Appearance

Nanama's original armor and hairstyle

Similarly to other Au Ra women, Nanama's stature and body mass is disproportionate. As she is 4 foot, 5 inches, she is much shorter compared to the height of most short female Au Ra, being 4 feet, 7 inches. Her long tail comes close to touching the ground by only two feet, and is capable of wrapping itself around the waists. Thanks to the hat she would don, as well as her attire, her skin stays a regular flesh tone, despite having made some of her travels on foot and under the sun's rays. Her eyes, including her hair, are blue, which is often kept to be in a short and clean fashion. She sometimes lets her hair grow more, but prefers to have it tied in some fashion.

Nanama is often seen wearing a black jacket that is long enough to pass her pelvic region. The jacket appears to share the resemblance of the company tabard, which are regularly worn by the OIC personnel affiliated with each of Eorzea's main city-states--Ul'dah, Gridania, and Limsa Lominsa. She can be seen wearing pairs of both black slacks and gaiters also, along with it. The accessory most prominent on Nanama's person, is the void blue flat cap she always wears. No matter the type of situation she is involved in, Nanama is always wearing it on her head. Occasionally, she will remove it to fix the top of her hair, should she feel it become untidy, but rarely does the headwear not have a presence atop her head. Throughout her investigations, she tends to wear other articles of clothing that are more suitable for fieldwork and/or instances for potential combat, and some would be accompanied by the cap.

Post-Provolone

Nanama sometime after the Provolone case. Her hair is longer and her jacket is worn for detective work

Nanama's appearance has significantly changed. Her blue hair now tends to be partially dyed a platinum blonde color at her bangs and at the end of her lexen-tail, which has grown past her shoulders and reaching the small of her back. She now chooses to keep her hair longer, due to being more confident she could maintain it well. Her physique is alot more built and toned from her past experiences and her own rigorous training. Nanama's body now has scars, and they are varied. She has three scars from gun wounds -- two on her abdomen with one being self inflicted, and the other on her right leg's front. Her body has a few other scars from multiple spiked impalements. One time, she could have had another scar that was large, on her back from a fireball, but she was healed in a way that prevented any scar tissue from being present. She no longer dons her treasured blue cap that was always worn, opting to keep it as a memento. Nanama doesn't think she needs it worn anymore. She now regularly wears more armor when out in public, from her ink blue Shire gear accompanied by her equally colored dreadwyrm champeau, to her snow white jacket with the Scion Traveler's gloves and boots. When she's out and about with not much to do, she wears the white Scion Adventurer's jacket, combined with the Manderville bottoms and black buckled shoes. She often carries around her mortar on her person when in this outfit, as it is small enough to easily conceal(and not ruin her fashion sense). Later, she stops dyeing her hair and just leaves it as normal, while having it flowing freely and not tied.

Post-Journey

Nanama's appearance near the end of and after her soul-search

After her month long soul-search across Hyaedlyn and the First, Nanama changes her appearance once more. Her hair becomes much shorter, and swept back. When travelling, she puts on a green and dark brown iridescent acton with black gloves, and she wears long leggings in her Dhamelsjun thighboots. Besides this look, she will wear shadow blue coveralls with black boots and gloves, along with a hard leather choker around her neck. This attire is used more for her goldsmithing, as well as her aid in the Ishgard Restoration project. Her casual attire is a dark blue coat with Ishgardian longboots, and she now tends to wear her old cap as a accessory. Eventually, she turns to engineering as a new pursuit, and she wears a red rebel coat with a red beret regularly.

History

Early Life/Pre-Calamity

For the majority of her life in the East, Nanama had lived her childhood within the port town Kugane, that is on the island chain of Hingashi-- a Far Eastern nation with a strict isolationist policy, under the Shogunate. Being a Xaela, it is apparent that she was originally from a tribe that is, or had, resided at the Azim Steppe, along with the other tribes. Rumor has it, that Nanama managed to wander away from her respective tribe, as a baby, and thus was picked up by a resident of Kugane and nurtured. A male Roegadyn brought the defenseless, lost Xaela over to the islands and away from the dangers of Doma's wilds, raising her like his very own daughter.

Post-Calamity

After the start of the Calamity in the West in Eorzea, Nanama was still in Hingashi, under the care and guidance of her adoptive Roegadyn father, Abarklin. By the time the catastrophic event made it's place in Eorzean history, she was fourteen(14). As she grew more, and slowly learned more about Hingan customs, she began to question herself. Over time, Nanama had the impression that she didn't exactly belong in Kugane. This was never vocally expressed by Nanama herself, but her surrogate father ensured her, home is what people make of it and she has a place in it, as much as anyone else.

It was after turning into a girl of seventeen(17) summers, Nanama finds herself nursing the man, who had fallen ill. The sickness being so severe, conventional medicines and treatments barely showed any effect to help ease his state. As time went on without a cure, Nanama needed to take the initiative. With the concern for money, she looked into many jobs that could be available for someone of her age. The tasks she took mostly consisted of her providing services to the town's inhabitants or foreigners, or simply cleaning up a shop. Opening up to people for the sake of looking after her caregiver was a challenge, as she found him to be the only person she could fully open up to. She rarely, if ever, socialized with any other people her age, because she had a solitary lifestyle and stuck by Abarklin's side all the time. Despite doing everything in her power to make it certain Abarklin gets better, his health began to continuously wane. He would now spend the rest of his time resting either on a couch or in bed, and when he does use the energy to move it's to try getting his strength, but his efforts would be fruitless. While in bed, he would be read books by Nanama, and in turn he would share stories with her about his life and family. There was one part of his stories that trigger a spark of interest in her; his own father was once a detective, and he had a strong admiration for the man, as well as his occupation.

During one of their talks after a long day, her father gives her the truth of her origins. He states that she did, in fact, originate from a Xaela tribe, known as the Kha. The Kha are the tribe of Xaela, who live on the fringes of the Xaela lands, actively seeking contact with people not of Auri culture. They introduce the many aspects of the other cultures they discover into their own, and are more open-minded about the outside world, unlike most of the others. The tales of a missing child of the Kha, had been passed around for sometime, thus giving her surrogate the inkling feeling she is from said tribe. Although he considers the possibility of Nanama being one of them, he couldn't bring himself to return her to her rightful parents, should they still be alive. For years, he had been overcome with severe loneliness. Unlike Nanama, he did manage to accumulate a variety of friends in his past, but soon the relations slowly drifted apart, leaving him to be on his own. Once Nanama came into his life, he finally found someone who could stay by his side again, and who could give him a brand new purpose, which is being a father. Even though Nanama now has knowledge of her true origins, as well as some closure, her love for her father exceeded her want to meet her tribe.

After many moons, heartfelt talks, and loving good nights, the man who brought her up ended up deceased the next morning. However, his death wasn't reported until the following day, as Nanama desired to be alone with his body and mourn as much as she wanted. Sooner or later, she was now on her own, and had Abarklin's ashes kept. After turning eighteen(18), Nanama desired to honor Abarklin, by donning his dad's detective cap and actively going out to become a investigator. Her very first case started within Kugane, and during it, she had trouble being taken seriously. Her childlike appearance did not help her to convince people of her serious intent, but soon she succeeded, rightfully earning her a metaphorical pat on the back from the Sekiseigumi. Later on, after Doma was liberated by the Resistance and the Warrior of Light, Nanama ventures away from home and travels overseas to the West, to see if she can use her inquisitiveness for the sole purpose of bringing justice. Over time, she had solved other cases in Eorzea, and her reputation slowly grew.

Currently, Nanama is twenty(20) years old, and a mother of three half-bred children.

Bandits & Beetles (The Provolone Case) - (12/17/18)

During the Starlight Celebration, Nanama had arrived to Ul'dah. After a couple of days sticking around the city-state, she overheard three people discussing a missing person. One of them, Nikolas Quinn, happened to be the adoptive father of the person of interest. He said his daughter, Marolyn, had been taken away by her violent caretaker and is most likely in danger. Nanama volunteered to conduct a search for the girl, alongside a Raen named Ganon Shosen, who temporarily became partners with Nanama. After not getting anywhere with inquires, Nanama got approached by a general of Ishgard named Vanitas Law, who tended to stick around Ul'dah near or at the Quicksand. Nanama told him the case she's on and the Dragoon offers to help by being her eyes. She accepted the help, and not long after, Vanitas managed to locate Marolyn Quinn, including her caretaker, in the streets of Ul'dah. It turned out Marolyn and her caretaker Lyn, are a Keeper and Xaela, and they are actually the victims. Nanama soon got introduced to a 'hunter for hire' named Lederic Haragin, who was actually a member of the 'Eorzean Bureau of Intervention'. Nanama is told by the group that what Nikolas said was a ruse, and he's not only a cheese entrepreneur, but also secretly a leader of a giant slave trade that has spanned across Eorzea for many years. Nanama offered her help to take down Nikolas (AKA Mr. Provolone). She got acquainted with Lederic, Marolyn, and Lyn, as well as Precis Transvaal (who is now named Perceval Greystone and becomes Nanama's future lover) and Mikha Namaliyo (who leaves the group later on and is viewed as a sister by Nanama). The group's plan to take down Nikolas' slave operation went on for several months, with both successes and blunders. Nanama learned more about herself during the case, both good and bad. The Provolone case became Nanama's first real taste of reality and made her realize that some things, no matter how cruel, must be done for the greater good. During the long road to stop Nikolas and the other slavers, she was traumatized, somber, treated with apathy for any mistakes, and was jaded. The experience had nearly costed her her life, as well as her humanity. It costed the life of one of Lederic's associates from the bureau, and nearly Lederic himself.

Defeated a Griffin in Coerthas - (2/26/19)

In a effort to improve her combat skills and be tougher, Nanama had set out to Coerthas' western highlands for several days on her own; enduring the harsh weather and the snowy wasteland's numerous wildlife and creatures. During her stay, she had encountered a Griffin that came from the Sea of Clouds, and successfully managed to put it down after it turned hostile towards her. An unexpected turn on events, but it gives Nanama some confidence.

Nanama Begins Swordsman Training- (5/2/19)

The dangers in the Provolone case have gotten more and more dangerous, and thus the time called to be more prepared. Nanama decided to take on learning more than just knowing how to fire a gun, and turns her sights on the art of the samurai. This will be the start of her path to adding a larger variety of weapons and skills to her arsenal in the future.

Sincerely, Your Shadow (Father Arc) - (6/25/19)

Eventually, it is revealed that Nanama's biological father, Oktai Kha, had shadowed her during her time spent in Eorzea. He had anonymously mailed her money, kept tabs on almost every person she had connections with, and has saved her life by being active behind the scenes. For example, the griffin Nanama had thought she defeated on her own, was truthfully dealt with mostly by Oktai from the shadows, with his ninjitsu and weaponry. Also, she was saved from dying from gun wounds by Mangle Gorgon, because Oktai tipped civilians of her predicament. The situation further escalated when he breaks into Nanama's office to steal Abarklin's ashes.

After going through most of the trials set up by Oktai, Nanama got back Abarklin's ashes with the help of Perceval and Tae. However, Perceval was instructed to meet Oktai in Coerthas' western highlands, alone. Once the two meet, Oktai gives Perceval a explanation to the point of the trials, including what transpired when Nanama went missing as a baby. Back then, while Oktai was away from his tribe to travel around Othard, Nanama's mother(Chinua Kha) fell asleep during a ride back to the tribe through Doma, unaware of Nanama accidentally falling off and lost, before later being stumbled on by Abarklin. Once Oktai returned to the tribe and knew of his daughter's absence, he became depressed and angry. These feelings were more against himself, as he blamed himself for not being there with his family. His mate, both ashamed and taking Oktai's misery to be directed at her for losing their child, takes her own life the next day. This causes him to leave the Kha soon after. Decades pass, and Oktai finds Nanama, after hearing word of a Xaela detective around Gridania. He then dedicated his time, resources and skills to ensure her safety. After Perceval hears Oktai out, he is challenged by the Kha to fight, with the condition that if Perceval wins, he gets to stay with Nanama. Oktai also promises that if he himself loses, he'll turn himself in to the Brass Blades for theft and breaking into Nanama's office. The two battled atop The Watcher, a large cliff overlooking the highlands. The fight was bloody and exhausting, lasting for over half a hour. Eventually, Perceval is made victorious, with both him and Oktai barely conscious. Oktai keeps his promise and heads back to Ul'dah to be taken into custody.

Bandits & Beetles (Post-Provolone) - (7/16/19)

Nanama and her group were able to track down Nikolas Quinn(AKA Provolone and father of Marolyn Quinn) in Coerthas' central highlands, after several months of dismantling his giant slave operation across the many regions of Eorzea. Once Nikolas was subdued and apprehended by the Ishgardians, most of the group went their seperate ways. For example, Lederic was in need of recovery, but mysteriously vanished, and Marolyn goes away to the steppe. Nanama spreads Abarklin's ashes in Kugane, with one final goodbye.

A new chapter begins.

Hope for the Future (Aya Arc) - (8/7/19-1/12/20)

A mysterious woman had made her appearance in Ul'dah, lost, confused, and in distress. Not only is the stranger new to the "city made of gold", but her appearance raises questions from any able to get a closer look. The woman, having clear traits of the Au'ri Xaela, has less scales than anyone of the race normally has.

The girl's name is Aya, and her disorderly and tense behavior around people is due to her originating from the future. A time traveler. However, it is not yet certain if her home resides in the distant future of today, or in an alternate history. Another revelation is Aya is one of three offspring of Nanama Kha and Pyrcel (who is a Elezen), which explains her small number of scales. She did her best to hide the information around the younger version of her father, as well as other people Nanama is affiliated with, but an argument with him triggered an outburst, revealing her identity. Aya's reason for exisiting in the here and now, is the result of her being forced by one of her brothers into unknown Allagan Technology, to escape harm's way. The threat Aya faces in her time is currently unknown.

After Aya explores present-day Eorzea for some time, Nanama soon learns of Aya's true identity, which makes her elated and throws away any previous suspicions the Xaela had on the half-breed. A few plans are thought of to help Aya return to her time, with each more complex than the last. One is a 'time machine' being developed and tested with Allagan tech from scratch, while another involves looking to the goblins of Idyllshire and finding a answer in none other, than the primal Alexander.

It is decided that Aya would return to her time, with the method of using Alexander. As preparations are made, Aya in the meantime trains and grows closer to some of the people she once knew, including developing a interest in Jay (to Nanama and Pyrcel's dismay). Eventually, Aya gets confronted by Sami, who chooses to be anonymous. During the fight, Aya is aided by Pyrcel to drive her off, however Sami causes a cave in and escapes. After regaining their bearings, Aya and Pyrcel continue with their goal, with the man telling her he will get her home alone if he has to.

Aya takes up training with the guidance of Rahlera Dortharl, a woman having been close with Nanama and was the young halfbreed's teacher in her own timeline. Aya was not able to fully comprehend using her Darkside to serve as her ally, at first. Out of grief for those she lost and the want to see her allies again after being trapped in history, Aya finally managed bring out her shadow, and her pain and sorrow had become a manifestation for all to bear witness to. Perhaps, she is now strong enough to combat the forces who were deadly enough to warrant the woman being unknowingly thrown back in time for her protection. She thanks her old instructor and continues on with her last task: going home.

Nanama's Nameday - (8/14/19)

Nanama's nameday had arrived, and she had turned into a young woman of twenty summers. While she hasn't really cared for this particular day, it has bothered her that this one was less than stellar at first. To help celebrate the occasion, a half-breed the Kha knows by the name Serenity had given her a cake--except it was decorated with the name of another. This annoys Nanama, and she returned to the East, where Pyrcel's apartment was. The man, aware of the woman's special day, presents her with a gift or two from him, as well as a appropriate cake to celebrate with. Nanama was both grateful and elated, and chose to pay him back in some fashion...

...The two had a long night together.

Nanama is Pregnant - (8/16/19)

Almost two weeks after her nameday, Nanama, including Pyrcel, were given the news by a friend of theirs named Aulex, who is not only a doctor but half-voidsent, that the blue-haired detective was pregnant with three children. He was able to tell from seeing multiple sources of aether within her. The couple were both utterly surprised by the news, with Pyrcel blacking out with a smile across his face. Their lives will never be the same again.

Nanama's Soul-Search - (10/6/19-11/14/19)

Nanama made the mistake of letting a raen friend of hers by the name Tae, get too close to her. She tells both her and Pyrcel that she loved them both equally, and wanted tension between the two to diminish by practicing polygamy. However, the man was not fond of the idea. In Tae's absence, Nanama and him argued for days; both becoming broken in the end. Sooner or later, Aulex lectures and scolds her, causing her to fall into a deeper depression and in tears. Pyrcel still offers to comfort her despite what happened, and Nanama agonizingly says that she should have went away on a trip right after the Provolone case, so their situation never happened. Eventually, Pyrcel talked to Nanama in her office about the decision to stay with him or not, including who would take their kids in the end. Both felt incredibly dead inside from the recent events. Nanama's guilt overwhelmed her, and she makes the choice to stay away from Pyrcel for a while, and go do what she wanted to do in the first place, which was going on a soul-search. She is given luck by Tae and Serenity, and goes out into the world alone, once again.

Over the course of a moon, Nanama travels across Aldenard and Othard, in search of a answer to her crisis, while trying to take care of herself for her kids. It didn't completely stop her from offering aid to people, whether they human or beastmen. She still felt borderline depressed throughout the journey, but kept her face up as best as she could. Deep down, she still wanted to be with Pyrcel.

After her soul-searching ended, the two came to the decision to give their relationship one more try, and attempt to mend the damage that was made.

Demi-Bahamut Discovered - (11/7/19)

Nanama gets her hands on a peculiar grimoire during her journey in search of a answer for her relationship. Fueled by interest and curiosity, she keeps it with her. It appeared to be more powerful than the grimoire she had used for a while, and she intended on adding it to her arsenal if it meant the three kids within her are safer. What she did not expect, was the grimoire to possess equations that had the power to summon a likeness to the Great Wyrm of the Calamity itself, Bahamut. She mulled over the danger of keeping such a thing with her, and tried to think of the reason for her not being tempered by the beast. This went on for sometime, until Nanama felt slightly adjusted to how the summon worked: It was a force of nature, at the great cost of her aether, and could damage the development of her babies. It would have to be used when absolutely necessary and with no other choice. She didn't intend on telling anyone about it...

Nanama goes to the First - (11/21/19)

When Nanama is told by Rahlera about the sightings of a sin eater being around, she was puzzled and her curiosity got the better of her. She took time to gain info on where exactly the sin eater came from, and learns that it was from the First; a alternate star both similar, but different. Preparations and precautions got made, with Nanama finding out a way to enter this new plane of existence. Apparently, there was a very small tear in the Stream, which was created when the Warrior of Light had first traveled to the First. A gateway for the woman to use. Only the issues would be many attempts to try teleporting to the First, and being able to return to the Source. Nanama succeeds in entering the newly discovered star, and arrives in Norvrandt's Lakeland. The trip sends her in the walls of Laxan Loft, a castle filled with nothing but hostile Elven knights impossible to reason with. She makes it out, safely sneaking past them, and sees another Crystal Tower in the distance. Once she makes it there finally, she looks around with interest and worry, hoping she can find help to send her back home. When the tour of the large settlement's done and it's aetheryte is attuned with, she tries sending herself back to Eorzea by teleport, and was successful. It would be a long time, before she makes another trip there again.

Nanama learns about Engineering - (12/12/2019)

A Cry for Help - (12/20/19 - 12/25/19)

During the Starlight Celebration, Nanama is contacted by an old friend in the Twin Adder about a tragedy that had occured. A death within the Lily Hills apartments had been reported earlier that day. To her surprise and misfortune, the victim was someone she had known about before, in a past case a few months earlier: Nao Heizu, a veteran adventurer who was missing once and later found, was now found dead inside his apartment. With the assistance of a doctor, Ruri Ashdale, she travels to the Black Shroud to investigate. During their time at the crime scene, the two were not able to see the body of Nao, but were left to their own devices, gathering evidence. A still filled tub of contaminated bathwater, liquor bottles in a messy bedroom, and a note in said room, sheds more light on what happened. Nao Heizu, wrought with depression and loneliness, took his own life by drowning. An autopsy of the body, and a testimony from Nao's best friend Ani, were needed to fully come to the supposed conclusion.

Nanama manages to get her hands on some investigation files, around the body's condition and the evidence found around the apartment. There was speculation from Rahlera, that Nao was murdered and there was a cover-up made by the Adder themselves, including the files having been tampered with. Nanama thought it was very unllikely, but didn't completely rule out the possibility. The discussion about the case ends with a plan to retrieve Nao's undiscovered linkpearl from his apartment, and get in contact with anyone else the man had associated himself with, for suspects of a potential murder case. Both the body and Ani, needed to be found.

Nanama found the linkpearl in Nao's place, but none of his contacts ended up being suspects. Sooner or later, Ani is found by Ruri, and she tells where she was and what she had done at the time of Nao's death. Just like her friend, she was also a monk who was training around Gyr Abania and Rhalgr's Reach. The last time she saw Nao, he wasn't in a healthy state of mind due to the sense of loneliness, as well as failed relationship months prior. Ani tried lifting his spirits for the holidays, but nothing was working. She left him to give him time to himself for a while, believing he'd be fine. After a couple of failed calls to him days later, she gets inside his locked apartment to discover Nao, dead in the bathtub, to her horror and heartbreak. The doctor and Seeker have a heart-to-heart, and Ani says she'd go speak to Nanama about everything. The next day, Nanama and Ani meet up and discuss the case. The Miqo'te retells was shared with Ruri, and Nanama says she was able to take a look at Nao's corpse, which was under the attention of the Twin Adder. She confirmed that Nao did in fact take his own life, and no one was responsible for man's unfortunate demise. At the moment, the case was closed. Nanama gives Ruri her thanks with the investigation through mail. Meanwhile, Ani plans to put Nao to rest by having him buried, and finally comes to terms with the painful reality. She says to herself she will keep her best friend close to her heart and will focus on who he was in life, instead of what led to his death and the guilt of not being there for him more. She loved him, and he loved her. As long as Ani lives, so too will a small part of Nao.

Nanama Births Triplets (Yiselle, Ardoux, and Halmric) - (2/9/20)

Nanama Becomes a Adventurer - (3/14/20)

After having an argument with a drunk Pyrcel moons before on how she manages her detective work, Nanama becomes discouraged and loses the drive to continue it. She puts the occupation of a private investigator to rest. The Xaela tries looking around for weeks and moons for anything the skills she accumulated would be suitable for. Her searching stops when it dawned on her that she tended to get into combat and wander the land a lot. Adventurers have traveled across Eorzea to fulfill tasks. Thus, Nanama had made the choice to seek employment from the Quicksand as an adventurer herself.

A better career path?

Auspice (wolf) Encountered - (5/23/20)

Currently...

Nanama takes jobs from the Adventurer's guild while supporting her three kids with her husband, Pyrcel, while gathering information on a auspice in the Shroud.

Personality

As a individual, Nanama Kha is an determined, inquisitive and kind-hearted young woman who tends to mostly become guarded with her emotions. Her passion to inquire came as a result of her adoptive Roegadyn father's shared history involving his own father, who in life was a detective in the Far East. After her caregiver's passing, Nanama took it upon herself to follow in the footsteps of his parent. This honorable action gives her a sense of purpose, a way to pay tribute, and the desire to aid others. When investigating, she tries putting on a serious demeanor. Due to instances in the past when her younger appearance didn't allow her to be taken seriously, she wears orderly attire and adopts a professional attitude to let others know she is devoted.

Even though Nanama is serious about her occupation as a private investigator/inspector, she is more than capable showing her warm side. She tends to go out of her own way to offer her generosity and kindness to individuals, be it handing them a sum of gil or a gift, or being a person willing to give wanted attention. Her good-natured behavior can be seen as an admiration to others, to her own embarrassment.

A fault she still struggles with, is not having enough strength to properly control or convey her true feelings to people who she grows some form of connection with. Due to her solitary life in Kugane and growing up with little to no interactions with those of or near her age, she has trouble emotionally opening up. People she associates with use this as a way to playfully tease, or flirt with her, which subjects Nanama to a vulnerable, flustered and distracted state. This issue had became more prominent during her current investigation to sabotage a slave operation around Eorzea, as her closeness with some allies reveal this embarrassed side. These new experiences of emotional attachment to people can hinder her from making good calls of judgement and potentially put her or others in danger. She is also highly vulnerable to self-doubt and self-punishment when she feels whatever misfortune or unfairness happens to someone else. This can lead to her falling into a state of depression for days, while lowering her self-esteem to dangerous levels.

Nanama tends to push herself to try to be the best she can be in order for the sake of clarity, however, it can negatively effect her mental health. She puts on a strong, no-nonsense attitude to show people she is capable in any given situation and to appear as someone worth being relied on. While it works with most people, it's a rare occurrence when someone can see through the mask she puts on. A mask that can chip and crack, revealing the self-loathing and depressed woman underneath.

Combat

As her primary method of attacking and defense, Nanama has always used the deceivingly small, yet strong, silver Makai Hand Mortar. Within the first year of her occupation as a inspector, and 3-4 months after arriving to Eorzea from Othard from the Far East, Nanama had picked up this weapon from a merchant in the Shroud during one of her past times in Gridania.

How a merchant managed to get a hold of this firearm, if it belonged to a previous owner, the owner's identity, and if they lost or intentionally got rid of it, are still a mystery up for debate. However, Nanama has used it with care throughtout her years, and hopes that maybe one day she could return the weapon to it's past owner, who was possibly a machinist.

Nanama doesn't make it a regular habit of ever using it, unless of course she feels that her or the safety of others are in danger. She never has truly used the Makai Hand Mortar to neutralize a living person, and one time during her current investigation, when she opted to take it out, she was unable to fire a shot--a idea that if she ever shot first and potentially killed the opponent, she, as a investigator, would be a murderer. Eventually, she swaps out the mortar in favor of her current weapon, Blue Steel, which is a much bigger and more power gun that she once found in Coerthas, for machinists.

Besides the firearms, she also has a variety of autoturrets at her disposal, handed over to her by the Machinists Guild in Ishgard. Plus, she had taken the liberty of learning hand-to-hand combat and now has skills in the martial arts. Despite not having anyone as a teacher, and thus self taught herself through reading, experimentation, and rigorous training, she had eventually built up skills that are almost on equal level to that of the regular monk. These skills prove useful, should the Makai Hand Mortar become a unavailable option. To keep herself in shape and her martial arts up to par, she tries exercising and training on occasions. Nanama soon focuses her attention on wielding a katana, learning about arcanima in the Arcanist's Guild, and taking lessons from Perceval on using a bow and arrow. These give her more room to grow and become versatile. Later on, she gets her hands on a gunblade, and it may be her most preferred weapon of choice. She also has an Automaton Queen for assistance sometimes.

Affiliations

Mameshiba/Mame: The mameshiba is a newborn miniature Far Eastern canine that Nanama had came across, during her first few months as a budding detective in Eorzea. The pup had became a wanderer around the Shroud, but eventually took to following Nanama's every lead through most of her cases. The origin of "Mame" is still unknown to her, however, she had grown fond of the canine over the course of her time in Eorzea. She decided to keep it around as her companion.

The Mameshiba had disappeared for a while, but was found by Perceval and reunited with Nanama .

Caroline Vesper: A seventeen year old midlander who was a experienced summoner, and whom Nanama met near the end of her second year in Eorzea. She was a young adventurer who had a inferiority complex, on top of being sarcastic and cynical towards others she was not close to.

Nanama met Caroline in Limsa Lominsa, when the detective used to occupy that city- state more frequently in the past. A grimoire of Caroline's was stolen by thieves, but then escalated into a run-in with the Kobold beast tribe. After aiding Caroline, both her and Nanama were on good terms, even though the summoner's cynical outlook on Eorzea as a whole confused Nanama.

They rarely saw one another, but they still kept contact with each other for small talk, until the young summoner met her demise at the hands of Garlean forces.

To'zi Dzoli: To'zi is a skittish, exhausted, and timid Xaela scholar, who Nanama met within the first few days of being in Ul'dah for the first time. They don't exactly see each other much, but the detective views her as a good friend.
Ganon Shosen: A pacifistic male Raen who traveled to Eorzea as an envoy of Othard, and a member of Kusakari Industries--a company he joined after assisting in the Doman Liberation. Nanama met him during her first time in Ul'dah, when she volunteered to look into a investigation involving a runaway Miqo'te, Marolyn Quinn. They both accepted the job, and thus became partners. Over time, as her investigation progressed, she found herself to be in potential danger, and sought Ganon for help. For a while, she used his company's abode as a safehouse, until she eventually got her own office. Nanama feels to be close to Ganon, and admires his generosity. On the surface, she calls him 'friend' or 'partner', but underneath, she looks at him as a big brother, or even a father figure.
Marolyn Quinn: Marolyn is a Miqo'te Keeper, who is the adoptive daughter of Nikolas Quinn(aka Mr. Provolone), the man who gave the offer of looking for her to Nanama and Ganon. She was able to meet Nanama, by Vanitas noting the inspector of her whereabouts in the streets of Ul'dah. After a misunderstanding about the case, Nanama and Marolyn become allies. While working with Marolyn to oppose her father's business, Nanama doesn't feel as close to her as she does with the others within their group. They work together, however shared words between them are few and far between. Her stance on Marolyn is between a friend, and a acquaintance.
Lynette Sakumi: A malicious Xaela who is the caretaker of Marolyn, and seeks to take down her father, with Nanama's assistance. Nanama met her right after having located Marolyn in Ul'dah. Her barbed personality had made the inspector keep her distance somewhat, but soon she eventually got used to it. As time went, Nanama considered Lyn as a friend, however complications during the case for Nikolas Quinn harmed their acquaintanceship.
Lederic Haragin: Lederic is a grim and straightforward Xaela of the Haragin tribe, who's a 'hunter for hire' working with Lynette, Marolyn, and the rest of their group to oppose Nikolas Quinn. Nanama meets him after finding Marolyn, thanks to Vanitas, and meeting Lynette. Their introductions were tense, with Lederic demanding knowledge of Nanama's allegiance, thinking she was sent by Nikolas Quinn to find Marolyn and exterminate Lynette. After the situation's given an explanation to Nanama, she then joins his group. Nanama's feelings on Lederic are conflicted. Despite Lederic's serious, no-nonsense attitude towards everyone he associates with, as well as his somewhat disregard for her integrity, mental health and desire for truth and justice, she sees him as a competent leader. To her, he is a flawed individual plagued by demons and in need of help. She tries assuring him that she, along with their allies, are his friends, but attempts of getting him to open up are met with dismissals. She hoped to help him more, once their current business is resolved, but has given up on the idea.
Darius Johnson: Darius was a Ala Mhigan agent of the Eorzean Bureau of Intervention. The same group Lederic Haragin is/was also a member of around the time of the Provolone case. She and the rest of Lederic's group had met Darius in Southern Thanalan, where they were going after a lead for Nikolas Quinn's location. However, Darius ultimately got there before the group, and wiped out the slavers in the targeted area, including the lead himself. Darius was then taken into captivity for interrogation.

The group planned to let Darius go free, but Mikha prematurely killed him as he was still bound. Later on, a funeral was held for him, and Nanama got to say her peace.

Mikha Namaliyo: Mikha is a calm Miqo'te Seeker, who Nanama met, after running into Lederic, Lynette, and Marolyn. During and after their first introductions, Nanama felt slightly untrusting of her, but eventually her views on her change. Currently, she's more open around the Miqo'te and admires her as a older sister.
Pyrcel Tafodarian: A fae with a silver tongue and mellifluous voice, who's associated with Lederic. Nanama first met Pyrcel in Ul'dah, along with Mikha. Her opinion on Pyrcel as a mere acquaintance, soon evolved into a budding companionship. After becoming single again, and doing her best to solve problems of his multiple times, she becomes emotionally close with him, and soon enamoured by and for him. They planned to get married for the coming of the their three children, but due to Nanama's multiple cheatings with failed chances to improve, they ended up separating. After Nanama finished her journey around Hydaelyn in search of a answer to how to move forward, she returned to Pyrcel, looking to spend her life with him. But the stability of their relationship is in question.
Ruri Ashdale: Ruri is a doctor from Sui-no-sato in the Far East, and spends her days providing medical care to any who require it after being presumed dead for many months after meeting Nanama. She is aethersighted, and her levin aspected aether presence is massive. She is Pel's 'shield-sister', which is akin to the late Ardest Tempest being Pyrcel's 'shield-brother'. Nanama gets along well with the doctor, and she holds her in high regard for her skills in the medical field, including her intellect. She welcomes her as another potential aunt for her children.
S'buroh Ikato: A young and feminine Keeper male with an odd aether about him. He was also orphaned and left to the streets of Limsa Lominsa when he was a child. Currently, the man associates himself with Nanama and Pyrcel, and Nanama herself sees him as a dear friend, almost akin to a brother of hers. This is also due to the fact they both speak Hingan, which is the language the Xaela detective is more comfortable speaking.
Sindorel Felclar: Sindorel is a Hyur who centers himself in Ul'dah, and holds the profession of a academic researcher, as well as a mage. Nanama's first introduction to Sindorel happened, at the beginning of an investigation led by Lederic, that was connected to her current case. Nanama hasn't had many personal interactions with Sindorel, but the multiple occurrences when they work with each other in their group makes her see him as somewhat apathetic, but caring when he wants to be. To her, he's a friend and a invaluable ally.
M'leo Tia: M'leo is a Miqo'te Seeker, who years ago was a detective, but stopped around the time Nanama began her journey as a inspector in Othard, in the Far East. She met M'leo while attempting to uncover the location of a important clue in Central Thanalan, relating to her current investigation. Not knowing who he was, nor his relation to Mikha, she showed distrust for him as he questioned her about her intentions; believing her to be associated with a group of thieves. Later on in their second meeting, the misunderstanding is cleared and they began working together under Lederic's lead. After a botched attempted rescue, Nanama never saw him again, and unaware of his whereabouts. Part of her mind hinged on M'leo being deceased, but mostly has had hope he is still alive.

Despite being aware of M'leo's history with Mikha, not much is known to her about him. She currently wishes to form a closer bond with him, whenever they see eachother.

Lady Beralda: Lady Beralda, or Beralda of the Valkyries, is a fiery winged warrior closely associated with Pyrcel. She deems to have saved the man in a previous life, and despite having no recollection of his past, believes it. Nanama met Beralda in the Quicksand when she tried defusing a intense argument between her and another patron.

Nanama is fond of Beralda, but still currently feels guilt over accidentally taking Pyrcel' affection away from the warrior woman. They don't often see one another, however, Nanama remains on good terms with her.

Ardent Tempest: Ardent was a giant, heavily armored Roegadyn who was usually affiliated with Pyrcel as his 'brother'. Nanama met Ardent when she was in trouble after a attempted rescue of Mikha, which ultimately failed due to a misunderstanding. She trusted Pyrcel on Ardent's good intentions and welcomed him as a ally. Due to the man's lumbering frame and her small figure, she couldn't help but feel like a child in his presence, including being reminded of her late adoptive father Abarklin, who ironically was a Roegadyn too.

During Nanama's soul-search, she was told by Perceval about Ardent's fate, which had occured many months prior. The news had hit her hard, and she couldn't help grieving...

Serenity Penumbra: Serenity Gorgon is a half-bred Xaela who is also Garlean, and daughter of Drayconivous. Out of everyone in her family, Nanama is mostly affiliated with her. While there are moments where Serenity makes situations more difficult for Nanama and place wedges in her relationships with other people due to her naive and rude nature, she continues to tolerate her. There's also the detail of Serenity having harbored romantic feelings for Nanama since they met. While Nanama herself was aware of the feelings, she tried to neither reject her acknowledgement of them to not hurt her emotionally, nor reciprocate them because of her relationship with Pyrcel. Eventually, she does tell her that her love for Pyrcel outweighs is greater and that they should remain as friends. Serenity attempts to abide by Nanama's wishes, despite teasing for the sake of a reaction. Since her and her family's name is somewhat reviled to the public, Nanama has felt pity and chose to be one of the few that the family could turn to for support, at her own expense.
Moritoto Tanbolo: A Lalafell who is a veteran of the Sultansworn—the personal guard of the sultan, Nanamo Ul Namo—in Ul'dah. Nanama had met Moritoto in the Quicksand after she had finsished one of her many patrols in the city for trouble. Their relationship is more of allies cooperating to help bring justice, as well as friends. She admires Moritoto for his calm and relaxed attitude and his dedication to his occupation. Nanama tends to be vulnerable to the man's compliments and flirting, such as being referred to as 'doll', and does her best to not show embarrassment. She also sees the Lalafell as someone capable of helping relieve her mind of the stress and hardships faced as a detective, by handing occasional advice and support, to which she deeply appreciates.
Hiroro Palafell: Hiroro is a proud lalafellin member of the Brass Blades in Ul'dah. Cool-headed, loyal, and fair personality is a admiration to some. Nanama met Hiroro in Ul'dah, while he was accompanying a citizen who was a newcomer to the city-state. He found her profession as a private eye to be beneficial and they both engaged in a small partnership.
L'aera Tia: An young and androgynous Miqo'te who is tough and hardened, despite his appearance. He tends to stick around M'leo, who sees him as family and the boy regularly occupies Ul'dah. Even though she doesn't see him much, Nanama is comfortable around him personally and takes him seriously. She first met L'aera in the Quicksand, at the end of one of her past patrols.
Jay Jojowai: A male Miqo'te Keeper that is on top of fashion and has served with the Immortal Flames of Ul'dah. Like Nanama, he too has a foster parent, and it gives them some form of companionship. The detective may not exactly know yet that Jay is quite infatuated with her, since her view of him is of a friend and she primarily sees Perceval instead. She does tend to be concerned for him, because of the feeling he doesn't have many people to turn to in his life. Nanama met Jay in Ul'dah, during the beginning of one of her patrols.
Tae Shinjaka: Tae is a Raen samurai who hails from the Far East, and grew up in the port town Kugane just like Nanama. A high class of merchants was the family she was born into, but misfortunes led to her training and leaving for Eorzea. To Nanama, Tae is a dear friend whom she had wished had met as kids, to help fix her introverted and secluded lifestyle and have at least one person other than her foster parent to turn to. She's warm towards Tae, and acknowledges the Raen's deeper feelings for her, but failed to keep them on good terms.
Sami Adeos: Sami is a Miqo'te who was branded a wanted fugitive by the Twin Adders in Gridania. After not seeing each other for a long time, they eventually get back in touch and Nanama, along with several others, attempted to aide Sami with her business. Over the course of months, they have gotten closer in their relationship, to the point Sami sees Nanama as a sister. Nanama wants to keep tabs on her and help her endure any pain she feels inside, even when life itself gets in the way.
Oktai Kha (Father): The biological father of Nanama. The man who who had gone for decades without his long lost daughter. After losing both her and his mate, Chinua, he spent his years training in the art of the shinobi around Doma, before sailing over to Eorzea to find a purpose, where he soon discovers Nanama's whereabouts and dedicated the next few years shadowing her. That came to a end when he was found out by Sami, and then made Nanama go through his trials in order for her to retrieve Abarklin's ashes. He was defeated by Pyrcel, and with his defeat, he turned himself in to the authorities in Ul'dah, but bought his way out later on after he had an epiphany. Now having his freedom, he gave up on looking after Nanama, thinking she can look out for herself and doesn't exactly see him as a father, to his sadness deep down. Currently, he works as a bodyguard for hire with his own gunblade. The two haven't seen eachother ever since he showed up at her office before she went to help confront Provolone. However, there was a point when he stopped by her office again during her absence and wrote in a message book she has. He gives her his best wishes.

Nanama rarely thinks about Oktai, but wonders if she would have grown as a person faster, under his parenting...

Rahlera Dotharl: Rahlera is a member of the Dotharl, one of the tribes of the Azim Steppe. For as long as Nanama has been associated with her, Rahlera has been a mercenary and a dark knight, looking to defend the innocent and weak from those who use their authority and power to cast wrongful judgement and harm down on others. She is also blessed with The Echo, like Jay. The two Xaela woman have been close with eachother, and assure themselves that they are being looked out for.
Aya Greystone (Alternate Daughter): Aya au Esprite-Vif de Durendaire Tertiarie Vassal of House Durendaire, or Aya Greystone, is the half-bred offspring of Nanama and Pyrcel, but from another branch of history in another timeline. Long before arriving in present day Hydaelyn, Aya grew up with two brothers under their parents, but unfortunately had to deal with tragedy as children when Nanama passed away due to illness resulting from too much stress. The kids grew up with their father, with their grandmother giving occasional care, until they were able to stand as on their own as adults. Her brothers found their own paths: the older one ran a decent bar with his girlfriend, while the youngest took the occupation of inspector - an investigator like his mother.

Aya herself is a dark knight, and gained her abilities from the tutelage of Rahlera, of her time. Her predicament of being stuck in her current parent's time, was a result of her bar-keeping brother abruptly sending her into a piece of unknown technology that was on par with the Allagans. Aya and others were on a mission to prevent a company of mercs from using this technology for nefarious ends. The opposition was far too skilled, and with no choice, Aya became a time-traveler. She currently is close to returning to her own time, now that she is confident in tipping the scales of battle in her favor.

Aya and Nanama haven't talked with one another often, but there is a bond between them. Aya respects Nanama , and wishes things had been different, and Nanama sees Aya as a endless possibility, regarding her own pregnancy and children.

Ani Rea: A tomboy Keeper who is training in the path of the monk, and was best friends with Nao Heizu. She had lived in Limsa Lominsa with adoptive parents who were great warriors, and left home at eighteen summers to see the world and become strong herself. Ani and Nanama met in the office, after the Keeper heard of the detective while Nao was missing, after their struggle with Imperials in Coerthas and months prior to Nao's suicide. During the time he was alive, Ani had harbored deep feelings for the Raen while on adventures. Ani currently tries moving on, while holding Nao's memory in her heart and continuing her training to be the best monk she can be.

Ani and Nanama won't see each other much, but they seemed to have grown closer.

Nao Heizu: Nao was a androgynous veteran adventurer who had been around nearly every corner of Eorzea for years. He opposed the Garlean Empire at every turn, but was not blind to the prejudice the defected and misplaced had to go through. He was always one to look after others, rather than himself. For almost a year once, he and his adventurer group split up to find their own paths, but later on got back together because of his desire to make things work again. He ended going missing after combating Imperials hunting down Garlean defectors, but eventually showed back up while Nanama was tasked to help search for him. Sometime afterwards, he had a relationship with a boy named Ziah, but it didn't last long. Months later, Nao was found dead in his apartment by his best friend, Ani. His body was submerged under the water of his bathtub, and Nanama's investigation revealed high levels of toxicity in his systems from alcohol. He drank so he could have a easier time taking his own life, but not without writing a note to Ani, telling how sorry he was for bringing her sadness. His break-up with Ziah had taken it's toll emotionally and mentally.

Nanama had closed the case on Nao's death, and takes his passing as a lesson to look after herself as much as she will others. She never met him face-to-face, but she respected his deeds. One day, Nao is discovered alive again due to necromancy and is able to contain his sense of self, however his aether slowly drains as time goes on. Eventually, Nao makes peace with himself and gives a proper farewell to his friends.

With people's help, she is given upgrades and installations to make her feel more alive. Ari helps others as much as she can, all the while trying to prevent herself, a piece of advanced magiteknology, from falling into Imperial hands to be used against Eorzea.

Nanama doesn't know much about Ari, besides the knowledge of her being a android. Nanama takes a neutral stance and neither approves or disapproves the idea of a machine being able to think and feel as she does, but finds the android's capabilities to be impressive. She also can't help seeing a striking similarity in facial appearance between Ari, and the deceased Caroline Vesper...

Reymont Althroz: Reymont is a Dragoon Nanama had met near the chocobo stables of Ul'dah, during Little Ladies' Day. Their meeting began when the man complimented the Xaela on her appearance, while engaging in light flirting with her as the two enjoyed the chocobos. After assisting Nanama on a task in searching for and retrieving a bone from a dead dragon deep below the Coerthas snowy wastes and fending off a voidsent, their companionship grew, however the two were at odds with one another for a short time after the woman checked on his recovery from the battle. This was due to a misunderstanding, from Nanama's act of generosity for helping find the bone being taken as a purchase for friendship, which offended Reymont. Eventually, things between them mended over time.

Nanama sees the Dragoon as a devoted man, looking to always try to do the right thing. That trait also being shown in his interest in her, both physically and emotionally. Even though she doesn't fully reciprocate advances on her, she does value his friendship. Later on, Reymont does get married to someone.

Ninifa Nifa: A Lalafellin courier for hire, who is a Gunbreaker and in possession of Hydaelyn's gift, the Echo--another bearer who Nanama manages to meet in the eastern region of Thanalan, when Highbridge was under attack and in danger of being overrun by the Qiqirn. The two were able to help the Brass Blades drive them off successfully. After being in the right place at the right time, Ninifa is assisted by Nanama as a escort all the way through the Shroud, to Gridania as the primary destination, and during the trek, they got to know each other. Especially Ninifa, as her Echo gave her a look into a specific investigation in Nanama's past. After the courier makes it to Gridania, she and Nanama become acquaintances and later friends.

Nanama respects Ninifa's skills with the Gunblade, as she herself is not new to the functionality of the weapon and knew how to wield it. Even though she knows Ninifa can handle herself, Nanama offers help for whenever it is needed. She doesn't really know Ninifa has the Echo, but has some suspicions.

Enemies/Disaffiliations

Nikolas Quinn: Nikolas (also going by 'Mr. Provolone') is a entrepreneur and cheese connoisseur who is centered in Ul'dah, along with his right-hand Perrito. He is the adoptive father of Marolyn Quinn. Nanama met the old man during her first week in Ul'dah, when she overheard him informing Ganon Shosen about his missing daughter. She offered her help to search for Marolyn and apprehend her caretaker Lynette, but eventually found out after meeting Lederic that Nikolas is in charge of a large slave operation spanning all across Eorzea, and the tale of Marolyn being violently taken away by Lyn was a lie.

Currently, Nanama's case is closed and Nikolas Quinn was apprehended. But, he ultimately died in prison.

Perrito Carrito: A dark-skinned Lalafell as Nikolas Quinn's assistant and a trafficker of the slaves in Thanalan. He was the second to last obstacle to ending Nikolas' slave trade, and met his demise at the hands of Lynette Sakumi.
Javier Bergeron: Javier was a Duskwight Elezen who managed slaves within the Shroud, and was one of several accomplices to Nikolas Quinn. As he dealt with his part in the slave operation that takes place across Eorzea, he was both sociopathic and masochistic. Javier was captured by Nanama's group in the Central Shroud, where he was taken in to be interrogated for information on the location of the encampments holding slaves.

Javier Bergeron met his demise at the hands of Lederic by getting his neck forcefully snapped, to Nanama's disgust, after questioning him was deemed a success. Instead of taking the law into their own hands, Nanama had wished Javier was put in jail and punished for his inhumane acts.

Ebon Syndicate: A company of pirates that Mikha Namaliyo is a member of. Nanama's first association with the group was when she was introduced to one of the higher-ups, Valacor, by Mikha. However, her standing with the pirates soured due to a misunderstanding that could have ultimately resulted in her death, as well as M'leo's. M'leo, a retired detective, intended to infiltrate the pirate's base for information relating to Mikha, whom he had ties with in the past. Despite the danger, Nanama went with him and they were both outnumbered, caught and interrogated. She deemed her bad judgement call and emotional attachment to Mikha akin to a sister, were partially to blame. Nanama's standing with the Syndicate got worse when her association with Precis was known, whom the pirates loathe, for problems that arised before he left them.

Currently, the group is no more.

Secrets

-On very rare occasions, Nanama would think out loud and talk to herself, when confronted with a issue that warrants a amount of time dedicated to hard-thinking and problem solving. She is more prone to do it whenever alone, and not within the proximity of individuals whose presence she acknowledges.

-Despite her body looking to be very slim underneath her attire, Nanama's physique is toned and a little curvy. In reality, her breasts are rather big; a size cup of F. The black jacket and whisperfine coat she wears helps to avoid her receiving unwanted attention by making the chest appear more flat. She is vulnerable to being flustered, should one ask her about her real size...

-Nanama's horns and tail are sensitive to the touch. She'll get embarrassed if they're gently grabbed; more so, if caressed.

-Despite Nanama being mainly heterosexual, she finds the thought of two partners of the opposing orientation intimate with one another to be cute. Especially, if they are both men. It is vague whether or not she may be into other women.

-When meeting a friendly Lalafell, she sometimes has the thought of cuddling them.

-Even though Nanama wears the colors blue, red, and white on many occasions, her favorite color is pink.

-The way Nanama originally dressed was a clear inspiration of Naoto Shirogane, who's one of the main characters from the JRPG series of video games, Persona; most specifically Persona 4 & Persona 4: Golden.
