General Information

Ulaanchi eventually decided to join a mercenary guild in Eorzea for the money, but everyone has lost track of the amount of times she's been asked to 'play nice' with her co-workers. She's never been one to get along with others, and has certainly never been seen as nice in her life. She never felt the need for friends or allies growing up, so suddenly having them put her in a strange mental-state. Not to mention the times these friends and allies have actually helped her... despite her usually trying to deny it. Regardless, she's learned a lot about herself since leaving the Steppe.

Appearance

Most don't realize this, but Ulaanchi is full-born Xaela. Not a single other clan or race in her heritage. Despite this, her skin and scales have a milky white appearance. She was born with a condition know as albinism. It affects her appearance entirely, despite what her family looked like. Her case is rather severe in comparison to others that may have it. Everything on her body is pale, devoid of color. Except for her eyes, which are a rose, or coral-like hue. Due to her being a bit more of an outcast because of her condition, Steppe life growing up wasn't easy for her. Her body is covered in all sorts of various scars. The biggest to note is one that runs down her back in a diagonal, starting at her left shoulder and ending above her hip. Another of size, but unnoticeable unless you look because of her hair, is one on the side of her head. Roughly oval shaped, the scar is thick enough that her hair doesn't actually grow there. She is also notably taller than most female Xaela, standing at 6'1... Where most end at a maximum height of 5'2. Her health has been questionable at times, but when she's at her best her frame is toned well with muscle, abs and all, sitting at 188 ponze. Right now, she's more on the thin side, weighing in at 144 ponze. Before she grew so tall and muscled, she sharpened her incisor teeth in hopes of being more intimidating. She keeps them maintained that way even still, and after seeing a shark for the first time, has given some serious thought to sharpening all her teeth like that. However, it's still just her incisors for now.

Mannerisms

Certainly a victim of what's known as 'resting bitch-face', but she doesn't seem to mind it. She frowns more often than she smiles, and some might think her arms are permanently glued in a crossed position. She rarely goes out, but when she does she still tends to keep herself. Most often she can be found either swinging her scythe around somewhere, or resting because of some complication with her health... Which she hates. Its one of the many, many things that puts her in a grumpy mood.

She doesn't believe in much except for 'only the strong survive'. If she finds a person to be weak, she'll hardly even associate with them.

Early Life

Childhood

From the moment she was born, Ulaanchi had a rough life. With awful timing, their tribe was raided while her mother was in labor with her. She was born just in time to be passed to a fellow tribesman, but her mother was far too weak after just giving birth. She was forced to stay behind, and Ulaanchi's father stayed with her. But even after most had escaped, Ulaanchi's life didn't get any better. She was passed from surrogate to surrogate within the tribe, not one wanting to take care of her long because of her condition. Such a pale baby was.. unsettling to them. Immediately branded as an outcast within the tribe, she was only taken care of long enough until she could start to take care of herself. At about five years old. Being as young as she was, she didn't understand why none of the other children would play with her, or why none of the adults would really help her. She just barely survived on her own, and it shouldn't be surprising that while she was young, she was considered quite the crybaby. Every little thing forced tears out of her, even just being alone, as she often was. She was forced to learn quickly that she had an extra aspect of survival that no one else had. She had to avoid being in the sunlight as well as feeding herself. She used the water that the Ejinn usually stayed by to avoid it most days. But she certainly had to endure severe burns and other complications throughout her childhood.

Adolescence

Her childhood, to no surprise, made her a rather bitter adolescent. By this time she learned to sleep during the day, and catch up with the tribe at night. It would have been no surprise to her if they were wanting to leave her behind at any time. But she still relied on the tribe for now. She used them as a shield of sorts. After all, a lone Xaela that looked like a Raen on the Steppe was sure to be an easy target. She also had developed a habit of using her fists over her words at this point in time. The children her age might have ignored her when they were younger, but she later became a target of leftover aggression and bullying. She lost some fights, and she won others, but that was to be expected. She used it to build her strength regardless. Eventually she won most. At the very beginning of her adolescence, at thirteen, the tribe was approached by a merchant from Hingashi. Everyone mostly traded food or material items with him. However, Ulaanchi was fascinated by the weapon he carried. It was simple in design, but it was something she had never seen before. She managed to catch him in the late afternoon, and for the couple days he was around, he refused to sell it to her. It was his own personal weapon, after all. But she managed to strike a deal with him. The man had become rather annoyed with her persistence at this point, so when she wanted to place a bet for it, he accepted. Only because she had bet that she could defeat every male in the tribe around her age. And if she did, he would have to give his scythe to her. The merchant was of course skeptical, and was certain she would just get beaten to a pulp. So he agreed. He was proven wrong, though. In the early morning, before the sunlight was too strong, she did exactly what she bet she would do. It became the reason for most of her scars, and she could hardly stand upright after, but she got her scythe. She decorated it and made it her own, and with that added to her prowess of battle, she went quickly from being hated... to being feared within the tribe.

Adulthood

She still spent some of her adulthood in the Steppe with her tribe. It was much like her adolescent days, with her being bitter, and beating tribe members often. She had used the tribe to survive, but she began to grow bored with just surviving now. So, without a word one night, she left the Steppe. She didn't really know where she was going, until she was on a boat heading for Limsa Lominsa. Arriving there, she quickly learned that Eorzea ran on gil rather than trades. So, she taught herself the common tongue, using context to learn most of it. She turned out to have quite the knack for learning languages, so it didn't take her too long to be able to actually get across what she was trying to say fairly easily. After that, she quickly set about looking for work. She mostly lived on odd jobs, which she found easier after she relocated to Ul'dah. The environment of course wasn't to her liking, but she managed so long as she stayed indoors during the day. Having actual buildings gave her more of an advantage over her condition that previously out on the Steppe. She remained solely independent, relying on none other than herself. Up until she joined a mercenary guild. She joined for the steady income of gil, but despite being just a merc guild... she quickly learned that they functioned more as a family than anything. Of course not being exposed to this before, she wasn't easy to work with at first. After some time... she still wasn't the easiest to work with. But she learned to put pride aside when she needed to, and even found herself making friends for the first time. Suddenly having so many new concepts in her life confused her, but they ultimately helped her learn. Despite all odds, even, she even found out what love was like. That process was especially rough for her. Not only because love was so different from what she normally felt, but because she also fell very ill. Life threateningly ill, in fact. Her body became her own worst enemy for quite some time. What didn't help was that the treatment for her... was just as harsh as the illness itself. If not harsher. In the end she hardly survived, and certainly came out of it weaker than she had been since she was a child. It took her months to recover from it, but even then there were some things internally that would never recover fully.

Recent Times

Ulaanchi still stays with the same mercenary guild, and has actually grown quite comfortable there. She has her own room in the guild and everything. She still is hard to work with... or even talk to at times. It's just simply in her nature to be cold and moody at times. Even aggressive. But she certainly has gotten better from when she lived with her tribe on the Steppe. She has taken a mate, and they're even engaged to be wed soon. Or... would, but he has been missing for a few moons now. Even more recently, she miscarried the pregnancy she didn't tell anyone about. She had a feeling that she wouldn't be able to have the child, after the damage she took from her serious illness about a year back, but it still bothers her nonetheless. Despite most of her life being in Eorzea now, she's still persistent on not giving up her Xaela traditions.

  I don't know so much about policies, per say, but I personally believe that OOC communication is very important with RP. If there is something in the RP that you don't like, talk to the other person about it. Rather than bicker about it like children, sort it out like adults.

  Another thing I will say is that IC does NOT equal OOC! My characters are very different from me, and will not make the same decisions, actions, or say the same things that I would! I RP them to be their own people, not myself!
