FFXIV, so this will change and drastically.

History
The tales of Myosotis's existence are stark contrasts of one another... that is, if you know which names to look for. Such is the nature of a Viera raised in his prime running from Garlemald's empirical rule, Myosotis is one of many names, titles, and epithets assigned to the existence of the man. Circumstance kept him in one place, and now he tends to stay in that spot, cured of his wanderlust and early convictions with the presence of a mouth to feed at home... even if only for a few years.
Disclaimer: The true identity of the Snowdrift Dragoon, especially with the new populations of Viera, is under heavy debate in the spaces he comes up in. Unless we talk beforehand or your character naturally learns that he is Myosotis, even the existence of the character of the Snowdrift Dragoon should only be hearsay to anyone outside of Ishgardian background.
Sixth Astral Era - Othard
Leaving the Nest
1509 - Birkir Arda is born in the Arda township in the Skatay Range as the daughter of a notable hunting woman, named later in life for resembling birch trees in hair and fur during winter.

1523 - Birkir, at the start of puberty, quickly expresses his discomfort and unrest about his identity as a woman in Viera society, and the way his body is changing. He comes to the realization that he'd rather be a man.

1524 - Birkir gets sent with the Wood Warders at the earliest convenience to ensure his quick transition in societal hierarchy, unfortunately at the height of attempts to assimilate the Vieran townships into Othard's Garlean rule. He is, as a result, taught ruthless tactics to protect himself and his people, taking advantage of the height of the tall trees at the bottom of the mountain range.

1529 - Being lulled into Dalmasca with promises of new knowledge and experiences after multiple years of silence in his seclusion, Birkir changes his name to his favourite flower, Myosotis, Forget-Me-Nots, and leaves his post to explore and cultivate his wanderlust.

Sixth Astral Era - Eorzea
Safety in Seclusion
1557 - Myosotis manages to escape to Eorzea on a ship from Doma carrying other refugees and immediately flees to Coerthas.

1558 - Myosotis moves to find a permanent settlement in the Convictory, quickly being shunned and redirected. He manages to steal a lance from their storage before making off to live nomadically.

Draconic Quarry
1560 - Word of a juvenile dragon by the name Sohm Fhail and their hunting of easy Tailfeather resident and Vath prey catches Myosotis's attention. Seeing the shadow of the dragon at night passing over Coerthan grounds solidifies Myosotis's determination and Sohm Fhail becomes his mark.

1565 - Sohm Fhail targets the settlement of Pinenest and aims to take the lives of the entire settlement. Myosotis tracks Sohm Fhail and engages in battle with them, Sohm Fhail being killed by a fatal blow to the spine after an arduous conflict. Pinenest is completely levelled and Myosotis does not find any survivors aside from a young Seeker Miqo'te teen named X'solraa Tia. Myosotis, in a fit of guilt, takes the child under his wing. He takes the horns and jaw of Sohm Fhail to Ishgard and presents them to plead a case for formal Dragoon training, and after a physical briefing, is accepted into their ranks.

1567 - A survivor of the destruction of Pinenest by the name of X'rahz Tia tracks Myosotis, claiming to be closely related to X'solraa, asking for him to be returned to his people. Myosotis, after noticing how reclusive X'solraa becomes at his presence, refuses and intimidates X'rahz into giving up and leaving empty-handed. Myosotis becomes deeply protective of X'solraa from this point on.

The Snowdrift Dragoon
1568 - Myosotis begins to grow more and more absent from training sessions, and seen more out on the field than in Ishgard. Extremely reclusive to begin with, Temple Knights away from Ishgard begin to speak quietly of a ghostly hare-like Dragoon titled the Snowdrift Dragoon as a means of lifting their spirits.

1570 - The Snowdrift Dragoon's many fictional and non-fictional exploits reach Ishgard, and as soon as they are used as an example for Dragoon trainees, Myosotis is relieved of his training duties and ready to devote himself full-time to his purpose. During this, X'solraa starts working full-time at the Skysteel Manufactory and leaves their shared household empty, solidifying his existence as a dragoon faint in Ishgard's walls, and fueling the stories of the Snowdrift Dragoon to reach their peak.

1572 - The rise of the Garlean Empire's Project Meteor leads Myosotis- and in turn the Snowdrift Dragoon- to go into hiding with X'solraa for their safety.

In Recent Times - Seventh Umbral Era
Moving Forward
Year 0 - Myosotis watches the events of the Seventh Umbral Calamity occur while keeping X'solraa safe from the harshest of Ishgard's impact. In response, he picks up the Gunblade and teaches himself the art of Gunbreaking, no matter how botched it initially is, to have a more stable way of protecting his son. He finally resolves to lock away his Drachen Mail and lance as a statement against Ishgard's silence and estrangement from the Eorzean Alliance.

Year 1 - Myosotis fumbles with coping with Coerthas's harsh climate change, while X'solraa takes on the Mechanist profession to provide for the family. Myosotis grows lonely without X'solraa's company.

Year 2 - Myosotis grows fond of the innkeeping profession after haunting the Forgotten Knight to take his mind off X'solraa's absence, and starts investing in starting one of his own.

Family
X'solraa Tia (PC - Coeurl)
/ N/A / Adoptive child
The life of a Dragoon is hard, being raised by one even harder. Even if initial grievances faded and X'Solraa has moved on from living full-time in his home, Myosotis still feels as if he needs to take care of the engineer, even if it's just to make up for what he had been too slow to prevent in their kithood.
Acquaintances
Former Acquaintances
X'rahz Tia (NPC)
 / Pinenest Survivor
Hardly seen anymore by Myosotis, he grows increasingly anxious about the next time he will end up seeing him. Despite finding comfort in more lives spared Sohm Fhail's judgement, the fact that he unnerves X'solraa concerns him deeply. He'd commit crimes to keep them away from each other.
Deceased
Sohm Fhail (NPC)
✝ / Draconic Quarry
The beast that haunts Myosotis to this day, Sohm Fhail was the first dragon Myosotis hunted, the key to his title as the Snowdrift Dragoon. At the killing blow, Myosotis heard their voice scream for their name to be remembered by all of Ishgard's people... He hasn't said a word about it, even in the new age of Ishgard's Republic.

Rumors
NPC Rumors

Some of these rumors are untrue, speculation, or are greatly exaggerated.

◢ Common Rumors - Easily overheard. Use these freely!
"That Beauhiver man? I couldn't tell you where he came from. The name's Elezen, but he just showed up out of nowhere with a child that looked like she'd seen Nidhogg himself. He's got no family here other than her." — Forgotten Knight Regular (Ishgard - The Forgotten Knight).
"I always try to find wherever he works so I can get more of his food. It's food for the soul, I'll tell you that much." — War-worn Elezen (Ishgard - The Pillars).
◢ Uncommon Rumors - A little more difficult to hear. Use sparingly or ask first!
"I always see him look away when the Snowdrift Dragoon hits ears. Doesn't seem like he's very fond of the story. I wouldn't be either, if I were in training while it was at its peak." — Retired Temple Knight (Ishgard - The Pillars).
◢ Rare Rumors - Very rarely overheard. Please ask before using!
"No dragoon survives as long as he has without hearing their voices. What else would he have been doing when he went absent during training?" — Veteran Temple Knight (Ishgard - Foundation).
"I've yet to hear it myself, but if you go far enough in Dravania, supposedly you can hear the ghost of the Snowdrift Dragoon singing in the wind." — Chocobo Handler (Tailfeather).

Location & Probability
Frequent places Myosotis haunts.
The Forgotten Knight: Often - As a place to relax and support peers in his field of interest, he can be found dulling his senses and indulging in the rowdy peace of the bar-inn.
Affiliations
Most of these aren’t public, and would have to be asked after!
Temple Knights: He's a veteran, he'll speak of that much on his own. Many older veterans claim to know someone of his silhouette, though not of his demeanour.
Kitsune Star: While not intimately involved in their exploits, the employees of the adventuring lounge are his acquaintances, and their problems- if they allow such- are his problems.
IC Inventory
Trinkets and the essentials Myosotis carries with him whenever he leaves home. Not to be used for meta-gaming, but an insight to his person. Feel free to use this if it comes up (pickpocketing, a search, etc) by mentioning it in a /tell. This is a work in progress and will be updated and changed without warning.

Glio coinpurse.png Glio journal.png Glio rations.png

Coinpurse: A simple coin purse made of soft leather, containing a few hundred gil.
Notepad: A well-loved leather journal with straps for replacing blanks when full. Used as a means of communication when others involved don't know ESL.
Ration Box: A meticulously wrapped package of filling snacks, meant to keep Myosotis from growing fatigued and maintain his figure. A tiny note from X'solraa is stuck under its twine.
RP Limits
I'm generally more inclined to work on RPs that solidify Myosotis's character than simple one-offs, but that doesn't mean I won't enjoy them! I'm quite new to FFXIV RP, but certainly not other places (most notably Warframe and Soulsborne), so I've got a bit of experience under my belt. I'm in the US and work on EST, tending to be on at sporadic hours, though more consistently closer to 4-6 PM.
I will play explorative horror, mysteries, or simple hang-out things. I don't have a lot of restrictions. It'd be better to look at what I wouldn't do.
Ask about roleplay to establish a pre-existing connection between our characters, or long-term scenarios. These are awesome to me, though I would like to know what I'm getting into first.
I won't play out most abusive scenarios and heavily pre-planned romances for Myosotis, especially if the end goal is 18+. Myosotis is not the best person to ask to teach your character sign language, and he will redirect your character if they ask. If you wish to cause long-term issues for Myosotis, let me know and we can talk about it! I also don't RP on any platforms other than FFXIV and Discord.
RP Hooks
While the below is by no means comprehensive, it's a kind of spring board for walk-up RP. Longer plots that are meant to run for more than a few quick RP's, please feel free to send me a tell so we can work out a good reason for our characters to get to know one another. I'm always looking to indulge in RP, unless I'm in a party or obviously pre-occupied.
You're in need of protection. Myosotis is large, impressively large for a Viera, and looks as if he can pull a mean glare.
You want some gossip. Like any good Ishgardian, he's aught to have stories to tell.
You recognize him from somewhere other than Ishgard. Have a reason for this and send me a /tell!
Those ears are familiar. While Myosotis has done well to hide his past, some grow curious and have their ears in the right circles. Send me a /tell and we'll figure something out!
A comrade in arms. If you're a veteran or a senior member of the Temple Knights, chances are you've seen him in much younger years filing toward the Dragoon training grounds. Myosotis is always willing to reminisce with a fellow Temple Knight, especially to trash-talk the Heaven's Ward.
Heretical Habits. Some of the trinkets on his person don't seem to line up well with Halone's image, and casts doubt on his devotion.
You know X'solraa. If you've gathered rapport with X'solraa, chances are you know who Myosotis is, and he knows about you... at least, as much as X'solraa decided to share with him.

OOC Notes
Player Information
Player Note
There is a lot of information on this character wiki, but it is by no means completely comprehensive. There are chunks of backstory that are left intentionally vague so that details can be later added as developed through creative writing or in role-play revelation. Feel free to use Common or Uncommon rumors freely, if you want to use a Rare Rumor as a plot hook or to spark RP, I would ask that you send me a tell first, to make certain it's alright.
Character Lore Adherence
Everything concerning this character that has not been confirmed by in-game lore should be taken with a grain of salt. Anything that has had to be changed because of lore shifting will be noted below.
■ While Viera in FFXIV have exclusively human legs, Myosotis is lore-bending in the sense that his legs more closely resemble Viera of FFXII, though still slightly more digitigrade. This detail is important for quite a few of his physical capabilities.
Character Concept
Original concept being the "secret identity superhero" trope turned into an old, grizzled father figure, Myosotis has had quite a few media influences and grew from consistent back-and-forth in planning and collaboration.

Tropes & Explanations
A trope is a convention or device that is often found in creative works. In this case, the tropes below describe my character either in part, or as a whole. Their background, personality, appearance, etc, most of them can be described in the tropes below.
Papa Wolf
Overprotective Dad
Friend to All Children
Retired Badass
Hidden Depths
The Atoner
Brutal Honesty
Give Him a Normal Life
Tropes are devices and conventions that a writer can reasonably rely on as being present in the audience members' minds and expectations. On the whole, tropes are not clichés.
