is young and wide-eyed, not quite innocent and yet not quite hardened by the world, she faces days with an air of promise.
Years of stories from her clan and her father has led her wishing to see the world, to make her own adventures;
the Calamity provided gateway, rations spread thin and ties thinner, she left her family to alleviate the difficulty.
She now travels, often favoring Ul'dah to anywhere else due to its bustling city streets, helping those where she can.

And, despite what may seem like a welcoming personality, Oko is actually still learning how to properly converse on a casual level. Smart as she is, she has a hard time socializing, though one on one conversations tend to be the easiest for her. She has a slight anxiety that acts up when she's in groups, causing her to grow uncomfortably silent, even if she knows several of the members involved. This is not something anyone can control, or that's anyone's fault, she just happens to live in fear of being seen as lesser, and big conversations tends to make her wonder if any of them are judging her. It's something she's attempted to work through in recent months, her silent nature ceding away into something much more open. Where she once would stay silent for moments at a time, discouraging people from talking to her, she has become slightly easier to talk to, words coming with ease more often than not.
Though she is very sweet mostly, she also tends to fuss over the finer details of things, though tries to be understanding of others despite it, and often finds herself conflicted. This comes from two sources, her mother being obstinate, and the fact that she doesn't fully comprehend quite everything she sees. Books can only take you so far, and so she is still working to make sense of it all. As well as this, she can often be blunt, or too forthright, should her desire to voice herself (something her older brother instilled in her from a young age) prove too strong against her will to be silent. She is also prone to being incredibly nosy as a result of the need to know everything, and thinking she knows whats best for her friends. Of course, these two things come under the pretense of her wanting to help them, as well, as she never means it in a rude way. She has a motherly air about her, putting on concern for each of her compatriots. She is stubborn and headstrong to those who know her, often unmoving in her beliefs and her work, but does her best to be understanding of those around her.
Oko is also very interested in others when they are not speaking to her, choosing to stand in populated locations to listen to the things happening around her. She loves the sounds of people talking and chatting, not necessarily paying attention to their words but just the tones of their voice. Having grown up in a forest, it can be both quiet and droning, with the sounds of the creatures, and a crowded city street is no different to her. Merely a different kind of forest for her to wander through.
As a healer, she is very skilled. First of all, she is naturally inclined toward the aether and the elementals, adept at coaxing them out to heal those around her should the need arise. She grew up deeply disliking how the conjurers would use their powers so sparingly, almost cruelly, and wanted to find a way to be different from that, in order to help her friends and family, and further, everyone whose lives were scarred by the Calamity and onwards. While she finds conjury the most natural feeling, however, she has in time grown rather weary of using it, if only because of the actions (or, inaction, rather) of the conjurer's guild.
She also knows, to an extent, many crafts in her journey to learn more and more. What she is best at is herbalism and potion making, and a bit of sewing. Lately she's been focusing on her culinary skills, finding ways to improve recipes her mother once made for her when she was younger.
Posture wise, Oko carries herself gently, each step appearing as calculated as the last. She does her best to put on an air of hospitality and kindness, picked up from observing the conjury guild as well as the padjali, in order to make herself seem more approachable, where once she had been messy and wild, what one would call uncivilized. She has worked extensively to bring her perception up in the eye of the Gridanian public, which has always been scrutinizing, especially to those of her race. Still, though, at times, she is prone to idle bouts of clumsiness, when she forgets she's walking, or that she's to be doing something.
And, at others, she can seem almost gruff, little remnants of her father, from the days she'd spend with him. These moments are few and far between, as her mother taught her the air of kindness long before her fathers taught her the motions of moving through trees. If this is pointed out, the girl will get exceedingly embarrassed and immediately straighten her back. It's a point of anxiety for her, unfortunately.
Oko was born to a relatively small clan within the Black Shroud. It had once been bigger, but over time, began slowly dwindling especially after the Calamity struck and wedged a rift between them. She is the second daughter, but third child out of four. Relatives include mother Usei, father Jurna'li, sister Jeiha, and her two brothers Usei'a and Usei'to. Jurna'li died when Oko was seven, whilst on a hunting trip with her and her older siblings, something which Oko witnessed that occasionally comes back to haunt her. This left a blow to the clan that served to further thin ranks, as he'd been a staple in the community as well as her mother, who was by all means the lead matriarch, and a hole in Usei that was filled, over time, by Karo'sae (who would later father Usei'to.)
As a child, she spent much of her time traipsing through the forest with her older brother Usei'a, their father, and two members of the clan Karo'sae and Gira'to. Gira'to was not part of the clan by blood, but was acknowledged nigh on as such having been around for so long. They taught her how to use a bow and how to hunt, when her mother taught her the importance of respecting the forest, something that she resounded with much more than the death of animals. But, she recognized it was the way of the world, and she learned from her father to use all parts of something you killed, so as not to make waste and anger the forest. This birthed a hobby she doesn't mention much, carving trinkets out of bone harvested from the animals; she doesn't do it anymore, but can at times be seen wearing a necklace she made from a boar she helped take down when younger. The habit of making sure all parts were used has translated into her day-to-day life outside the forest, making sure she doesn't waste a thing.
When she was ten or so was when she made first contact with Sylphs, beyond watching them from a distance with her sister and mother, befriending one who had straggled too far from Little Solace by the name of Panxia who taught her about plants and trees and even tried to teach her how to fly once (which ended in scraped knees and lots of crying.) It was after this meeting that she would often return back to the Nine Ivies in order to visit her friend; they helped her discover her innate talent for conjury, and her ability to manifest it weakly even without a staff. This was something she didn't mention to her family for a while, until one day her baby brother had gotten injured and she healed his busted elbow all on her own; her family being shocked and surprised.
Then, the Calamity. During this, Oko's family would remain in tact despite the devastation that had been wreaked across the land. What did happen, though, was the forest stopped being so providing; things became more dangerous, and at the same time, food became more scarce. Wood Wailers patrolled more often, and stricter regulations were imposed upon their ability to hunt; something most of her clan came to disapprove of.
The first year prior to the event, what little remained of her clan dispersed save for the close males to her mother and her siblings, out of desperation and frustration when Gridania could not properly supply or compromise with them on their hunting measures. Oko, her mother, and her young brother Usei'to moved themselves into New Gridania, where they were hardly accepted but not quite denied. Karo'sae and Gira'to remained in the forests to keep the clan in check the only ways they could, but still visit often to help with Usei's transition into city life. During the next year, Oko and her family worked to build good standing within the society they'd moved themselves into, a stark change from the quiet life they lived in the Shroud. It proved difficult, as aside from her mother's knowledge and communication skills, most Gridanians viewed her children as uncivilized mongrels, and treated them poorly when Usei was not around to combat it. This is when Oko would develop her anxieties, as well as work herself to the bone to meet the expectations of those around her.
Oko, some time after the Calamity, would join the Conjurer's Guild, utilizing her natural connection to the aether and the forests. At first, she struggled to perform her basic tasks, as before it would come naturally only when it was needed, and she floundered specifically with the offensive aspects of white magic, but in time she would prove to be incredibly good with it, bordering on masterful. However, she has what began as a minor grievance that has long since blossomed into something not unlike disgust for the Guild itself, and their preachings, and how they refuse to heal or care for anyone despite them seriously needing it, under fear of the elementals. She continues to call herself a conjurer, but has been toying with the idea of leaving it behind, refusing to be a part of something that turns a blind eye to its ailing citizens.
Third-year post Calamity would yield Oko losing a family member. Usei'a and Jeiha, out on a hunt where they ought not have been hunting, were cornered by Wood Wailers who had mistaken them for Couerlclaws, They ran, but Jeiha was taken out by an archer, and her brother hadn't the time to rescue her. The Wailers left her body, and it wasn't until much later they were able to retrieve it, to give her a proper burial. Oko was devastated, but took it as a sign that staying in Gridania would be no good for her, seeing as her mother struggled to feed the both of them. She had no place among them, and wanting to live the stories they told her when she was young, and wanting to make her own, Oko departed Gridania once of sufficient mastery, in search of the world.
She still visits, every so often, with tales to tell her family, and gifts to give. She cares deeply for her family, and by extension Gridania, though she's never quite felt herself part of the country.
Since her departure, her clan has all but dwindled to her mother, brothers, the two males who acted as fathers in stay of Jurna'li, and the sparing number of those who seemed to disperse to other locations while still keeping Kaprei tacked to the end of their name, to greener grasses, so to speak. Their clan is all but gone, but what's left clings together regardless.
After the opening of Ishgard's gates, Oko disappeared from most places. Some wondered where she went, and wondered why.
Once evening, Oko got word from her mother that her little brother had been injured by Ixali when he was on a walk with his father in the forests. Karo'sae brought him home in a rush, wherein afterwards he and Usei pled with the Conjurer's Guild to heal him, for he had been stricken with a malady brought on by one of the beast men's thaumaturge, whom denied them this, saying the elementals have said that he shall not be healed.
Upon Oko's return, she would petition them as well, offering so much as to do it herself, but was met with yet again more denial, and a set of reprecussions were installed should she attempt to do it without their say so. She has grown frustrated beyond repair with the Guild, and her brother grows ever weaker. Currently, she studies Arcanist's tomes, in search of ways to potentially heal him, seeing as the craft she has dedicated her life to has denied her the means otherwise.

I am a Medium to Heavy Roleplayer and I live in the Pacific Standard Zone (PST). After noon is the best time to get a hold of me, though there's never really telling when I'll be online, truth be told. If you need to contact me please do so at my tumblr blog [kapreisun]! Most often I roleplay in general chat, almost exclusively with the /em chat option, but at times with /say. Other options are fine, that's just my usual form of RP! I do best in one on one or small groups; big ones tend to scare me, but I try!
I roleplay many themes, be it dark or lighthearted, and I would love to be included in plotlines and stories! If you think it's too heavy or can result in my character becoming seriously injured or incapacitated in any way, please make sure to bring it up and discuss it with me before hand rather than just having it happen in roleplay.
Please remember that IC AND OOC are two separate things! My character's views do not always reflect my own (though most often they do because Oko is a sweet baby girl but you know! DISCLAIMER and all that to be safe!) If my character hates yours, I don't hate you! If my character is in a relationship with yours, I can guarantee I am not searching for the same as I am happily married outside of the game!
Lastly, do not roleplay with me ONLY for the sake of looking for romance. I don't like that. If a relationship happens, it happens organically, not because we're pushing for it. Feelings and tension are okay, fine and dandy even! But don't expect romantic RP to be something I do constantly, or with anyone. Thanks!
