General Info

Like most other members of her clan, Suvdkhi (pronounced /suuvdkey/) Qestir does not speak. Although this originally stemmed from her tribe's beliefs that all words are lies, and that a man's actions are the purest form of communication; at this point, she is simply unable to make the requisite sounds. Even though one of her relatives, Miynmekh, was known to refuse to read and write, Suvdkhi, like many of their other shared family members, will happily do so. Her spelling and grammar can be questionable at times, though she is steadily improving.

Appearance

Measuring in at 4'8.5" (that .5" is important, she'll have you know!), Suvdkhi is tall for her age in comparison to many of her relatives, and it is probable that she will grow taller than her elder given time (and proper nutrition, which sweets are not). Like the majority of their family members, she also has the same mismatched eyes of blue and black. Other noticeable shared features include a lack of limbal rings and a smattering of brilliant white freckles splashed across her face. Unlike her other relatives, Suvdkhi's hair is neither white nor blue, but instead a deep shade of black. Suffering from severe nearsightedness, she will nearly always be found in glasses.

Even though she spends a large portion of her time in either La Noscea or Thanalan, Suvdkhi generally wears long pants and skirts along with long sleeves. This is, incidentally, not due to her scales but instead because she has found that due to her age, Eorzeans tend to frown upon the heaping of bruises and scrapes she acquires while training and/or hunting. Although she is not self-conscious of her scales, she is very self-conscious when it comes to her arms and, to a lesser extent, her legs. In the past, most of her clothes were provided and/or picked out by her aunt, Miynmekh. Though she appears to have few complaints about them in terms of style, it might also be noted that she has few complaints about things in general. When in the company of other Xaela, she will generally opt for more tribal-style attire. Around other Eorzeans, she tends to either dress in fancier tribal attire or in Eorzean styles.

Temperament

Nigh-perpetually cheerful and agreeable, it is difficult for one to find themselves on Suvdkhi's bad side and rarer still to remain there. Immensely loyal to her family and friends, she has a strong tendency towards being overprotective, at times at the expense of her own emotional or physical well-being. Although normally naturally trusting and easily approachable, an encounter with the Brass Blades and their gaol system damaged this inherent trust, which was further shaken when she learned that the person responsible was a close personal friend of her aunt's. Due to this, she is wary and skittish around all non-tribal Xaela and avoids the city-proper areas unless traveling with someone both capable and trustworthy.

Having only been in Eorzea for a little over a year, Suvdkhi still struggles with some of the customs and practices that are commonplace to Eorzea. Because of this, she defaults to polite and respectful behavior around most adults. Amongst her fellow kin-brothers and sisters, however, she may be noted to have a bit of a mischievous streak, given that she has a far better understanding of the cultural rules that govern the interactions of her people (even if she is somewhat ignorant of some of the quirks and historical bad blood of the other tribes). With either Eorzean or Steppe-born, she is still quick to apologize should she speak out of turn or otherwise upset her elders, the one glaring exception being those who mistreat her friends and family.

Like her aunt, Miynmekh Qestir, Suvdkhi is also a terrible liar; unlike her aunt, she does not use the trademark Qestiri face mask to disguise this fact. Because she does not often wear the traditional face mask, it is also extremely obvious when she becomes embarrassed.

Combat Style

Suvdkhi is horribly near-sighted and thus prefers close range combat. Unlike the other members of her family, she has little and less affinity for the aetherial arts, with the distinct exception of the earth aether manipulation that is a hallmark of her family line. Other than this trademark talent, she shows strong similarities in style to the Dotharli siblings Yisutei and Dashun.

For sparring and duels, she prefers to use her fists, typically enhanced with earth aether to both cushion her blows for herself and strengthen the force of such on her opponents. While hunting, however, she favors the lance. Her attempts at studying arcanima have gone poorly despite her intelligence due to her lack of aetherial reserves, culminating in the odd result that she can only maintain the Topaz carbuncle summon for any period of time. Between this and the "cowardice" of her carbuncle, she has all but given up on the field and prefers to rely on the areas where she most excels.

Biography

The Azim Steppe

Born atop the clifftops of the Towering Still to a family of merchants during the aftermath of a failed excursion into Garlean-occupied Doma, Suvdkhi's recollection of her early years is blissfully hazy at best. While the other members of her family struggled to pick-up the pieces and return to some semblance of the daily life they had had before the ill-fated trip, Suvdkhi was left predominantly in the questionable care of her mother as the woman's sanity slowly spiraled downwards.

Concerned over her sister's deteriorating mental state and after the discovery of a young Suvdkhi's cover-up of her mother's increasingly erratic behavior, one of Suvdkhi's aunts took over primary care of the girl at the (insistent) urging of a friend from outside the village. Due to this, Suvdkhi began hunting alongside her aunt at an earlier age than what was considered normal for their family.

Unfortunately, not long after this, Suvdkhi's mother passed away in an accidental fall. Subsequently, the aunt who had raised her departed from the Steppe as well. After this, Suvdkhi spent much of her time either learning to read and write from her grandmothers or hunting and training with Miyn's friend Dashun and his sister Yisutei.

Eorzea

Raised as a hunter from an early age, it was only natural for Suvdkhi to seek similar activities upon arriving in Eorzea. However, due to the differences in culture, she quickly discovered that what was considered commonplace and acceptable danger on the Steppe was instead heavily frowned upon in the city states. In order to assist her aunt with expenses, she began completing some of Miyn's smaller hunting and culling tasks for the Flames, the pair passing the completions off as Miynmekh's work.

💕Thya Burwani: A close ally of Miyn's who hails from the Shroud. Due to the woman's tribal upbringing and closeness with Miyn, Suvdkhi nigh-explicitly trusts the miqo'te female. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the miqo'te treats Suvdkhi in much the same way as most Steppe-born Xaela.
🌸Kosetsu Kensei: Introduced by Thya, Suvdkhi appreciated that the Raen stranger was neither talkative nor imposing on personal space.
🌸Haruka Suijin: A reserved, quiet Raen who has taken an interest in Suvdkhi lately. Almost always accompanied by a grumpy male Raen.

As such, she will (and has) spoken out on matters she disagrees with him on. Mhaq had occasionally referred to Suvdkhi as his "sister," a title the Xaela teen was only too happy to accept; though of late, she's been avoiding the miqo'te--something that appears to be mutual.
