Biography

Tarkhan was born to a gifted Dotharli family, Tarkhan was tested from a young age. His name meant 'Skilled One', and as such, he was expected to be highly skilled. He didn't catch on to much, not being a great crafter, or the greatest hunter by any means. Tarkhan continually had a temper issue while young, and tended to not pay attention to the advice of his peers. It was due to this that his mother would get killed, although he would continually claim that she died in child birth. Wanting to hone his hunting skills, he would wander out in to the wilderness of the Steppe at a young age and was attacked by predators far more fierce than him. His mother came to his defense, giving him time to escape, but she would lose her life in the process. The tribe recovered her body later, and held proper burial rights for her.
These actions would cement Tarkhan as a failure to his father, and as nothing but a burden. As Tarkhan would be called repeatedly 'A skill-less man with a heroes name', Tarkhan swore to himself to become a better version of himself. He still couldn't fletch arrows properly, was unsure of how to make a proper bow string, and the metal weapons that were rarely produced due to resource issues were wasted whenever Tarkhan tried to make them. His father would continue to scorn him, until Tarkhan was pushed too far one day. Some of the Dotharli tribe would mock him at one of his most recent failures, and in a fit of rage, he killed one of them and grievously injured the other two. He had finally found where he belonged, and what he was skilled at. While he wasn't adept at hunting beasts, he knew how to kill those that walked and talked like him.
The murder of a fellow tribe member usually meant dismissal and banishment, but for Tarkhan it meant something different. Sadu knew how to use him, and use him she would. He would become the 'Rabid Dog' of the Dotharl, and trouble makers for the tribe would be dealt with swiftly by him. Over time, the tribe would trust him more and more again, but with a cautious tone this time. It was only when he was coming of age that his true colors would show. A rival tribe, the Hotgo, would bait Matanga to the camp at the time. While he was out practicing hunting and archery with the others coming of age, many in the camp were slaughtered. In the morning they would return to the stench of death, and Tarkhan had now lost both of his parents. In silence, Tarkhan took up his fathers sword and left for a week. After a week, Tarkhan returned with a chain of Hotgo ears from their hunters and Matanga trunks. It wasn't until years later that Tarkhan had his ultimate revenge, being part of the surge that would wipe the Hotgo from the map completely. It was said that no one had ever been seen having so much pleasure in basking in the death of others, and that by the time Tarkhan returned, his skin had been dyed red with the blood of those he slaughtered.
Life remained the same for a while after that, until an Elezen visitor and a Dazkar passed through the tribes lands. They had a few places to go, and after earning the tribes trust, Sadu assigned Tarkhan to show them the sights they wanted to see. He spent a month with them, helping the Dazkar relearn the areas of the Steppe and the Elezen understand more of Xaela culture. During this time, the Elezen made a decision which would change Tarkhans life. At the end of their time together, the Elezen handed him a small, red crystal. A Dark Knights soul crystal, simply telling Tarkhan that he would 'find his justice' in time. He then invited Tarkhan to head west and join a free company by the name of Daybreak. Tarkhan, both wanting a change of pace and to see more of this outside world that the Dazkar and the Elezen had mentioned, accepted.

Commonly heard

"It's odd to see a Xaela all the way out here in Coerthas, and this often, but he comes here to wander the wastes a lot, almost as if he's looking for something." - Noirterel
"Someone tried to start a fight with him while he was passing through once. Both the shortest and most satisfying response I had ever seen, even though it was a mess to clean up." - Kotokaze
"Guy gets chased for poaching one day, then comes back the next and joins up with the Adders, saying he didn't understand the laws. Not the keenest on other cultures, but he at least has good intentions." - Vorsaile

Occasionally heard

"That angry Xaela? Yeah, usually comes in here every month or two, picks up a book and sits there for a while, trying to recognize what's on it. He's been getting better recently, says something about the 'letters not floating' as much." - Archombadin
"Once a week he's out here for lectures. He'll spend time here, and whenever we practice channeling Aether he'll blindfold himself, claiming it helps him listen to the 'spirits within'. It's a little odd, considering we're trying to speak with Elementals, but whatever helps him." - E-Sumi-Yan
"Guy comes out here once in a while. Just sort of watches us work before attempting some himself. He's not a great craftsmen, but he can at least make a proper sword." - Brithael

Rarely heard

"Yeah, he's been here before, had some questions. Has a natural aptitude for the things we do. Why are you asking?" - Sidurgu
"Tarkhan returns home once in a while, says he has things to do. He tried to gift the great demon horse to Sadu, but Sadu declined it and told him to keep it. He now comes here once a month since he left, rides out and visits his parents graves. He usually comes back in the evening, covered in blood. Smells like Matanga when he returns." - Dotharli Hunter

PC Rumors (written by other players)

"I don't really know much about him. He's dipping into some dark magic but he's strong...he'll probably be alright. I trust him enough." - Vixrael
"For a Dotharl, he's not so bad even though he ruined my yurt. Still intimidatingly strong warrior, but I trust him to not try to kill me... at least today." - Meera
"I think he's alright, though he's kinda intimidating and reckless. At least he's got the strength to back it up from what I've seen." - Ihsa
*Would offer a smirk, it seems he respects the Auri but the smirk would fall and he'd cross his arms as his expression dipped into concern. Seems he likes him well enough, but he is... concerned for this new and unusal friend. - Noqai Qestir
