Tahni'sae Farreihm is a 23-year-old Keeper of the Moon who was born and raised in Ul'dah. His mentality and view of the world is highly influenced by the training he was given by his mother--a strict, strong huntress--and by the last six years spent in relative social isolation. Although he has only begun to form ties to Little Ala Mhigo, he has been trained by a knowledgeable third party in the discipline of the Monk. He has also been given intense training in stealth and movement, hunting, and similar pursuits, making him a rather formidable individual.

The young Keeper holds himself reserved, obviously lacking social skills required to make friends easily. He is, however, a caring individual with a strong sense of empathy to those he loves. Normally found in the less-civilized areas around Ul'dah, Sae now has taken position as one of the counsel Chiftains in the Lynxfang Pride, led by X'khai Tia. This position ahs recently become tumultuous, however, and Sae as taken to mistrust and even hostility toward most others he meets, eveen in the tribe.

Appearance

For a miqo'te, Tahni'Sae makes a formidable figure at 5'8" and a very muscular 160lb. His hair is jet black with natural reddish-brown highlights (though he has since dyed them out), always somewhat out of control or pulled unceremoniously into a short braid or ponytail. The length varies as he lets it grow out and cuts it as it suits him--hair fashion isn't his biggest concern. Like all Keepers of the Moon, he has wide, round pupils in his reddish eyes that are well-suited to seeing in the dark. His canines are long even for his kind. Sae's skin is a rich, dark chocolate color, and he has a black band tattoo across his eyes (that hides well several thin scars across his nose) and two short stripe tattoos on his right cheek.

Along his torso he has several different scars, a few rough burn scars and several more thin laceration scars. On his right thigh is a bright, more recent hairline scar that wraps oddly halfway around the leg. Worst, hoever, is the scarring on his forearms. They are rough, wide, and take up more space than the healthy skin itself. Because of all these unfortunate markings, Tahni'sae tends not to remove clothing while other people can see him--even to swim or to tend wounds.

Sae's two general demeanors have shifted remarkably toward the worse, with his social demeanor being quiet, watchful and wary. His combative demeanor is mindless, calm, purposeful, and unrelenting.

History

Tahni'sae was born fourth son of Tahni Farreihm in Ul'dah after his family fled the Shroud and persecution for poaching. He grew up as the gentle--and thus less valuable--child in the eyes of his mother and older brothers, his strongest attachment being with his father, Rhoz'a. Still, his mother was the head of the family and put him and his siblings through the gauntlet when it came to fighting, hunting, protecting themselves, hiding, detecting those that are hidden, and all other manner of strength, independence, and survival available.

By the time he could walk, his mother was teaching him and his brothers to meditate, to punch, to discipline themselves and command their own power. As he grew older his mother noted in him the making of what she called the Bloodrush, which she had, which was basically the potential to snap and become a berserker. Mixing the discipline of monk training--training she had received from the Ala Mhigoans--with the rage of the berserker, Sae's mother turned him into as strong a being as she could.

There was very little familial love.

When he was sixteen, his father and three brothers were in the Brass Blades and died in an Amal'jaa raid. His mother, who was already teetering on the edge of sanity, was broken at the loss of most of her clan. She left Ul'dah and Sae was left on his own without job, family, or social skills. So he used the skills she'd taught him: stealing, hunting, and hiding. He learned the city like the back of his hand and learned to be almost impossible to detect. Tahni'sae also honed his survival abilities, learning to never be caught off guard, how to fight multiple opponents and still come out on top, and most importantly how to run away.

Five months ago, he was finally caught by the Blades when stealing from a Lalafell named Jarok Zurok. Instead of allowing the Blades to kill him, Jarok Zurok indentured Tahni'sae into his service as a retainer and bodyguard. Sae was grateful for the chance, but was unfortunately not ready to be pulled into society and the world. It's been a culture shock of great proportions, but he's dealing. His social adventures have brought him at odds with the undead, into the company of tribes of miqo'te, and learning about love and loss. It's all very confusing, but everything he expreiences drives him toward honing his skills more--which is what he spends most of his time doing. Training, learning, and growing.

Sae connected with the Lynxfang pride recently, being immediately voted into the role of Chieftan of the Hunt. He also reached out to the highlanders of Little Ala Mhigo, deciding to gain their trust and earn his right to be a Monk. It turns out he already had all the training anyone could give him, impressing them with his skill and soon with his demeanor. He recieved their blessing to carry their secrets out in the world and use their fighting style, being invited to train with them at any point as an ally. Before he made it back to Ul'dah, however, he came across the Brotherhood of the Ash Amalj'aa clan. One thing led to another, and he ended up on hunts with them, earning their trust and even a place among the tribe. He has been dubbed Sae Boh by the chieftan, a fond name given despite his inability to be a complete member of the clan.

Recently, both X'khai Tia and a member of his amalj'aa priderecently attacked him back to back, giving him major injury and trauma. While X'khai's hostilities eventually ended and that relationship was mended, the other attacker remains at large and highly dangerous, causing no small amount of paranoia. Sae disappeared for awhile, but was found and brought back to his home, where he technically lives as a member of the pride, but barely sees himself as such.

Personality

In developmental psychology, there is a term called Slow-to-Warm-up. While it's usually used to describe children, it seems to fit Tahni'sae to perfection. A slow-to-warm-up child is secure and confident, but needs to be given time to become accustomed to any new thing, behavior, place, or person. They are generally happy, but cannot be rushed. They are generally shy, but given patience they are more than willing to grow fond of anyone they meet. That, in a nutshell, is Tahni'sae. Upon meeting a person he is reserved and guarded, slow to show much emotion or say many words. He is also shy, awkward, and rather fond of retreating from difficult social situations. It is rare, however, for him to be unwilling to form friendships with anyone he meets.

Even when close to a person, Tahni'sae rarely shows very strong emotion. He remains a certain level of shy in almost every situation, especially around women, and especially around multiple people. This is not to say that he does not -feel- very much emotion. Sae could possibly one of the most passionate person's you've ever met. When he feels an emotion it rages--which is a pretty big reason for his stand-offishness and reserved nature. When he becomes friends with a person, he remains fiercely loyal for life. When he hates, he hates with his whole being. He's careful about forming opinions and attachments because of this.

Sae is a naturally gentle, calm, and kind person. In moments of relaxation it shows through--he adores giving affection and making others feel happy and calm. Anytime he is around a child, baby, or small animal it comes out even more: he's a born caretaker, no matter how hidden that fact is under -most- circumstances.

Unfortunately, for some reason this part of him is repressed a lot of the time under an animalistic need for combat, an adoration for the rush of battle and pain and blood. He will never tell anyone the story behind it, but he is a true berserker. Without the aid of his intense training in monk discipline, meditation, and self control, he would be a danger to all and everyone at the drop of a hat. At it is, he still get caught up in combat, hyperfocusing and hurting without hesitation. And every once in awhile, he loses control completely.

Sae hates this. He hates it. But whenever it happens, it feels like a high...

Relationships

Friends

Little Shark - |Friend - Strong feelings| "He's...h-he's...I don't even know how to begin to describe Shark..."

Sae met Little Shark while working as security at a Piquant Pumpkin event. Little Shark needed assistance in removing a troublemaker. By the time they met again things were very different for both of them, and Sae ended up sheltering the young one during a sandstorm and found the razor-tongued creature to be quite amusing and even cute. Little Shark has fast climbed into Sae's esteem; unfortunately, Shark also managed to do a good deal of damage to Sae's heart. Sae is doing his best to make sure this never comes to light.

Leah Carsen - |Mate| "She's one of the best people I've ever met."

Sae met Leah when he overheard a group of ill-prepared adventurers talking about exploring Copperbell. Not wishing to let them be hurt, he offered his services to guide them through the mines. Leah fast proved to Sae that she was a gentle soul not well suited to the adventurer lifestyle, but her healing abilities saved his life and he is grateful. He enjoys her company and sees her as a type of pure being who needs to be protected from the cruel elements of the world. he's also in love with her. Completely.

Raik Samil - |Trusted| "A good man. Easy to be around."

Since they met, Raik was always one of the few who didn't set of any of Sae's internal alarms. From the beginning Sae had no trouble remaining relaxed around Raik, sensing easily that the other man was not a threat, nor a source of drama, nor even annoying. While there are likely conflicts to be unearthed, Sae is grateful for Raik's level head and calm conversation. They don't know each other very well, but Tahni'sae does consider Raik to be a friend.

Khrys Relanah - |Friend| "She's very nice...sometimes can't tell whether she's as shy as me or just a little quiet."

Khrys is the adopted sister of X'khai, a young keeper woman. Although doesn't know her very well Sae finds he has warm feelings toward her. Her shyness naturally set of a protective instinct with in him, and her propensity for healing makes it very easy to respect her. Still, he doesn't know her well, and as always is shy and wary.

A'xun Enocan - |Good Friend| "The man is strange...and somewhat alarming at times. But he's been...a good friend, despite not having to be."

Here was little to know catalyst for Sae's getting to know A'xun, that he knows of. He's not certain why the other Keeper is interested in being his friend--other than a gut feeling that perhaps it is for flirtatious reasons. Still, besides some toeing of the line, A'xun has acted civilly and with grace toward Sae, giving Sae no reason to dislike him. Sae does, in fact, think of him as a friend. Just a confusing, intriquing, perhaps a little unnerving friend.

Nureai Urezie - |Ally| "A strong huntress...dangerous. I'm a l-little wary of the side of me she brings out...."

Although they met through bad circumstances, this actually looks like it might turn into a positive relationship. He met her while she was hunting an innocent, and thus became enraged and bent on her death. But things have...changed. It's confusing for Sae, who tends not to think hard about these things. Right now she has changed into a true wildcat, something akin to a Couerl in Miqo'te form, even. And yet despite her dangerous visage, Sae feels close to the female, feeling her to be something of a kindred spirit.

Family

Tahni Farreihm - |Mother| "...No comment."

Although unable to truely muster up hate for the woman who brought him into this world, Sae detests any thought of Tahni. He fears her, respects her, and knows that if she targets a person they are in for a world of pain. Sae doesn't know what to do, or how to deal with this person--he doesn't trust himself, for one reason or another, when it comes to his mother. Honestly? He'd be happy if he never saw or heard of her again.

K'washi Amada - |Adopted Brother| "Mute...young...very very mischievous. I, uh...guess this is what little brothers are like?"

Sae met K'washi by complete accident when doing deliveries with Jarok Zuok. The young man seemed highly curious about everything around him, though it became obvious very fast he could not speak. Dubbing him Silent, Sae became friendly to K'washi very quickly, over time beginning to see him as a dear friend and even a bit of a little brother--even though he hasn't quite told Kou that yet. K'washi is always a welcome presence, no matter how Sae feels.

Contacts and Acquaintances

Jarok Zurok - |Employer| "It was...nice of him to give me another chance. I owe him my life."

Feeling as though he owe Jarok his life, Sae rather easily fell into the role of indentured worker and bodyguard, taking the opportunity to build up some of his own funds, make his own connections, and learn new skills. Sae is hesitant to call this Lala a friend, though he is loyal to the little guy, finding him amusing and--while greedy as any Ul'dah merchant--a rather decent individual.

Iron Sea - |Contact/Employer| "A strong man and fellow berserker. He...well, we don't see eye to eye all the time."

More and more Sae finds himself at odds with the large Roe. He understood very quickly that there are hidden parts to Iron, but Sae doesn't have much of a clue as to what they are. He is wary of the fellow berserker, or at least of his presence, as he is keenly aware of the friction that may happen between two who fight out of rage. Right now, Iron Sea is smack dab in the middle of the neutral zone--Sae is hopeful that they can form a working relationship, but he holds some shame for the nature of their previous interactions.

X'khai Tia - |Chieftan| "He's my chief and my ally...and I will always respect him. H-he...called me brother once...I don't know if he still feels that way."

X'khai slowly showed himself to be more and more of a friend to Sae, but that was all ruined when Khai's engagement fell though. Khai is now both the Head Chieftain of Sae's Pride and the ex-fiance of Leah Carsen, a situation that has proven far more complicated than Sae has imagined. Sae is clinging to every hope that the remains of their friendship can be rebuilt, but first he needs to -find- Khai. And he needs to make sure Khai doesn't attack him again.

Aschnell Grantz - |Neutral/Cautious| "...I should really stop getting so angry at people..."

Sae really knows nothing about this Miqo'te male, except that their persona's clash terribly. Sae started out hating Asch, until a sudden and surprising conversation showed him an entirely new side to the boy. Asch showed an unnatural ability to be forgiving and understanding, which Sae appreciates, but other than that Sae is wary of the male and unsure about how he feels with Asch know so...much about him now.
